Trump's brain farts

The Wictionary definition of a brain fart :

(figuratively, slang) Something ill-considered and said or done impulsively.

That expression pops into my head every time Trump comes out with another of his childish Twitter outbursts (which is almost daily). The trouble is, because of his surname, I am starting to think of them as brain trumps instead!

Is it just me? blush

It is a bit ironic really - he counters the accusation that he might have a mental health problem with the statement "I am a genius", clearly unaware that this sort of statement is a classic psychotic symptom.

If he does have a mental illness then that is sad; but I really would rather he did not have his finger on the button - a big button at that.

I suppose if that man Breivik in Norway was declared sane. then trump is sane..... he just hasn't grown up yet!

On the other hand, surely anybody letting one man have control of a button like that is mental?

He is unbelievable. I am almost literally open-mouthed and goggle-eyed every time I read another of his (apparently genuine) sayings.

I'd love to get hold of 'the book'. I heard the author interviewed on radio this morning. The gossip must be mega. I got the impression 'they' are trying to get rid of DT by having him declared insane. I suppose that would be the quickest way.

Many Americans still think he is the bees knees......

MamaCaz Sat 06-Jan-18 18:04:07

I have to say that i totally agree with all of you.
To the casual onlooker Trump certainly seems insane, though it would be very interesting to know what professionals in the mental health field make of him.
In the meantime, Trump will no doubt continue to provide proof of his very questionable mental state via his brain farts, both on Twitter and live on camera!

I'm not sure what you mean by "declared sane". Breivik was diagnosed by the expert panel as having an extreme case of narcissistic personality disorder. However under the law you can only be confined to a Forensic Psychiatric Unit if you have a treatable mental illness. The disorder that Breivik suffered was not regarded as treatable - therefore he was sentenced to prison.

I think we are setting the bar pretty low if we regard a mass murderer to be the measurement by which we judge the President with the nuclear launch codes.

I'm sorry but I love the op!

Isn’t that what psychiatrists think Trump is suffering from? cold

Jalima1108 Sat 06-Jan-18 20:13:20

Trump is the word my DM always used for a fart so he is well-named.

Narcissism, narcissistic personality disorder and pathological narcissism are not the same.

lemongrove Sat 06-Jan-18 21:40:33

He has been spoilt rotten perhaps, growing up, or....he was deprived of love and attention and is making up for it now, by denying himself nothing. He is used to saying ‘jump’ and people jump.
I think he seems very thin skinned and wants his own way on everything, and is petulant like a child, and bears grudges.I don’t think he is insane, but quite savvy and knows how to be top dog.
All the above do not preclude him from being a good President ( Jack Kennedy was similar in many ways) but had more charm and intelligence. However, with Trump, you just know that he won’t be a good President!

His aides should hide his smart phone, if only the tweets would stop.

Jalima1108 Sat 06-Jan-18 21:52:15

His mother seems to have been worried about him too:

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 06-Jan-18 22:01:19

My theory is that he has phones stashed all over the place. Every time he brain farts on Twitter the current one is taken off him, but when his aids aren't looking he gets out another phone.

If he had any sense he would have ignored the publication of the book. Now he's given it some credence and to make it worse he's declared himself a stable genius.

You couldn't make it up.

The media is reporting that if only half of the book is true, it's still pretty sensational. I wonder which UK paper will publish serialised extracts?

MamaCaz Sat 06-Jan-18 23:15:12

I love your theory about the phones being taken off him, Wilma grin

Yes

I also know several mental health professionals and all have said that Trump displays classic symptoms of NPD - they were talking about this even before he was elected President

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 07-Jan-18 02:36:30

MamaCaz right from the start I've pictured his aides tearing their hair out when he goes off script and screaming something along the lines of "Where did he get that feckin' phone from?" when he starts tweeting at three in the morning (he regularly tweets in the middle of the night). He is one of the weirdest people in the world. He simply has no idea how he comes across to people and must be a nightmare to be around.

BlueBelle Sun 07-Jan-18 07:16:34

He really is completely delusional managing to twist everything around him and yes he is a genius in his ability to manipulate It’s strange that there are still people who don’t see the danger he is I would actually say the most dangerous man on earth Yes North Korea is a danger but if left alone will do nothing he continues to poke the angry tiger with a stick and he will get the reaction he’s expecting only trouble is few will be around to say told you so If he wasn’t a president he would have been sectioned by now

Observer headlines
