Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Willow500 Sun 19-Nov-17 05:55:45

Yes definitely sounds like you need to steer clear of that - it can be pretty acidic. I hope you've managed to go back to sleep after your tea. I woke up at 4.30 with palpitations - the medication stopped them for a while but for some reason they've started up again. Then my cat decided she needed the tray so I gave in and got up - now she's had her meds and prowling around until they kick in and the other one is hiding behind the curtains in fear she finds him again grin

3.00am. Mug tea. think yoghurt is off my list.

Anniebach Sat 18-Nov-17 08:40:19

Willow the tea in the night helps to ease the reflux, lying in bed at 3.00am alone a cup of tea is more comforting the a cup of hot water. I have not been tested for food Intolerance because I am only now introducing new foods .

Willow500 Sat 18-Nov-17 06:30:35

What sort of yogurt was it Annie - I believe some are better for you than others? Have they tested you for lactose intolerance? My hairdresser suffers with reflux and says some foods are worse than others - she can't eat tomotoes for example but seems to have tried everything to keep it at bay with little success. I know you struggle to eat at all which probably doesn't help either. Could drinking tea make things worse? Plain boiled water before bed might help? I hope you've managed to get back to sleep.

2.45am, mug of tea. Ate yoghurt yesterday , reflux worse.
And I am suppose to increase dairy product for weight increase. Huh.

I meant to add how awful it must be for those of you with acid reflux it sounds miserable. On top of that Annsixty you are trying to cope with your H. It sounds as if he has dementia.

What a hard time many of us are having. I am grateful for the support of GN.

Ginny that is really interesting about the grieving hours it certainly rings true with me recently and my DS. We are having acupuncture, it really helps us both.

Ginny42 Fri 17-Nov-17 06:36:21

On the point about waking at around 3.00 a.m. my acupuncturist told me that in traditional Chinese medicine the hours between 3.00 and 5.00 a.m. are considered the grieving hours. When I was going through the shock of my husband leaving, I would waken within a few minutes either side of 3.00 a.m. and she managed to push it closer to 6.

The hour just before dawn always seems the worst.

I've not been on this thread for a while and just thought I'd check how Annie is doing. Sorry to read your news Maw. I've been up about and hour and settled back in bed with a drink after doing some jobs. My worry is my ex husband of 30+ years. Long story, but he is my daughter's father and has no one to look after him as she lives abroad. He has another daughter who hasn't even been to visit him since he became ill in August. I have been looking after his affairs, bills and his house since then. It's just weird after all the years to wake up every day worrying about him. He's due out of the respite care next week and I have at last managed to find a carer who seems very nice. Fingers crossed it works out as I can't go every day.

Not so much an insomniac as finding it hard to squeeze everything n to busy days at the moment. Not-so-new job is keeping me very busy and I work until past 9 pm most evenings ... DH usually in bed by the time I get in and I an usually too tired to open up my laptop.

BUT, weekend approaching and two evenings off to anticipate. I think I actually woke up early excited at the thought of a free evening ahead - I will probably be asleep by 8 pm!!!

But haven't forsaken GN ... just finding it hard to fit it in.

Here's to getting respite where we can today xx

Morning anyone.
Like annie I have dreadful reflux, I am choking with it.
I have doubled up on lanzoprozole but
GP says I need another gastroscopy.
H woke up at 12:30am , got dressed and went downstairs, my S and I had to persuade him to get undressed again and back to bed. Then of course I daren't go back to sleep in case he did it again .

Shirleyw Fri 17-Nov-17 04:13:21

Morning anniebach....have let dogs out and now back in bed with a cuppa and iPad....soooo annoying as I'm wide awake.. ........iPads are soooo handy ?

Anniebach Fri 17-Nov-17 03:54:36

3 45am, mug tea, wretched reflux , I am so tired. The tea warms my tummy . Hope no one else awake

Grandma70s Thu 16-Nov-17 06:06:32

Woke before 4. No hope of more sleep. Is there any answer to this? I feel I’m only half alive, if that.

Nana3 Thu 16-Nov-17 05:15:37

Hope the tea and rennie have done the trick Annie. I have been reading for an hour, going to make tea now.

Anniebach Thu 16-Nov-17 04:48:16

4.30am and mug tea. Tried going back to sleep without the tea but wretched reflux is bad tonight again. So tea and rennies then hopefully back to sleep ,so very tired.

NanKate Wed 15-Nov-17 07:24:20

Maw I’m not sure going to bed late is a bad habit if that is your natural way of doing things. I too fall asleep very easily it is keeping asleep that is hard.

How sad for you waking and thinking that Paw was in bed. I wake up and for a moment I am my old self then I think what cruel actions and words is my DinL going to use against my DS today. It breaks my heart to see him so badly abused. He is doing everything he can to end the marriage but she refuses to sign the divorce papers even though she committed adultery. She wants all the blame to be on DS. Life is not fair. ?

Marydoll Wed 15-Nov-17 07:13:00

Awake on and off all night. I had the most bizarre dreams. Ir seems I have written a book of poetry and students are coming from all over the world to hear me read extracts from it!!!!
We have DGD daughter and I'm shattered before she has even arrived.sad
I hope everyone gets a rest today.

MawBroon Wed 15-Nov-17 06:43:15

I find myself returning to my bad habits of going to bed late, last night after I had walked Hattie I started looking out some papers and it was well after midnight.
I have no trouble getting to sleep though, yesterday I had nodded off in front of the TV so no change there, and when I woke up alone, my first thought was aoh, Paw must have gone up to bed first on his own, sad
Apart from a brief wake up, and I can’t quite remember why, I made it through till 6 and in a funny way I am welcoming (if that is the right word) these moments on my own as I do feel he is closer. Right now the birds are singing outside our window and I am in no rush to start a day of arrangements and formalities.

Gagagran Wed 15-Nov-17 06:40:42

4am for me then disturbed dozes on and off until 5.30. Why can't we just go to bed, go to sleep soundly and waken 8 hours later, refreshed?

harrigran Wed 15-Nov-17 05:41:55

Been awake since 4.30, given in and got out of bed, sitting in the study. Just looked out of the window and half the street is up with lights on.

cornergran Wed 15-Nov-17 05:41:32

Two o’clock and then four thirty for me. What is it with four thirty? Hope annie and grandma have nodded off again. It’s all a bit early. . Plan to listen to some music and at least relax if I can. No point getting frustrated with myself.

Grandma70s Wed 15-Nov-17 05:21:56

4.30 for me, too. I’ve had the mug of tea. I tried to go back to sleep but it’s hopeless. Anyone else awake?

Anniebach Wed 15-Nov-17 04:55:00

4.30 and mug tea. Later than the usual time but still far too early.

Newquay Tue 14-Nov-17 22:25:31

So feel for all of you struggling esp Maw and Annie-my heart goes out to you both. I have no reason to wake or just not go to sleep but that's how it is. Last Sat was the worst for ages, must have fallen briefly asleep about midnight cos had a brief strange dream which woke me! That was it then, finally went back to bed about 5am. Still didn't get off easily. DH didn't wake me so went to church on his own. Sunday night took some Night Nurse as threatening a cold-mustn't succumb have a choral concert on Sat so slept better but felt "drugged". Didn't sleep well last night so am feeling wretched now and just HATE the thought of bedtime approaching. What's to do?!
