I mean the big, bendy fish slice that I can use on non stick pans? I pan fried 5 salmon fillets yesterday and presentation suffered somewhat without my trusty friend - a silicone palette knife is not a good substitute!

Has something of yours mysteriously disappeared over the Christmas period?

The thing is that the good blue sweater is years older than the scruffy blue sweater

Last year Joseph disappeared from the Nativity scene, at the same time as one of the Wise Men mysteriously lost an eye. As if to compensate, Balthazar or whoever he is has now gained a key ring complete with key and compass looped round his turban - no one is claiming it.

And we have lost Great-Great-Great Grandad’s lower half from the Santa Matroshka. I can confirm he was intact on Christmas morning.

Don’t know what I’ve lost yet but this thread is helping me recover from Christmas stress! Last time DS and family visited it took months to find everything again- they like re-arranging the bedrooms for children and take every pillow and duvet they can find to make ‘nests’ for 1 and 2 year old. They departed yesterday - now I’ll have to try and find everything again.

I once read a science fiction story like this....

Jalima1108 Tue 02-Jan-18 17:57:49

the one I'm wearing but wouldn't go out in

NannyTee Tue 02-Jan-18 17:44:52

Phew as long as its not ya comfy jumper haha

Jalima1108 Tue 02-Jan-18 16:56:47

The fish slice could be wrapped up in my nice blue jumper

That is in contrast to my rather scruffy (but warm) blue jumper which I am wearing today.

2 years ago, I bought a small novelty present for my daughter for Christmas, a key ring shaped like a mini, and the same colour as hers (she loves her mini). 3 days before Christmas couldn`t find it anywhere, so without much hope I ordered another from Amazon, that arrived on Christmas Eve. On Boxing Day, I opened a drawer and there the missing one was!

NannyTee Tue 02-Jan-18 16:23:37

My turkey foil. I KNOW I bought it because I nearly took DHs left eye out with it at the tills. Never to be seen again !

kittylester Tue 02-Jan-18 16:18:07

I bought what I though was a new fish slice today but it is actually a pancake turner as it goes in sideways as it were- does it matter?

I also bought: a heat diffuser (unfortuantely mine had a bit of a problem with gravy!) two cushions, some bin bags (er, actually 60, well they were on offer) 6 birthday cards and a birthday present for DGS.

The Black Hole in our house has swallowed among other things a beer mug and two new sweaters- thermal ones- but a bottle of vintage brandy has appeared in its packing and a sealed box of Cuban cigars. We obviously have a very grateful black hole.

cornergran Tue 02-Jan-18 15:22:25

No fish slice I’m afraid. Did look. Anyone seen a double photo frame complete with photos? It was put away safely to make way for a Christmas thingy. I’ve looked, the granddaughters have looked even Mr C has looked. It isn’t here. It doesn’t have legs - or does it?

kittylester Tue 02-Jan-18 14:59:37

Pitt and trisher - we could have a tupperware reassignment party!

I have loads of mis matched bits. It's always proper stuff that is missing a bit, not the really cheap stuff I buy as a stopgap. Or the pound shop stuff that warps in the dishwasher and doesn't fit any more!

AlieOxon Tue 02-Jan-18 14:53:07

I found my long level (needed for putting up a picture on two hooks) behind the TV yesterday, after weeks.
But where is my long sleeved cream coloured top that was to go with my Christmassy crocheted over-thingy? - and the blue ditto??

Wheniwasyourage Tue 02-Jan-18 14:08:47

No fish slice or butter curler here, I'm afraid, but if anyone can find the small cross-stitch picture of a quilt on a washing line (free with a magazine, so not an heirloom in the making), mislaid when we moved more than 10 years ago, I would be very grateful. I was rather fond of it.

trisher Tue 02-Jan-18 13:19:36

I have plastic boxes that never match the tops, even though I am sure I have bought exactly the same things. Next time I get the boxes out none of the tops fit!

Pittcity Tue 02-Jan-18 13:17:28

I have extra Tupperware.......

Greyduster Tue 02-Jan-18 13:07:32

My butter curler. It only sees the light of day on high days and holidays, and is next to useless at curling butter, so it has probably got fed up of me moaning while using it and has skulked off somewhere. My SiL did comment on the fact that there was no curly butter for his starter on Christmas Day. I told him to get a life! grin

If anybody was looking for Bluetak or its equivalent- I must have visited because during a de- cluttering session a few days ago I found at least 6 packs and so much money that I will not have to visit the bank for at least a month! Most but not all in the same place, a wallet given to me as a present years ago but wallets do not fall apart so I have several spare.

If I could remember where I put the Bluetak I will never have to buy any ever again.

We lost the remote control for Amazon tv the other day, Blaming the little ones in all the chaos going on in the house we pulled all the furniture out yesterday - found OH's missing slipper, several pieces of lego and the cats toy mouse (not to mention a lot of dust) but no remote. It was only as I washing up yet another pile of plates I suddenly realised we don't have a remote for Amazon on that tv - it's on the other one!!

grannyactivist Tue 02-Jan-18 12:40:56

Things going missing is understandable, but what I want to know is how the twenty four identical teaspoons from my canteens of cutlery have morphed into a range of different teaspoons, no two of which actually match? confused

goldengirl Tue 02-Jan-18 12:30:29

Forks seem to go missing in our house! Why and by whom I've no idea and all of a sudden we've had an influx of teaspoons. Can a fork change into a teaspoon? Is it the work of 'elf on a shelf'????

bikergran Tue 02-Jan-18 12:14:18

Some new deorant........... (keep your distance) and new pull switch for the bathroom....last seen in a plain blue carrier bag.
