How many Cardigans do you own?

I have two!

I had a couple more but recently had a clear-out so they've gone as were hardly worn. I'm not really a cardi person.

I am the same as watermeadow. Two heavy cotton ones from Fat Face and one that is more of a shrug.

I do not really like cardigans as I have narrow shoulders and unless I do them up they keep falling off. I look either very prissy and 'buttoned=up' or untidy and shambolic. I have exactly the same problems with coats and jackets.

Cardigans are brilliant. I overheat in a jumper, but can't remove it like a cardigan. I have at least a dozen.

pittcity that’s what I do - I get too hot in jumpers so never wear them. I have cardis in all colours to match my dress or leggings - best outfit is leggings, just above knee length dress and comfy cardi!!

I have 17 cardis and 6 coatigans!

Watermeadow, I wear some of my Summer dresses and tops all Winter. I just add long sleeved t shirt and leggings/tights/jeans underneath and a cardigan on top.

I had a mad moment about four years ago, a sale - can't recall which company- on line . I couldn't afford those in the sale, later the clothes which didn't sell appeared again, reduced again, few weeks later same thing, fewer garments but very much reduced, I bought a thick, long cardigan for £5, never worn it, I hate the colour orange , it would useful in a power cut though - wouldn't it?

Nelliemoser, is it a fact that BHS are on line? I must check and definately buy some cardigans, I used to love their things, thanks for telling us xx

In 2001, just after 9/11 , I visited New York and bought my mum a black cashmere cardigan as a present. She wore it 'for best ' and when she died I kept it and wore it frequently. It was thin but very warm, an ideal extra layer under coats in the winter. When it finally gave up the ghost I replaced it with another black cashmere cardigan which I wear most days at this time of the year. I do have 6/7 other cardigans but that one is my favourite.

I’ve just put away my summer clothes and got out the winter ones. They are all so drab and boring, I can’t bear six months in brown and grey.
I’ve got 3 pairs of trousers, 3 skirts, a couple of warm shirts, lots of jumpers. I must go round the charity shops and find something else.

Wanderers1 I was under the impression that big “outdoor”cardigans are referred to as “Coatigans” - equally naff name but that’s what all of mine (Woolovers, Monsoon, EAST not forgetting one from YEARS back from CC ) have been marketed as.

Some of you must think I'm crackers with my 40+ but I've always been a chilly mortal so even in the summer I'm never far away from a cardigan! I'm a hoarder too so some are 20 odd years old and are still regularly worn.
As for storing them I bought two spacepro units from Argos which I had fitted inside my sliding unit. One for cardis one for jumpers(folded up of course).

Sandelf, why Lady Bracknell and Eamon Andrews, did they wear cardis, ?

Have got some good ideas from Pinterest to add lace etc to cardigans and jumpers to give them a new lease of life. But I can be brutal with clear outs when I need to be !

I've just looked in the wardrobe and I've got one cream cable, two long grey, two blue and of course two beige!
IIWY I'd see what co-ordinates and if there are any which you're really bored with or don't go with anything else, chuck out unless there is a compelling reason to keep them.

lilypops I hang cardi's in the wardrobe but I try and find longer hangers and preferably thick wooden ones to avoid the hanger mark. I have far too many! Have just had a very ruthless sort out and taken loads of clothes to a charity shop. I will spend the next few weeks looking for and regretting what I have got rid of. I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks and am having to fight the urge to hit the sales 'just in case' there's something I could use on holiday!

I feel droopy in a cardigan. I have one ancient Aran and a grey one but I can raise you 19 polo neck sweaters. No idea why but I do get sore throats if my neck isn't well wrapped up. I have become my mother.

I HATE cardigans!! Never liked them as a child & I can't imagine ever wearing such a garment! 30-40??? Good grief!

How do you Gns store your cardi,s I don't have drawer space and even if I did they would be crushed and need ironing before I wore them , but, I hang them on hangers then I have the hangar mark on the shoulders , can't win!

I usually wear my gardening fleece when it's a bit chilly in the house but when I sorted out some woollies recently I came across my 'granny' cardigan I knitted years ago. It's pink, a sort of boucle yarn that looks a bit like towelling but oh sooooo soft, warm and cosy and comfortable. It's keeping me warm at the moment.

Afraid so Mymm. With me its all about having the colours to match the longsleeve t'shirts beneath the cardigans! Black/Brown/Grey cardigans don't do it for me.

I have many cardigans all different colours but pretty much the same style. This thread moved my mind into timescale and I've just realised I've had three of them (bought on the same day) from M&S for 62 years AND they are still in regular use. Blimey, when stated in hard fact sounds both ridiculous and unbelievable. However.....true indeed.

Yes Madragan, I agree with you. Cardigans are great for layering. I was never a cardigan lover until they started making them in trimmer and more luxurious looking styles. Mine are hanging in the closet next to the trousers and tops that I wear with each one. I never have to worry about what to wear as I tend to hang all of my clothes in "sets" and have got rid of all surplus clothes. Saves a lot of time and stress!
