Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Slept from about 12.30 to 5. Not enough. Difficult conversation late evening to blame initially then pain. I’m sure lack of sleep does impact my ability to fumction, it’s been going on for years, well 28 years to be exact. Guess we get used to it but it surely isn’t fun. Look after yourselves fellow insomniacs.

I awoke at 3am, I do every night but not insomnia , a health problem. I am so very tired and long to get back to sleep.

NanKate Wed 01-Nov-17 06:05:22

Isn't it odd Grandma70s how in our youth we just got into bed at night closed our eyes and the next thing we knew it was morning.

Because of family problems I too am having disrupted nights. I find it easy to drop off but keeping asleep for any length of time is the difficulty.

I think I shall go off and get a warming cup of tea and come back to bed and of course then I will feel my eyes closing. ?

I think I shall join your slowly going mad club.

Grandma70s Wed 01-Nov-17 05:06:29

Slept OK from about 10.30 to 1 a.m. since then I have been awake most of the time. This is by far the worst bout of insomnia I have ever had, and I have no idea what’s causing it. I feel I really can’t cope. I just want to stay in bed all day, but I can’t. Going slowly mad.

Anniebach Wed 01-Nov-17 02:41:52

2.30am, so very tired

Bellanonna Tue 31-Oct-17 12:51:02

Sounds like a nightmare BB ?

BBbevan Tue 31-Oct-17 11:35:42

I am quite used to banging my head Bellanonna DH never sees bumps in the road, so the car roof and I are often in contact ?

Anniebach Tue 31-Oct-17 09:50:26

I live alone, and do come to this thread when I wake at 3am, feel less lonely. Don't read any other thread or anything else on the iPad but lying awake in the night one can feel there is no one else on the earth, so popping on her just to say I am having a mug of tea then off again.

Pro Plus tablets give me terrible palpitations!

Bellanonna Tue 31-Oct-17 09:44:13

BBevan, I know that I shouldn’t have laughed (sorry).

MD that sounds like an awful night especially being shaken awake when you’d managed to sleep, then the alarm concert. Have a better night tonight.

MawB iPad’s are known to emit a light that keeps us awake so a trial without one might be good. Glad you did get some sleep.

MawBroon Tue 31-Oct-17 09:01:16

I have a new plan (yeah right) when either Paw needs me to help him in the night, or Hattie feels the need to inspect the garden, when I go back to bed I do not pick up the ipad.
So I have not altogether abandoned you all, but by not being WIDE AWAKE for chunks of the night, have woken today feeling slightly less murderous!
Still up 4 times but a clear run from 5 until quarter to eight has made a huge difference.

Another broken night.?
I was exhausted after a day of DGD, so I thought I would fall asleep no bother. No chance. Took about an hour to fall asleep, then woke up with the pain in my knee. Stumbled about in the dark looking for painkilling gel. Found a tube, but it could have been toothpaste for all I knew?
I eventually fell asleep until DH got up for a wee. He shakes me awake to tell me there's been a power cut. I always keep a powerful torch upstairs for emergencies. So I got up to have a look, as we are high up. I have a good view of the town and lo and behold, on looking out the whole town has no power. Back to bed and eventually doze off.
At 3.36am precisely, all the burglar alarms in the street go off as the power goes back on. Unfortunately my neighbours doesn't stop! angry I am amazed to see my husband blundering about in the dark, on his way to go downstairs in the dark to reset alarm. Why didn't he just switch on a light, after all we had power! Men!
Both my and my husband's pcs were installing Window's updates at the time, now they are " gubbed" as my son would say.☹️
I hope my fellow insomniacs had a better night.?
We have a plumber coming today from the company who installed our new bathroom. We have a fault in our heating system which our gas engineer suspects was caused when the plumber installed heated towel rail. I'm preparing to do battle and hoping my day is an improvement on my night.

Have any of you tried Pro Plus for when you have to do something after a terrible night?

Imperfect27 Tue 31-Oct-17 06:23:50

I get up and potter for up to half an hour and then try to sleep again - sometimes back in bed, sometimes on the sofa with TV on very low in the background as a distraction from the 'busy thoughts' that have woken me. If I am not working, I try to have a quiet hour later in the day and maybe snatch 40 winks after lunch, but I know that if I sleep fully in the day I am just perpetuating the cycle so mostly I try to power through and hope I will catch up the next night or two.

We have just bought a new mattress and can honestly say that for the first time for a very long time I did not want to get out of bed today -slept 7+ hours! Anyone posting here will know how amazing that is after so very many broken nights. Now who was it that received bunting and balloons by mistake in the post recently/ I feel like hanging some up today! smile

Grandma70s Tue 31-Oct-17 06:06:15

I’ve been awake since 3.30-ish. Am supposed to be going shopping with a friend, genuinely afraid I will collapse. What do others do? Do you manage a normal day after a really bad night?

Anniebach Tue 31-Oct-17 04:55:17

Wonder why my post didn't come through

BBbevan Tue 31-Oct-17 02:20:32

Well I am awake. DH had cramp in his leg. Painful I know. He woke with a shout. I jumped and banged my head on the headboard. He went immediately back to sleep. I've played 2 games of Spider, 3 of Solitaire and I may put my light on in a more and read my book.

Anniebach Mon 30-Oct-17 08:49:37

I haven't got insomnia, it's the wretched acid reflux stops me sleeping. I will sleep this afternoon on the sofa, could be for two hours. Horrid being awake for hours in the night, no one here, just Lottie and me.

Bellanonna Mon 30-Oct-17 08:39:14

I was still awake st 3. Made a decaff, got bored with the xword, ditto the book, played alphabet games and probably got off around 4, woke at 7, cross because I’d had an active day and thought I’d sleep. So sorry for all the others with sleep problems.

Nana3 Mon 30-Oct-17 06:44:39

Hello Imperfect, that was a poor night for you. Good luck for tonight.

Imperfect27 Mon 30-Oct-17 05:48:54

Annie, Nana3 and others ... I hope you have spaces in the day ahead where you can catch a few Zzzzzzs. So hard when sleeplessness becomes a pattern. I was up at 3, tried so hard to get to sleep again, but had to give in to not being tired - at the moment - by 4:30. For me this latest has been brought on by the hour change and I am hoping I will be exhausted enough tonight to get a fuller sleep.

Nana3 Mon 30-Oct-17 05:29:39

Hello Annie. Been trying for an hour or so to get back off to sleep, finally succumbed to iPad. Will catch up on a TV programme now.

Anniebach Mon 30-Oct-17 04:36:35

4.30 with mug of tea. Had problems finding this thread this morning , woke at 3, gone colder.

Anniebach Sun 29-Oct-17 08:22:17

Same as usual Marydoll , have run out of alphabet games to play , play them when trying to get back to sleep to take Mind off problems .

Marydoll Sun 29-Oct-17 08:12:17

Oh no, Annie you wouldn't want what I'm on!grin
I looked like a punk rocker.
I was really scared! I think I've been reading too many GN political posts.
I hope you are feeling OK today, Annie.
