I can't think of anything that makes me go "Yuk". A childhood on a farm, often barefoot by choice as it is a lot easier to wash cow muck off feet than to clean shoes or boots. Squeezing blow fly maggots out of cows' backs, cleaning out pig sties, helping at difficult births all taken in the stride. Gutting rabbits moments after they had been shot was a quick and relatively odorless task, cleaning chickens and well hung game birds not quite so. My mother always said we would eat a peck of dirt before we died, and it would do us no harm. I think the preponderance of allergies and intolerances in the young is down to too much weight given to hygiene.
Phoenix I have a similar story; my mother had been out with her friends and called for a fish and chip supper on her way home. After she had eaten, she put her feet up and took out her top set, leaving them on the arm of her chair. A few minutes later she noticed the dog was gnawing on a bone....only it wasn't a bone
