Well, I went to have a good old moan in the 'anyone awake' thread, and found it has been closed. So, here is a new one.
I'm awake, I have a headache, I'm at work, so can't go prowling around, and I know tomorrow is going to be a terrible day.

NfkDumpling Sat 23-Dec-17 06:52:12

I have a hiatus hernia and the accompanying reflux, heartburn and indigestion. I read that the Romans used to eat a couple of walnuts after a meal to "Close the stomach" so I thought it worth a try. Well chewed it does seem to help. Probably a placebo effect but I don't care! (And I love nuts so it's a good excuse to eat a couple now and then!) Just thought I'd say.

Nearly morning, nothing like the wee small hours for thinking is there, mind overload
Have a good day everyone x

Annsixty totally understand your sadness - amidst all the laughter and fun going on there are the underlying memories of all the past Christmases that will never be again. Grief for the person gone in mind but not in body and all that brings with it.

Greyduster I hope your issues with your daughter sort themselves out soon.

Awake since 4 this morning - the children are still sleeping but their parents are up and banging about - I expect my OH will have the covers over his head still asleep (the one good thing about his wretched C-pap machine - he uses it like a snorkel) grin Hope everyone has a good day.

My reflux is troubling me also Annie stress makes it so much worse.
I am struggling with ghosts of Christmas past tonight.
My life is so different and Christmas brings it home to me.
I am remembering so many happy times and they are gone forever, memories are only bringing sadness not happy ones as they should.
If you are awake Greyduster I hope very sincerely your probs with your D are soon resolved and forgotten..
Kindest wishes to you Annie

3.10, mug tea , reflux bad, so many unsettled last night, I hope you will all get your sleep tonight

Fennel Fri 22-Dec-17 07:14:48

I've started getting up much earlier too - about 5am. I wake and start worrying about this b** house move.
So downstairs , coffee and early news on TV.

NanKate Fri 22-Dec-17 07:02:13

Sorry to hear Greyduster of your problem with your DD hope it is resolved by Christmas.

I am sleeping better as we are in a bit of a lull in the sad tidings of my DS’s divorce. No doubt it will all kick off again in the New Year when my DinL receives a firm letter from the solicitor.

Difficult family matters seem to affect so many of us. It’s good to have support from each other.

cornergran Fri 22-Dec-17 06:34:43

I’m back again. Three emails written to Christmas carols via one earpiece, can’t cope with two, while Mr C slumbers. You couldn’t make it up really.

The elf made me smile, ginny, there seems to be an epidemic of them. One daughter in law has instigated a ban. tchgrin

I can understand the desire to put down some of that responsibility, hoping for less troubled nights for you very soon. Hoping you will be able to rest wilma.

It seems to be thoughts keeping us all awake. I did believe I could quieten mine, apparently not. Take care everyone. Please don’t misunderstand but I hope not to see you tonight smile.

Greyduster Fri 22-Dec-17 05:52:50

I have been awake since ten past four and have finally given up and come downstairs, intending to write a letter to my cousin in Ireland. Picked pen up; put pen down. No go. This is my third very early morning in a row (chickenfeed compared to some of you ladies, I know!). There has been a slight sea change in my relationship with DD which is causing me some anxiety, and this close to Christmas I don’t need it. So Classic FM and coffee for me now, then.

Ginny42 Fri 22-Dec-17 05:00:23

Hope you're feeling more comfortable Wilma. I'm propped up on my comfy sofa and may just try to sleep before my DGS wakens, as it's full on then!

Hope people have managed to nod off even for a little while. xx

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 22-Dec-17 04:23:24

Sitting up for a little while. Ginny that's hard going. flowers

BlueBelle Fri 22-Dec-17 04:18:02

Hi Annie your post must have popped up as I was writing so missed you hope you are ok !

Ginny42 Fri 22-Dec-17 04:09:42

As some know I've been caring for my ex, my DD's father and now she's home she's having to take over re trying to get carers etc. I've been divorced from him for over 30 years and although it feels weird, I couldn't see him without support systems. There's no easy solution but my DD is meeting with him and his sister today to try to work something out. I'd just like not to have so much responsibility for him. I've had to change my life quite a lot being 'on call' for all manner of jobs since August. That's kept me awake many nights.

BlueBelle Fri 22-Dec-17 03:57:55

No I m still here I put the iPad down to try and find some sleep but nah not a hope wide awake Listening to the radio, trying to wipe out all the negative thoughts winding round in my head so Cornergran, Ginny and Wilmer happy days xxx?

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 22-Dec-17 03:50:30

cornergran Fri 22-Dec-17 03:46:54

Moan away wilma, if it’s not allowed in the middle of the night when is it? Yes, I think most of us do want Christmas to be right. In the maternal job description. Right, I’m going to do something useful and reply to a couple of emails. Back later I’m sure. hmm.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 22-Dec-17 03:37:47

Quite a few here tonight. I wonder if this is one of the down sides of Christmas? We want everything to be alright.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 22-Dec-17 03:35:20

Not dropped off yet, but not for the want of trying. I've only got tomorrow to do some last minute bits before we head up to Scotland on Saturday morning. Going away always makes me nadgy and really want to go, but at the same time I really don't want to go. I didn't used to be like this and I don't know where it comes from. When I'm at my Mum's my sleeping pattern returns to normal because I'm exhausted every night, no matter how much I try to pace myself. I just can't stand the fatigue that comes with MS. Moan, moan, moan. tchgrin

cornergran Fri 22-Dec-17 03:31:10

Doesn’t matter though, ginny, worry isn’t a competition and we are bound to be impacted by our own family. I know our lot will get through it, to be honest they don’t have a choice, I just can’t see how at the minute and so want to fix it. Not that I can. This parenting lark isn’t for wimps that’s for sure. Hope your family problems will settle very soon.

Ginny42 Fri 22-Dec-17 03:30:14

Well I had to laugh a short time ago. I was in the kitchen making brekkie when my daughter appeared looking stressed - she'd forgotten to unpack Delph the Elf!!! He's now sitting in the middle of my Christmas tree. She's gone back to bed.

Ginny42 Fri 22-Dec-17 03:26:37

Morning cornergran, sorry you need to be here. When you're anxious about something I think the hours before dawn are difficult. We have complex family problems at present too, although I keep telling myself others are coping with worse.

cornergran Fri 22-Dec-17 03:26:02

Morning ginny. Envious of your breakfast. Trying to stay in bed, one of the downsides of living in a bungalow is kitchen forays wake Mr C who is far better left asleep smile.

Ginny42 Fri 22-Dec-17 03:22:16

I'm here BB. I was so exhausted at the end of yesterday when my daughter and family arrived from abroad for Christmas, I too fell asleep around 10.30 last night. Fatal, as I'm now wide awake. I find that if I lie in the dark hoping to sleep again the thoughts start whirling round my head, so I'm better getting up. I've just had my first 'breakfast'!
