Annie you dont have to change how you feel at all. Not at all. No one does. We each have our own views and are entitled to them which is how it should be. debate is fine but not to the point when it becomes unpleasant and people are unnecessarily upset.

My other friend, luckily i have more than one friend, made some beautiful nativities last year by felting them. I rather hoped she might make me one. Perhaps this year.

How sad that this thread seems to have turned into one where people are just insulting each other or making nasty remarks.

At the risk of taking flack from all sides, whether you are Christian or not would it not be better if everyone accepts that no-one is going to change their minds and everyone is entitled to an opinion

I don't know whether or not GG2 is a theologian, but I do think he/she does enjoy a good lusty argument with some righteous anger thrown in. If there is none naturally available in the ongoing conversations, then taking offence at what someone has said and making a continuing fight over it is a substitute. What better than religion to supply the raw material?

Being a Christian means making the decision to give my life to Christ, this does not mean I can now live every day wearing a halo. It means every day I fail to live as he asks, all my life I will fail one way or another because I am human, I acknowledge I have failed and will try again, this is every day of my life because there has only been one perfect Christian.

trisher is right. Greggs do a huge amount for charity and employ around 20,000 people. Why would we wish them ill?

They do have a "seconds" shops in one of the poorest areas of Newcastle where they sell mis-shapes etc. very cheaply indeed.

An ex neighbour of mine who is teacher in a very poor part of Newcastle, used to visit the seconds shop most mornings in order to provide a breakfast (of sorts) for her pupils. Greggs gave everything to her for free.

Ohhh I must stop reading books about how to climb Everest written by people who’ve never climbed it . Perhaps those of us who are not Christians would have more respect for Christianity and certain Christians if they didn’t try to interfere ( and in many instances succeed) with how we should be able to live our lives. Don’t engage in homosexuality, don’t have abortions but what gives you the right to say I should not have those choices?

Jalima1108 I think atheists and agnostics actually learn more about religions than those who have faith. The reason being that they are looking more deeply into things before rejecting them. You don't need to be a theologian to find out about Christianity, simply someone with an enquiring mind.
