Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Anniebach Tue 26-Dec-17 05:07:47

5.00am, tried not having tea but have given in, couldn't sleep, wretched reflux. Ginny have fun with GS today

Billybob4491 Tue 26-Dec-17 06:07:22

Been up since 5.00am, no change there and now surveying the debris of wrapping paper, etc., surrounding me, had a wonderful day yesterday, clear up time today. Might find the energy later on to visit Next sale, there again I might sit on the sofa and finish off the rest of the chocs!

Fennel Tue 26-Dec-17 11:36:05

Same here - ie what is it about 5.00am?
But I got a lot done this morning.

Crafting Tue 26-Dec-17 21:28:25

Hope you all get some sleep tonight and some rest from you troubles, worries and the dreaded reflux. A bit late to be wishing you all happy Christmas but the last few days have been a bit hectic. Sleep tight, God Bless x

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 27-Dec-17 00:17:41

Merry Christmas to anyone I missed. tchsmile

annsixty that's hard on you, not being able to sleep when it suits you. I read a lot of your posts and know you have such a lot on your plate. I do admire and pay tribute to your love and dedication to your DH. flowers

I managed to sleep in two spells for a good 6 hours Christmas night, probably because I was exhausted again. I admit I can be terrible at pacing myself (still trying to ignore my diagnosis whenever possible tchblush). Usually DH keeps me in check, but it's hard for the poor man to do that on Christmas Day and I'm spending precious time with my Mum.

Unfortunately I've developed an awful case of the lurgy bug going round (probably got it at the panto of last week, sitting amongst all those germ covered little ones! Darn! tchgrin). I did try so hard not to catch it because I didn't want to be poorly spending Christmas with my Mum and lovely Step-Dad. It pains me to say as an Olympic standard chatterbox that I've almost lost my voice, although some might say this could be a blessing! tchgrin.

Can't see me getting much sleep tonight because I can't stop coughing. Plan to start sitting up with every throat sweet in my arsenal near by, Vic on my chest tchshock, a bottle of codeine linctus, a bottle of Gaviscon, a hanky on my pillow with eucalyptus oil drops liberally spread all over, Vaseline on my nose and a box of those soft tissues. And I've popped extra pills. Can't say I didn't try! tchgrin

Hope you all get some much needed zzzzzzzz tonight! {{{HUGS}}}

Sorry to hear you are unwell wilma. You never know all those remedies might just knock you out. Hope so, sleep is sometimes the best medicine -goodness, that’s my Nan speaking grin

I was dropping off when a flood alert arrived on the phone. We live in a flood prone area. I don’t think this will one impact us, seriously hope not anyway, but the jolt awake has me totally awake now. Mr C is snoring again. How do men do it!

Wishing all a peaceful night.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 27-Dec-17 00:40:25

cornergran thank you, that's kind of you. Actually I couldn't agree more with you because for me sleep really is the best medicine. I can usually get over illness quickly if I can get lots of sleep.

What do you have to do if you get a phone call like that? I wouldn't be able to sleep either. sad

cornergran Wed 27-Dec-17 01:08:46

I know, they are a mixed blessing. It’s the Environment Agency automated service. I do what I’ve just done, look at the details and usually decide it’s too far away to be a problem. It’s not the content of the alert keeping me awake but rather the phone startling me. I signed up for it so I would be able to check what was happening if we were away. Not so sure it’s usually helpful though. Hope you sleep soon.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 27-Dec-17 01:19:24

You too.

annsixty Wed 27-Dec-17 02:36:29

Hi, I'm here.. I resisted looking at the tablet for about half an hour but I had to visit the " smallest room" and am now wide awake.
My reflux is bad, told I need another gastroscopy, oh joy.
It seems colder tonight.
I hope to see a friend later but she rang to say she has toothache and will ring her dentist first thing so if he can fit her in it may be postponed. If so another day "trapped" in the house.
I hope by now you are all settled but ...

carol58 Wed 27-Dec-17 03:02:33

I'm awake too annsixty. Things on my mind - family problems - and my reflux is bad tonight too. Oh to be young, fit & problem free again.....

carol58 Wed 27-Dec-17 03:06:47

Oh and sorry to hear you're trapped in the house. Is that due to a physical problem or did you mean nobody to go out with?

annsixty Wed 27-Dec-17 04:07:52

A combination of things Carol, my H has Alzheimer's and I can't leave him for long, we don't have a car now and I am somewhat incapacitated due to osteoarthritis, being 80 doesn't help!!
I really don't get out much unless a good friend takes me and I get to the shops by taxi.
Ad you say ,oh to be young and fit again.

Anniebach Wed 27-Dec-17 04:22:10

Retched reflux. Sorry so many awake tonight .

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 27-Dec-17 04:40:30

I'm here too. Did drop off sitting up in bed, so got a good couple of hours before I too visited the smallest room.

Fingers crossed annsixty that you are able to get out for a little while later.

Very still outside just now. Just read about the Midlands getting snow. Hope it clears away before we drive home.

Hope you are getting some sleep.

NanKate Wed 27-Dec-17 04:45:29

I too am awake but this is due to having a throat infection that is causing my throat to be a combination of sore and tickling, combined with a cough. I am trying terribly hard not to cough and wake DH. I’m sure shortly I will get up and make a cuppa, maybe warm liquid will help.

I feel for you regulars with sleep problems, especially reflux which sounds dreadful. And also you Ann with your DH.

Betty Davis was right when she said ‘old age isn’t for wimps’ or something similar.

Billybob4491 Wed 27-Dec-17 04:58:15

Its 5.00am, my signing in time yet again, husband tooing and froing to the bathroom all night (thank you sennacot tablets) busy day ahead. press on regardless.

carol58 Wed 27-Dec-17 13:56:48

Oh dear, bless you annsixty, it makes my current problems seem petty by comparison. My stepmum had Alzheimer's so I understand how it is. You are never 'off duty' , even in the middle of the night and it's so exhausting. The refux thing is a, pain (literally!) for so many of us but I didn't help myself by hitting the wine last night. I'll never learn that the short term benefits of alcohol arn't worth the agony after!

Anniebach Thu 28-Dec-17 05:09:23

5.00am, quite this morning, that's good,

cornergran Thu 28-Dec-17 05:20:29

Been awake for half an hour, morning annie, with luck no one else is awake. I’m lucky, no reflux although I do hurt more than usual. Went out with the family in the snow, think I was so tense in case I fell over that I’ve made the usual pains worse. Still, worth it if jolly cold.

Anniebach Thu 28-Dec-17 05:29:42

Hello cornergran x sorry your hurting. It's reflux yet again for me .

cornergran Thu 28-Dec-17 05:33:04

I’m lucky annie, don’t have reflux to wake me. With luck I’ll be back to sleep in an hour or so, hope you can also get some rest. X

Crafting Fri 29-Dec-17 02:14:48

Not been to sleep yet. One of those nights when my tinnitus is on high volume and my mind to busy to sleep. Hope no one else joins me and you all sleep well tonight'

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 29-Dec-17 02:30:12

I'm back home in my own bed, but not asleep yet either. Still full of the cold and cough is keeping me awake. I look irresistible with tissue stuck up both nostrils! tchgrin

Crafting I don't have tinnitus but my throat wheezes all the time and it's bad just now because of the coughing. I only found out recently that my DH can hear the noise! I'm going to try my audio book and hopefully it will cover up the sound. Hope everyone gets some sleep. moon

Anniebach Fri 29-Dec-17 03:55:34

3.40am, so tired, depression getting worse , Wilma and crafting hope you are asleep now
