(New) doll's clothes hard to put on and take off

I posted this yesterday on Mumsnet with a different subject line but so far no response. Am getting anxious that I need to take action urgently, so would really value some ideas.

I bought a Gotz Happy Kidz Marie doll online because I liked the general concept of this range of dolls and because the little girl (soon to be 4) it was for was ecstatic about the outfit the doll was wearing when she and I were browsing dolls together on an iPad. (The doll has a glittery pink tutu-type dress, ballet tights, wings and a wand.)
The doll was delivered on Friday and I unpacked it straightaway, mainly because I intended to make clothes for it and obviously needed proper access to it.
But in undressing it enough to check the measurements I have discovered several things I'm not happy about:
1 The wings are awkward to get on and off because the elastic loops are very short. (I'm not too bothered about this because I think it will be simple to make bigger loops.)

2 The tights are a good inch too short. (This is really annoying because they are nice quality, are not an item easily made at home, and obviously there's no way I can make make them longer.)

3 The beautiful dress is incredibly difficult to get on and off. True, the recommended age for this doll is 6 and my intended owner is only going to be 4, but I am grown up and found the struggle extremely frustrating. (I am guessing that with patience and resourcefulness I could find a way to improve the situation regarding getting the dress on and off, but this will eat into the time I had to make other clothes.)

What should I do? My husband thinks I should return the doll and ask for a full refund, but even if I were to get my money back what should I buy in the place of the Marie doll that little A loved the look of so much?

I am half inclined to phone the people I bought the doll from and ask them to comment but really can't decide what to do for the best.

Incidentally, before I bought this doll, (which, to my mind, was fearfully expensive at £80), I thought about going for a different doll - not any specific one, just not this one - and putting a lot of effort into making an outfit myself. I spent a lot of time looking into the practicality of this solution and in the end decided that I was spending so much time on this that it would be cheaper just to buy Marie! But, I am now (in the light of my experience with the tutu etc) thinking, if I were to get my money back on Marie how can I know that the clothes on any other doll would be better?
