I was informed I would be paid every four weeks, however I phoned and asked for it to be paid weekly. I have a very small monthly pensions which just about pays the utilities so I know exactly how much I have to spend on food, petrol etc. Love it.

My mother gets Pension Savings Credit and it is paid quarterly. It is now so small as PSC was frozen - I think in 2010 - and stayed frozen since then.

Going through the bank statements I was panicking, thinking Paw’s pension seemed a lot less than it should have been, then I noticed it is paid fortnightly!

The State Pension is a weekly benefit, paid in multiples of a week. For people who reached State Pension age before 6 April 2010, it can be paid weekly in advance or four weekly in arrears.
For people reaching State Pension age on or after 6 April 2010, a payday is allocated according to the final two digits of the customer’s National Insurance number. Payment is weekly, fortnightly or four-weekly in arrears. State Pension payment arrangements

This government document does not mention 'monthly' anywhere. I can only think that those, who think that is how they are getting it, are well off enough not to notice the change of date each month.

Can’t find a brief link but it’s a weekly benefit paid in multiples of weeks - usually 4. It has never been and there are no plans for it being monthly.

Can you really have the state pension paid monthly ( as opposed to 4 weekly) ? I just can’t believe there is that option

All this, with so much administration and so much worry about what we will get and when does make me think that universal basic income would be a better way to go.

I’d be happy to receive it any time money is money & my SP was deferred from 60 to 65 & 6 months. Living on a works pension for now with 18 months to go.

Yes my huge state pension is paid monthly too. I opted for this when it first became due.

i only had a choice of weekly or 4 weekly, but I quite like the 4-weekly. I can see though, if it’s your only source of income that it might be confusing,

There certainly was a choice when I got to pensionable age as I chose monthly and the husband weekly.

Remember paddyann, you have only paid NI for a right to a state pension, not how much or when. I am sure that, because of this, you will get a pension.

I'll be glad to get mine ,however they want to pay it.I'm not convinced it will arrive the six years late that they say it will because I've NEVER had any communication from DWP telling me anything about my pension.Thats the pension I've paid NI for, for nigh on 48 years ..with another 2 to go !! We live in hope

Apparently it's because it's a weekly benefit so may be paid weekly, fortnightly, four weekly or every thirteen weeks. Monthly would suit a lot of people though.

For weekly you have to tick the correct box on application.

Maybe you were a tad overexcited at all that wealth flooding into your bank, or not according to your allowance.

I get mine weekly, much rather have it in my account than anywhere else!

Yes, I quite like the 13th payment of DH's state pension going into the account as well. It seems a bit like a bonus when you get two payments in a month.

I'm with Annsixty and Welshwife on this. I quite like the 13th payment but I do keep a very close eye on my banking so know exactly where I stand.

I quite like it as once a year you get two payments within a calendar month. The extra you would get every month would be so small I can't see how it would make that much difference. This way it is easy to pay the money as some months have extra days I them - they are actually paying 28 day months all the time - same as some medications are done in four weekly packaging - every so often I have to have an extra months supply prescribed.

Why can't I see a problem?
You get the same amount per year and once a year get two payments in the same month.

I have my modest teaching pension on the last day of the month, small annuity mid-month so it suits me to have DWP pension paid into my account every Monday.
Bill payments are structured accordingly. Main bills 1st of month with phone/broadband mid-month.
Cash from ATM as needed.
I'd hate 4-weekly as that would make monthly DDs awkward to manage.
