Never mind, they can expect the two charras there tomorrow, I am sure that both can hardly wait and Sam will be very excited, especially as I know that Hattie will be there. We really should stop off somewhere for lunch because it is a bit much to expect lunch, evening meal and a bed for the night even although we are supplying the wine.

The flaming fireworks are going off again and this is the 3rd night. What a waste of money. At least they do not appear to bother Tara, she is fairly laid back and she knows that I am here.

Maw I did laugh reading about the perfect way to transport large goodies from Ikea.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Hattie is not spooked by .the fireworks. Our small village probably hasn’t got too many families celebrating Divali (but who am I to say) so any fireworks I have heard have been a few miles away and pretty muffled. We have clay pigeon shooting just a mile down the road and it can get quite loud depending on the wind direction. She has not batted an eye (or ear) at that so fingers crossed the occasional distant boom will not alarm her.

Tonight the fireworks appear to be much further away whereas last night I could have sworn that they were going off in my rear garden.

Dogs on the whole appear to be more affected than cats and my friend's last dog had to be given drugs by the vet because he was a quivering wreck. I do hope that Hattie is okay.

I now have this vision of *Greyduster" carrying an IKEA sofa back home on a tram.

We propped it upright on the seat, Nellie, but I had to pay its fare!!! Disgusting!
Charley I could bring sandwiches but it would only be jam, I’m afraid....
DS and DiL are coming to lunch today so I had better get cracking do there won’t be any! I’ll look in later.

Greyduster thanks but we do not need sandwiches because we are expecting a 3 course meal served this evening by N&G. We will stop off at a nice pub which accepts dogs, for lunch.

So far a pleasant day with the sun out. I do not know if storm Brian will hit us at all later- hopefully not.

The fireworks went on until almost midnight last night- I was not impressed.

Charleygirl You are planning to eat dogs for lunch? I shall inform the RSPCA!

I’ll bring some banana nut brownies for the journey then. Should keep us going! Talking about going, will there be a comfort stop? If not, I bought a little funnel from Ikea that DD said looked just like a She-wee! (Not likely to be using it for much else now that I can’t get that image out of my mind!!).

Maw I was shocked to hear about your experience with the surgery 'staff training' shutdown. Had a similar situation myself when a new prescription had been faxed (how old-fashioned that sounds now) to my regular chemist, only for him to refuse to dispense it as it hadn't been signed! I had to take it up to the surgery and bang on the door till someone came out of 'training'. Thankfully she took it from me and got it signed so I could start the medication that day.

Lovely sunny day here in my bit of the world but not many leaves left on the trees. I think I've said before my flat is in a triangular building and wind gets trapped in the inner garden, causing more damage than it does blowing straight down the road at the front. When I lived on the coast I loved to walk along the sea front in the wind, watching the power of raw nature. Luckily I could turn inland for the walk home so didn't have to battle against the full force of it.

Swanny We're on the road. Hitch up your skirt as we draw close to where you're standing. The driver says that he can cope with one more passenger. I've my doubts. There such a rumpus going on on the back seat. All the sandwiches have been eaten and I can hear popping of corks and raucous laughter.

Charleyg N&G know how to put on a good spread. I wouldn't mind betting that they will be greeting us lot off the charra with open arms and pleasant kisses on the cheek. Whether we'll be allowed to step over the threshold...that's another matter altogether.

soop she wees are not required because I organised buses that had a loo on board. I am disappointed that so many have had a few too many and it is early pm.

I intend to nose my way around the bungalow- they have had the entire morning to unpack!!! I know that we will be welcomed with open arms and Sam will be over the moon.

I have made arrangements for neighbours to look in later and make sure that Tara has not scratched furniture. I will be away longer than I had thought, staying overnight.

The winds are picking up here and it is decidedly colder. My doors are wide open because the two builders are beavering away.
