Hello everyone else ?. There's a lot of us in the kitchen these days which is really nice just don't go eating all the goodies till I've had my share

It's been a week for friends - I had my oldest friend to lunch yesterday - don't you just love it when there are just no awkward silences and you talk for England or Scotland or Wales .

I think that by the end of a week Sunday all of my building problems will be over or at least 99% of them and I can have surgery hopefully before Christmas. This may be a fine time to have a superb excuse not to send any C cards.

I have had a lovely supper and decided to have a few glasses of wine with the steak. I no longer bother to count.

Maw I am so sorry - I do not know what to suggest- you need your rest also or you will not be able to function.

Well done aggie I found the pain relief was awesome when I had my knee done. I Just took everything I was given and it was fine.
My evening out was lovely, we were back by 9:15 as we went early.
The food and wine were spot on and the restaurant was typically Italian, noisy, full and all atmosphere.
The staff were so attentive without being bothersome. A great evening out.
Have as good a night as you can every one, especially maw hope tonight is slightly more restful for you.

Oh my, so much to read and catch up on, I`ll never manage it!
I went to the surgery today to try and resolve my UTI, hopefully these antib`s will start to work very soon, I need a decent night`s sleep! Saying that, I feel guilty because Maw is having it so much worse, so will tell myself to SHUT UP! I also had my flu jab, which I think caused my lethargy this afternoon, I just didn`t want to do anything, even put down my book, didn`t put my laptop on till tonight.
Aggie, so pleased that everything went well for you, do everything they tell you, and if you need pain relief, ASK FOR IT!

Note to self, if my old boy ever has the chance to go to another charity auction I must accompany him. The man who seldom spends so much as a penny on himself and is not known for being impulsive came home exceedingly pleased with his purchase. A lovingly restored radio made in 1946, the year he was born, I think it was the date that clinched the deal. Granted it is a thing of beauty BUT it's substantial, there is no obvious place for it to go and the sound quality is of it's era. It has a connector thingy that means we can play music from my ancient iPod through it too. We have in our house 4 different electrical gadgets that enable us to listen to the radio or play music, for various reasons none of them are quite right but between them they served us well enough ...and now we have a 5th and it's not quite right either! I saw his wee face as he carried his treasure into the house and tried really hard to look enthusiastic, truly I did.....I failed. So there it is perched somewhat incongruously, squished up beside a lamp, on a small nest of tables and apparently that's where it'll be staying. The joke is that the person who listens to the radio most is me, in the car! It's really trivial stuff I know but oh dear...... Anyone know where that leg of lamb is?

I'm sorry grannyq but your tale has made me laugh. Please don't use the leg of lamb on me . Just wondering, does Mr G have a shed in which he potters? If so could 'his' radio have a home there to keep him company? This so reminds me of a friend who is forever going to auctions as a seller and returns home with more than he took with him. He is always accompanied now, really doesn't understand why . Hope the radio can be re-sited in a more appropriate place. I may need the leg of lamb myself later. I'm off volunteering, Mr C is doing some unattended decorating. Anything could happen. Hopefully the right colour will magically appear, well, I can hope. .

The worst thing about auctions is when the one item you want is in a box with maybe a dozen other bits of useless detritus which forms the lot. Having succeeded in securing your heart's desire, you are then faced with what to do with a boxful of junk. Thus did I end up with a coveted Coalport figure, a load of old spoons, some tatty old gravy boats, and a useless table lamp. Fortunately I did not overpay for the figure as a result, and there was room in the bin! Humour him, gq. He’s a hopeless case like me - I love auctions!

PS if the spoons were silver or plate, get them engraved (pet shop or Timpsons are cheap) with a name and “Cereal killer” and give one to each grandchild/SIL/nephew etc.
I saw these for sale in a “vintage /bric a brac” (aka load of old tat) shop and they were selling like hot cakes as stocking fillers!

Hellfire! I wish I hadn’t thrown them in the bin now! Good suggestion, though, Maw. I do have a collection of small old silver spoons, but only because they have a particular connection with the city's history. I am not allowed to let my rampant collecting get too out of hand!

Tara was sadly disappointed today, wanting me up at 7am but I turned over and went back to sleep until 8.30am. I noticed that minx had joined me. Her attitude is if you cannot beat them join them. I had a good 9 hours sleep, a pity that the weather is not better although the sun is peeping through.

Aggie delighted to hear that you are fine. By now you will have done some walking- no doubt you will find yourself discharged on Monday or Tuesday.

Much trouble and rebellion in the AS house today.
Few details as I don't want to be in the DM but I have read the riot act " good and proper".
I asked H to do something for me and he suddenly had the worst pain known to man in his leg.
He has moaned and groaned non stop since then.
I had and still have no sympathy with my knee and hip problems but now the shoe is on the other foot.

We had a last family evening in our old house last night where a good time was had by all ( some more than others judging by the empty bottles!!

We ate everything that was vaguely party food from the freezer and drank some very old alcoholic beverages which were surprisingly good !!

And one of young Cooper who was just so worn out he laid down on the carpet and went to sleep so in true family fashion, someone put a blanket over him and we left him there !!

Packing moves on post haste and we are all set for Friday. The men come in to pack the majority of the house on Thursday and we shall be without internet for a few days so I shall pop in to read but not much posting I suspect.

Please, all of you, sit on your hands and don't do much ..... then I wont have so much to catch up on {smile]

Hellooooooooooooooo! Breezes in with a half smile on face and a little more joy in the spirits. There's been an awful lot of action. Nothing new there! I shall now settle down with a pot of coffee and read right through the news updates.

Before I do. May I tell you that from time to time any rubbishy cake (as if) will be left outside the door of the Argy Bargy Caf Apparently they've a downmarket clientele who are prepared to pay for it. Unbelievable! We are invited to suss their joint out whenever we feel foolhardy. The stuff that goes on there makes my eyes water. Never the less, us lot must remember that even that lot have feelings. Granted, not refained like what ours are but...live and let live is my motto.

I have been gardening and came in for some lunch . I have a charity shop steak knife that cuts plants well. After using it to cut some penstemon off shots I have just found myself slicing up the tomato for my sandwich with the same and not washed garden knife. It not advisable.

Will I ever catch up with you lot? I have so much going on in my head and it's difficult to know where to start.

Aggie We'll make you a gold star. The pain killers are good, aren't they just. I couldn't wipe a silly off my face during the times I was as good as "stoned".

Maw Everything that needs saying has already been said by the others. Quite honestly I don't know how you cope so well. Lack of sleep can do all manner of nasty stuff to the mind. Please let there be some respite soon.

It's difficult to believe that you'll be moving at the end of the week. Still, you'll not be too far distant from family. In next to no time you'll adapt and settle into a new routine.
