Just reading the thread about parents telling their children 'fibs' to make them behave got me thinking about 'Old man Mook'. I have no idea who he was, but he was to be feared, although I'm not sure why.
Somebody I was speaking with a while back seemed to think there was some kind of ancient figure who may have been called something similar.
I think old man Mook was the kind of horrible creature that kidnapped children, from what I remember, (if they weren't doing as they were told, of course!)
Were you told of anyone similar as a child?
