Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

Anniebach Fri 24-Nov-17 03:01:32

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight

Hello. Just saying hi as wide awake once again with migrane and usual pains. Had such plans for Thursday but think I'll have to push on with Friday's plans if I can. Could be worse.

Anniebach Thu 23-Nov-17 03:35:03

3.30am and mug tea, will I ever have a proper nights sleep

Hi Nellie, sorry you are troubled x

Nelliemoser Thu 23-Nov-17 03:15:35

Feeling really miserable. Back hurting, Christmas is coming on fast my season of feeling isolated.
OH is no real emotional support and when I think about it never has been .
OH getting increasingly reclusive. Any suggestions that he ought to look after himself, (his sleep patterns are dire. )He has often taken a suggestion he ought to look after himself as a criticism and then just cannot just talk about it again .
In the past he has said something about a reminder I made, OH said " He would have been alright if I had not mentioned it."
Bloody Aspergers. I really don't know what more I can do. Total lack of a sense of humour. No fun . I am pissed off. It's a while since I needed to post on this night watch.
Take care everyone. All typos down to the hour.

Nelliemoser Thu 23-Nov-17 02:42:23

I take sleeping pills , I am sooo sleepy the damn reflux is the cause of the waking , this is why i slept some afternoons, to sleep the tablet off ! I must battle on x

cornergran Tue 21-Nov-17 08:43:54

A bit like nankate’s son I have sleeping tablets prescribed to use if I have more than a few nights where I don’t sleep at all. Like Sunday night was. Slept last night so no need of them. One prescription usually lasts a year. The doctor recommended it. I was very reluctant at first but it does help to know if I get to the desperate stage I can have some respite. I know you have a physical issue that keeps you awake annie, it could be worth asking you doctor what he thinks. You’ve so much to cope with at the moment. X

NanKate Tue 21-Nov-17 07:49:13

Anniebach you must be totally exhausted with your non sleep pattern at present. Would you consider short term trying sleeping tablets ?

My DS who is going through a difficult time takes half a tablet or a whole one if he is desperately tired and then other days no tablets at all. He does not want to become dependent. It is getting him through.

I hope you are getting support from friends through this very sad time in your life.

Anniebach Tue 21-Nov-17 05:43:17

5.30am and another mug tea. Twice in the night now, too much, I am so tired.

Anniebach Tue 21-Nov-17 02:13:36

Anniebach Mon 20-Nov-17 08:50:00

Poor you, I do get off to sleep quickly at midnight, it's between 2.30 and 4 that I wake, still awake at 4.20 for you x

cornergran Mon 20-Nov-17 04:21:50

First it wouldn’t post, then it did it twice. Gremlins. Sorry.

cornergran Mon 20-Nov-17 04:21:15

Me too, annie, very fed up. No sleep at all so far. Hope you’ve done better.

cornergran Mon 20-Nov-17 04:19:15

Me too, annie, no sleep at all so far.

Anniebach Mon 20-Nov-17 03:52:02

3.45am and mug tea. Fed up

cornergran Mon 20-Nov-17 02:33:08

Haven’t managed to sleep yet. It’s 2.30, somehow the night seems longer than the day. Listening to music and trying to stay relaxed. I’m hoping no one else is about and you are all sleeping peacefully.

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 13:48:30

Thank you Gagagran, when my size 8 trousers are tight I will certaintly yell out on here - I have to buy size 10 yippee ?, I want chunky thighs and a fat bum

Gagagran Sun 19-Nov-17 13:40:12

Don't worry Annie - you need a bit of support and we want to do that so you can "me, me" as much as you want!

I managed on bananas and mashed potato with some gravy and toast and honey for a few weeks. Then gradually introduced a bit of grilled fish then some sliced ham or beef and carrots. I was told more than once not to have yoghurt and still haven't but I do take milk in tea and I seem to tolerate cheese.

It is trial and error and I wasn't as thin as you so had some padding to see me through the worst bit! Good luck and I hope you find something you like which your body can tolerate!

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 11:52:37

Gagagran, they have told me to eat more dairy products because I will gain weight , oh I am confused , what can I eat to gain weight, everything seems to be for weight reduction .

Damn this is in danger of turning into a me me thread, sorry.

Grandma70s Sun 19-Nov-17 08:30:58

Thank you, NanKate for your response. My body has definitely told me to come back to bed after having breakfast, so that is where I am. As I said, I’m lucky to have the choice. I have never slept during the day, however tired I am. I just can’t do it. I may get a bit drowsy sometimes.

I just wonder how long this can go on. Why can some people sleep easily and some just not?

Gagagran Sun 19-Nov-17 07:38:24

Annie if you have acid reflux you should seek advice on dairy products. I was told on diagnosis of gastritis to avoid all dairy as it contains lactic acid. I did continue to have a little milk in my tea and that was OK. I agree that a cup of tea is sometimes just what you need!

Are you taking omeprazole or ranitidine? Both reduce acid production in the stomach - as you may well know already.

The only other suggestion is to consider raising the height of the head of your bed slightly and/or the pillows so the acid reflux is not helped to rise up into your throat.

I can understand why you are having trouble eating resulting in losing so much weight as the pain is so bad that it puts you off even trying to eat. I lost 2 stones in 2 months when my gastritis was at its worst.

Just trying to help with suggestions Annie as a virtual caring friend! x

NanKate Sun 19-Nov-17 07:03:07

Grandma70 I do feel for you with your erratic sleep. I have an illness that causes fatigue and sometimes I feel it is a daily battle, but when I have a day like you when I have a choice of what I do I just let my body take over. So I may get up have a shower and then breakfast and if I feel exhausted then I go back to bed and have a short sleep no more than 30 minutes as I do not want to go into a deep sleep in the day and then feel groggy. I may take two of these naps a day.

I then go for what I call walking circuits, that is a 20 minute round trip from my home. I have been doing this almost daily for the last 10 years plus.

I suppose you could call them a combination of power naps and physical activity. In the summer I do a morning and evening walking circuit.

It's worth a try to see if it helps you.

Grandma70s Sun 19-Nov-17 05:58:39

Been awake since 3,30 again, as I have been almost every morning. Beginning to feel as if I’m going mad.

I have to get up to eat and do necessary household things, but I could stay in bed for most of today if I like. Can’t decide if that’s the right or wrong thing to do. It’s what I want to do. I know I’m lucky to have the choice. Any advice or opinions?
