All change! But not easy to adapt........

Well, after a very long time of Mr P being away from early Monday morning until Friday afternoon, he started a new contract last Monday that means he can come home every evening shock

Yes, it is nice, but has meant quite a lot of adjustment. I got very used to coming in from work, pottering about, eating what I fancied, when I fancied it, and watching whatever I wanted to on TV.

In fact one of the reasons that I'm currently posting is because although there were a couple of programmes that I had earmarked to watch, Mr P is currently engrossed in "Queen, Rock The World" confused

Haha! Yes, you had a nice little routine going Phoenix try not to resent Mr P for ruining it though.
Mr L was once away for several months and I was in two minds about allowing him back into the house.grin I had developed my own cosy ways by then.

I have a sister-in-law who retires to her own sitting room and TV, I just spend my evenings on my iPad until a programme comes on that interests me.

We had 9 years of Paw working in Poole and only coming home on Friday night, returning on Sunday evening. Sometimes the dog and I would go down there for the weekend instead as he was renting a flat. It was like having a second home and Inwas able to catch up with friends who had moved to Wiltshire and Dorset.
Honestly it was the best of both worlds! Apart from having to put the bins out on my own but that was good practice for now that I do everything.
I enjoyed having the bed to myself, being free to meet up with friends (although as a teacher, nights out on a schoolday were the exception. )
Eating what and when I wanted, less housework as I made much less mess on my own, watching TV if I wanted to.
And after years of struggling financially, he was contracting so earning really well enabling us to clear some debts.
Yep. It was pretty good! He was happy enough down there, loved being by the sea and the climate, enjoyed going to midweek concerts and it forced him to socialise a bit with people from the office when they had quiz evenings etc.
I hope you and Mr P will enjoy being together again though!

Ours is more of a seasonal routine as all summer my husband is at the cricket club, running it, mending it, drinking in it, running the bar as bar manager, generally living there not to mention playing the game too, anyway that was part of my life for many years so I don't mind in the slightest but I have pulled back from it now the boys have grown up and don't need me to be as involved as I was. So the summer evenings are pretty much my own until boom.. it's October and it all stops and he comes home each evening and watches guess what on sky sports! He's not domestic so gets bored at home and often has to 'pop out for a short while' to clean pipes or such like but once I'm used to the new season I enjoy his company even if we are tuned in to two different programmes!
We work together all day every day so it's not as if I don't see him!

I also know this scenario, phoenix. Mr C worked away from home for at least some of the week for 80% of his working life. A young colleague asked how come we had been married for so long. Well, it’s because he’s never there said I grin. I know it taught me independence and that I could do more than I thought. Our children used to remind him that as Mum was there the most she was in charge. Although I was never sure why he didn’t know that. hmm.

It’s odd, isn’t it, when they are back full time? Another stage, not sure if I should own to this but I have my own little space in a bedroom with a comfy chair where I can watch my tv choices now and again. Bliss.

I only had 6 months of it when DSs were young and I found it really hard that I had my routine, we all knew what to do and when then late Friday night DH came home with a pile of dirty washing and changed everything! You have my sympathy. No solutions though, sorry.
