The landline rang this morning and I couldn't get to the phone in time to answer it. No-one left a message so I dialled 1471 and obtained the caller's number. The area code was one we know as we used to live there and still have friends and family there. Although I didn't recognise the number I was concerned enough to phone the back.
A man answered and as I started to speak he yelled 'I've had enough of this!!' and slammed down the phone. I was astonished and DH said 'try again, perhaps you mis-dialled'. I phoned again, this time no-one spoke and whoever it was just slammed down the phone.
Why did this person phone me in the first place then yell when I answered?
I am perplexed and wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience or knows what is going on?

. Clearly it isn't worth ringing the number again, but you could perhaps send a text message to the number explaining that you were simply returning a call from that number. I really don't know what else to suggest and can't begin to imagine what he is so uptight about. Obviously someone, somewhere playing silly buggers with his number...
