Halloween, should I, the result!

Evening all, and every good wish.

Well, I must say that green face paint is very hard to get applied evenly! confused

So, I came home from work, put on the black, lacey, cobwebby dress, fishnet tights, little black ankle boots, face paint, witches hat, fake nose (which I had already covered with the green face paint) long black gloves, had the cloak and the bag on standby.

The "rules" in the village are: porch or outside lights on, happy to get trick or treaters.

So, there I am, on sort of "standby" (had to temporarily lift my nose in order to take a sip of wine blush) mode, bag of sweets at the ready.

I did my "who's knocking at my door, are you goblins, because I don't like goblins" done from a door only a crack open.

I won't bore you with all the details, but it went down a storm! (OK, 3 children were traumatized, but with me taking the nose off, and reassurance from the parents, I don't think there will be any criminal proceedings hmm)

Several accompanying parents took photographs, just hope it was for posterity, rather than potential prosecution!

PS Mr P took some photos too, will put them on here when I can.

OMG I am gobsmacked for once in my life. That must have been a sight! You will have traumatised the children for life= that is one method for not encouraging them to return next year!

I just hope the local magistrates will be kind to you when you case comes up. thlgrin

Brilliant Phoenix, pleased it all went so well for you and was well worth your efforts!
Mine wasn't as successful I'm afraid. I spent ages decorating the front of the house with cobwebs and spiders and a beautifully articulated skeleton that glowed in the dark and hung from overhanging branches on the path. Only problem was that my DGD and other littlies were too scared to come anywhere near and stood wailing at the gate! I'll stick to just a lit pumpkin next year!

One of my neighbours do absolutely wonderful outside decorations for Halloween, all I did was put a hand written "Beware of the Witch!" notice on the front door!

We have a village FaceBook page, wonder what will be posted on it regarding Halloween?

Can't wait to see the photos phoenix! We had two little groups call at our house, so as usual have to eat all the leftover chocs ourselves - a hard job - but we're up to it!

Brilliant outcome, phoenix. Hope the photos are here soon. Wish I was brave enough to do the same. Hmm. Maybe next year grin.

It's great that you joined in the 'spirit' of it all phoenix well done, look forward to the pics.
We have lived in this house 30 +yrs and have never had trick or treaters call. We are on the edge of town though.

I’m full of admiration.
We turn off the lights and lie on the floor!?
No really aren’t that mean but we’re down a long dark drive so we don’t get any callers even tho’ I always have something in the house just in case.

My OH traumatised some local little witches by opening the door in a very scary mask and wig, with his striped kitchen apron on and shouting “ you orrible lot! I’ve got the oven on - you’ll just about fit in...,! “Kids ran away screaming....

grin

We had a houseful of little ghosts and ghouls and whenever the door bell rang they all rushed to the door in delight armed with sweets to give the Trick or Treaters.

We had many more than usual this year and ran out of sweets. DH wasn't happy as he didn't get any.
We don't decorate, just stick a pumpkin poster over our No Cold Callers sign for a couple of hours.

I only had one set of trick or treaters this year (neighbours grandchildren). I had stocked up on chocolates so will be making the ultimate sacrifice and eat them myself! I would save them for Christmas but I don't think chocolate keeps very well does it (please say no!)

Mapleleaf Wed 01-Nov-17 10:13:32

No, Oldwoman70. ?

Hi Phoenix, you really are someone special. I picture you as a tall, slender, sophisticated brunette. Am I right? Your husband is the luckiest man in the world, well, that is next to me.
Brian.
