How many Cardigans do you own?

Will be moving house in the next month or so and realised that although I never feel happy with my outfits any more I appear to have a lot of clothes.
Definetly need to limit tho make excuses to keep things.

Should I just start with minimising what I have, half a wardrobe of cardigans and a few people have made jokes about being a Cardigan lover.

How do you choose what stays and goes?

When I lived in the south I didn’t possess a cardigan, since moving up north I’ve a whole collection of differing styles, colours and shades to cover most eventualities.

I'm still in mourning for a cardi I sent off in a charity bag about 10 years ago! Knitted it myself and it turned out lovely (I don't always like the look of my handknits once I've sewn them up, something about the shoulder/sleeve seams never sit right). Why on earth did I throw it?! Doh! (Well, I know really, I was being ruthless decluttering as we were moving house)

I've got six cardis. Three are heavy ones with hoods. I wear them instead of a jacket sometimes. My latest purchase was from a shop which was closing down. It only cost £6.50 and is a grey aran. So snuggly!

Cardi,s are my "thing "too I have about 15 in various colours , I wear over tshirts in Summer, and over lond sleeve tshirts in Winter as I find jumpers too hot in the house , I thought it was just me being"overcardiganed" but don't get me started on underwear, last count after counting my cardis was,,,,,50 pairs of knickers and 45 bras, Is this excessive do you think ,, When ever M&S have a 20% sale on I buy more, whether I need them or not but just cos I love a bargain ,

Oh dear ,,,now you have me feeling guilty ! Sadly I know I have far too many of everything ......I can't seem to give them away or throw them out ...even have some from my last working days 16 years ago !!! What to do ? Should I cull the worst ones or turn them into cat blankets ....give some away to the charity shop ....or fold them all up and put them back ....no prizes for guessing which will happen ...Oh and I saw a GORGEOUS white (yes, totally impractical for winter !) fluffy ish one and a lovely grey .white one so soft .......should I stay away from the shop in the hope they might have sold it in my size ........decisions, decisions ...I know I don't need it .......grin

I have 6 cardigans for every day wear and 2 thicker ones which I wear in the car rather than a coat or jacket which I find too constricting,my last one was from M&S just their standard button up front in camel it was reduced to £6.00 in their sale two sizes too big but feels comfy when worn.

I've got half a cardie will be whole when I have finished knitting it. About six others.

Ooo - 42 cardigans! I have (from memory) about a dozen. All shapes and sizes and quality (one from a charity shop) and the colours I normally wear. Might think about a C*******s one!

Just bought two new cardigans but sending one back. Bought it off a catalogue and not a good fit.
The other one is from primarks its really nice.
I usually start with t shirts long or short sleeved which have gone really baggy. Then it's onto trousers, jeans or skirts.
I love a clear out always fill I have done something worthwhile after.

This post made me go upstairs to count. I don't feel quite so guilty now admitting I have 42! Some are lined ones to be worn like a coat, but all lengths, colours, weights. Oh and just remembered, I have three sparkly ones in the other wardrobe with the party outfits. Do I wear them all? Some maybe a couple of times a year, others all the time, especially my cuddly ones. I've just put one of those on rather than turn the heating on!

Think I'm missing something on the cardigan front... Is it not easier to have just 2 or 3 black ones (long and medium length) that go with any outfit rather than a heap of coloured ones.
I'm still reeling from the post where someone mentioned having 30+ ??

Lona Sun 22-Oct-17 11:31:12

Just found another one!

Daisynance123 Sun 22-Oct-17 11:29:23

I only have a couple of cardigans but I do have many shawls. Different colours , many reversible, different weights and materials according to the weather. l love them and think them more elegant than cardigans.

Lona Sun 22-Oct-17 11:29:16

shockgrin Never thought I was a cardigan person so I thought I'd better check.
I've got 13!! Some cheap, some expensive but they are all in boring colours. Grey, black, navy and stone. I feel the need to buy something bright!

Don't ask how many Macs, coats, jackets and gilets I found ?

dogsmother Sun 22-Oct-17 11:19:55

Okay it’s a truth, I have more than six ?

Teddy123 Sun 22-Oct-17 11:17:46

Only 2 cardigans here! But don't get me started on coats and jackets. Far too many but I love each and every one of them ....

Greengage Sun 22-Oct-17 11:13:44

I have more than I realised (probably about 12) - long, short, plain, patterned, thin, thick, various colours. One, is a sweatshirt type material which I must have had 50 years and I still love it! It wears and washes well - a BHS one; the shop may have gone to the wall but the cardi hasn't!

cornergran Sun 22-Oct-17 00:10:52

Only about 12 - oh dear sad.

Marmight Sat 21-Oct-17 21:18:46

Like Shysal I don't possess a cardigan. Can't bear them. Must be a Sal thing wink

Wanderers1 Sat 21-Oct-17 21:13:46

I have 8 cardigans and 2 cardicoats (yes this is the correct name) you can never have enough.

Marydoll Sat 21-Oct-17 20:22:35

I'm too embarrassed to say how many I have and that's after filling charity bags last week.blush

Greyduster Sat 21-Oct-17 20:21:48

Three - and a half (don’t think I will ever get the other half knitted!)

paddyann Sat 21-Oct-17 19:48:27

watermeadow Sat 21-Oct-17 19:43:43

I’ve got 3, which is plenty. I only wear them in summer. The rest of the year I wear jumpers.
Why does op have half a wardrobe of them? Does she hang them up? My woollies are all folded in a drawer.

debbie1967 Sat 21-Oct-17 17:19:31

Yeh Primark is good, have bought stuff from there in the past.
