I am astounded that people did not understand that there was always going to be a final settlement. A quick reading of the EU budget would make it obvious.

The EU fat cats are never in crisis though, so should be able to give their full attention to us and how much they want to screw out of us.

Spain is in crisis with Catalonia, Greece is always in crisis and don’t think Italy is doing well either.

I read today that he was refusing to go to other EU meetings unless he was sent on a private jet, I think, or was it by airforce plane!

I can remember Davis stating catagorically back in April that those agencies would not be leaving -whoops.

Not only that, tegan, but we had over 36,000 scientists, etc., visiting the UK every year on the strength of having the EMA here.

The possible loss of the EMA was one of the first things we were warned about prior to the referendum; and it was a local branch of the Conservative Party that told us about it. It's more than just a loss of employment, isn't it; I mean, wasn't it quite prestigious [sp] to have it based here?

I do hope Brexiteers are happy about that. I am sure they will come on and say it doesn't matter that we lose the EMA and the European Banking Authority.
After all, it's just another few thousand people to be unemployed.

Thank you for replying but it still doesn't answer the question of how the UK will be able to stay in the Single Market if both Labour and Conservatives have stated the Free Movement of People will end .

I remain of the opinion we cannot be a member of the EU/EEA/EFTA without abiding by the 4 pillars/ freedoms no matter how many times the likes of Keir Starmer et al say they would/could negotiate we would be able to do so .

If it were possible then the floodgate would open up for others to follow and that is why it is 'unlikely' to happen.

We didn't need to Tegan. It was one of the things we paid into the EU for, so the team there could do it for all the countries.

Someone tried to explain to me the basics of trade deals and it was totally beyond me; they are so complicated. And we don't [to my knowledge] even have the expertise here to do them.

Still baffled that some people think we shall leave the European union and immediately have trading agreements with other countries. And that said agreements are going to be so much better than the E.U. deal we have now. What is going to happen in those first few years of us being in the wilderness?

...I thought the whole point of the exercise was to take back control and not have other people tell sus what to do ....
