Has anybody else had a second pm from this rev Chris someone who is in charge of loads of money and wants me to contact him. I thought I’d blocked him and GNHQ had banned him, but he has reappeared ?

annsixty Sun 08-Oct-17 14:50:37

I didn't even have one and I feel very "put out" and excluded.?

Greyduster Sun 08-Oct-17 15:24:07

I had two this morning and deleted the both.

MawBroon Sun 08-Oct-17 16:17:36

Please consider present company entirely excepted, but skimming through elsewhere this afternoon (I won’t say o—- th—-s) I am struck by a wave of grumpy nit-picking itis , of stirring or accusations of being stirred, of moaning, of pedantry, of whingeing about M&S (yet again) because there is nothing else to whinge about.
Is it to do with age? First world problems? Time of year?
I turn to GN most days to chat to online friends, be amused, comforted or to commiserate (if necessary) entertained and to be made to think about things outside my narrow life.
But today it’s about as much fun as a wet Sunday Scool picnic in the church hall!
smile [always look on the bright side of life] emoticon
If this gets deleted, at least I have a wee rant!

NanaandGrampy Sun 08-Oct-17 16:28:09

Its funny you should say that maw because for the last few weeks to be fair when I log on first thing, once I discount the game threads which I don't like and then the political bun fights which just aren't for me there's not a lot left !!

AND I haven't had the email offering me lots of money in exchange for my bank account details....so now I'm feeling slighted as well smile

soop Sun 08-Oct-17 16:59:01

Good afternoon Granspals one and all. Have you lot been busy - or what! How on earth am I supposed to catch up? Answers on a postage stamp, please.

The book isn't a story book. It's a hundred pages of glossy photos selected by yours truly. I've just about got the hang of re-sizing, re-positioning, re-vamping. In fact, because MacSporran was bowled over by yesterday's attempt, he asked me to compile another album, from scratch, and it has taken me the best part of the day to complete. The books will be treasured by we two and, in due course, be passed on to family.

I'm miffed! How come I haven't had more than the usual boring everyday emails? Why was I overlooked? Greyduster received TWO. I call it favouritism. wink

Maw Keep making us smile. I have skimmed through a few posts and skimming was as far as I wanted to go. Each to his/her own.

annsixty Sun 08-Oct-17 17:02:30

You are both expressing my own feelings very well.
I don't do the games, I don't do the politics and I find other people's marital and other relationship problems get me down, I have enough of my own and my family's to deal with.
Thank goodness the kitchen is always open.
It is pot roast brisket, Yorkshire puds and cauliflower cheese here tonight. All welcome but bring your own wine, I'm not sharing mine.

soop Sun 08-Oct-17 17:17:47

Maw That is a delightful photograph. And yes, it reminds me of the very same advertisement.

grannyqueenie grin

N&G Charabanc! That word conjures up images of stylish transport of yesteryear and folk determined to have a wonderful time, the day we went to Bangor. I'm sure you'll remember that catchy song. If not blush my apologies.

I would so love my very own upmarket garden retreat. Something modern, well insulated and safe from a certain lovely man who enjoys storing all manner of clutter because you never know when it might come in handy. Today I asked him why he was keeping some object or other. It has stood on the window sill for a very long time. He handled the object with great tenderness and said...Oh, yes, I may need this sometime. With that, he put it down on another window sill and walked away. I've my beady eye on it!

A new photo taken at our Granddaughter's wedding arrived today. It includes my eldest son and his wife. Why oh why did that blasted silk rose finish up on the top of my head. It wasn't meant to be.

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-17 17:19:11

Well, I'm fed up! I really fancy food at your house ann, I just love cauliflower cheese, but I'm on a bland diet for a day or two. sad

I've been craving a take away curry for quite a while but the one in the village closed down to be replaced by a Turkish kitchen shock I never had any ill effects from eating the food because they cooked authentically prepared food - so no gluten. People have been raving about a new restaurant in the next village so DH went and collected a meal which we really enjoyed. Until 2 am, when it became apparent that their cooking wasn't quite so authentic. DH and I ate the same thing and he had no problems so the obvious conclusion is GLUTEN!!

I had to miss watching Bertie in his first ever football match - he didn't notice my absence as his beloved Pa was there but I did want to go and watch, especially as he scored!! DH said it was bedlam as they are all under 6 but Bertie got really muddy and smiled the whole time!! grin

Enjoy your meal, ann. wine

Keep packing N&G.

And why was I not offered the change to acquire zillions of cash? confused

soop Sun 08-Oct-17 17:21:33

annsixty I would enjoy joining you for supper. It's such a pity that I cannot reach you on my jet propelled broomstick. It's conked out! Nothin's made to last these days. grin

soop Sun 08-Oct-17 17:23:09

kitty Commiserations. hmm

Charleygirl Sun 08-Oct-17 17:51:52

ann if you do not mind I will not be joining you because I also am having cauliflower cheese, with other vegetables to have with my steak. I opened a bottle of wine last night and I am certain that tonight will finish off this bottle.

I also feel a bit miffed because I was not invited to spend my change of a few million. No doubt something exciting will appear and let's face it, I am making so much money daily I will not miss it.

I also am not a friend of the politics or games threads.

It is getting darker so much earlier now- I think that winter is lurking around the corner.

callgirl1 Sun 08-Oct-17 19:09:38

It`s David`s first anniversary today. We all gathered in the hospice garden late morning, released a few balloons, bio-degradable, then went onto a pub in the country just outside town for Sunday roast dinner. They bought me some lovely flowers.
By a coincidence Ann, there was cauliflower cheese on offer as well, but as I`m not a cauli fan, I didn`t partake.
Maw, you sound in better spirits these last couple of days, I hope that means that things are going along a bit better?
Soop, that`s a lovely photo.

annsixty Sun 08-Oct-17 19:32:21

flowers callgirl. How quickly that has gone for us , but not for you I expect.
How nice that your family gathered to mark the day and you all had a meal together.
I hope your memories today are happy ones.

Bellanonna Sun 08-Oct-17 19:59:33

Goodness, Callgirl, I can’t believe a year has passed since David sadly passed away. I’m glad you had a happy family gathering today.

Swanny Sun 08-Oct-17 20:02:27

Dear Kitchen Friends, thanks again for being there. (And yes, you are all important enough to warrant Capital Letters) grin

Got a bad dose of my autumn blues at the moment but have been reading your posts daily, even if I haven't felt like answering sad N&G I'm so pleased for you that 'your new house' was still for sale and if there's any room left on the chara I'd love to visit. I'm not too keen on housework but am quite good at supervising others and inspecting their efforts grin Maw as I was reading your post about your visitors I was thinking Oh no, Maw has enough to cope with already But it sounds as though you did cope and Paw had a good boost to his spirits. Kitty so sorry to hear you missed Bertie's footie match. My DS, aged about 11 at the time, had a goalkeeper trial for our local professional league club. It was at short notice and he was staying with his dad as I was away for work at the time. I knew nothing of it till I rang him that night but oh, how I wish I'd been there. He wasn't successful but not every boy even had the chance smile Soop your book of photos sounds delightful. Maybe I can borrow DS's scanner and do similar with my old photos for him and DGS. My mother had old photos from her childhood and war years with the WRAF that I loved looking at till she told me she'd chucked them out without ever thinking I might like to keep them sad

On a more serious note N&G I'm sorry to hear about your discomfort over Jackson and other children's choice of words. I had an experience I wasn't comfortable with a week last Friday when collecting DGS from school. Another boy of about his age kept running in front of us then turning round and going WAAH! in his face. The boy's mother and younger brother were close by but she did nothing. DGS, who is autistic, wasn't sure whether to laugh or be frightened. I didn't know if this was a (special unit) classmate with similar difficulties or just a nasty piece of work. I'd glared at the mother to no avail so held DGS back till they'd moved away. I then asked him if he knew the boy, to which he replied that the boy chased him at playtime. I told DS and DDiL who informed the school and we had no problems this Friday. DGS has called me a f...... stupid Grandma in the past when having a meltdown and I've just told him I don't like those words and don't want him to say them in my house. They've obviously been picked up at school as his parents don't use 'that word' at home. Thankfully he's taken that on board and his meltdowns are also becoming more rare as he's getting older. They do still occur though and as a result are all the more remarkable.

To Charley , corner, Grayduster, Galen and everyone else in the kitchen I send my love and my plea to keep posting here. I've occasionally strayed to the dark side but have scurried back to the sanctuary that is soop 's kitchen x

Swanny Sun 08-Oct-17 20:07:26

callgirl how quickly that year has flown for me but I'm sure it's been different for you. Sending (((hugs))) and flowers and hope things become easier for you as time goes by x

MawBroon Sun 08-Oct-17 20:12:47

That year has indeed flown by Callgirl but what a lovely way to celebrate David’s life flowers
I thought some of her Aunties might like to see Hattie watching “Addicted To Sheep” grin
The farmer whistling for the sheepdog really confused her!

MawBroon Sun 08-Oct-17 20:15:01

The title boy explaining “tupping” was hilarious - so sweet!

Galen Sun 08-Oct-17 20:52:28

Grrr! Invited her next door to dinner last night! Bellydraft of pork.
1 cooked pork to instructions, wouldn’t crackle!
2 it was tough, inedible and tasteless
3 halfway through cooking! I could no longer bear weight on my ankle and she had to finish it!
On the plus side -: the chateau Neuf de Pape was very nice.

I’m taking her out to lunch to compensate

Galen Sun 08-Oct-17 21:15:49

Don’t know what I’d o wihout you lot!

Galen Sun 08-Oct-17 21:16:27

I’d do!

Charleygirl Sun 08-Oct-17 21:23:20

Maw I think that it is official, I have totally lost it calling Hattie Harriet a page or two ago.

She does look intrigued watching the TV.

callgirl I cannot believe that it is a whole year- what a lovely family you have flowers

Galen it sounds as though your cooking is the same standard as my own. At least you will enjoy lunch out tomorrow. Do not drink too much.

oldgoat Sun 08-Oct-17 23:01:33

mawbroon Oscar loves watching sheep on the television, too. I really enjoyed "Addicted to sheep". The children were so matter-of-fact and mature about life and death on the farm. It looks like a pretty hard life for the parents though.
We have had a lovely sunny day in North Yorkshire today and took the GSs and their Dad to Dalby Forest to swing through the trees on the Go Ape course. Younger GS is just 10 and 142cm tall so he was allowed on the adult course. I decided to stay on the ground and take photos..
Then we drove over the Moors to Whitby and enjoyed fish and chips from the famous Magpie Café. There were three rescue greyhounds sitting next to us being fed on chips. Don't know how they keep their slim figures. Oscar was only allowed a bit of white fish because he'd eaten something disgusting a couple of days ago and had his first proper trip to the vets.
Love to everybody in the Kitchen.

callgirl1 Sun 08-Oct-17 23:02:34

To everyone who has remarked on it, the family and myself said this morning that it really doesn`t feel like a year. We`ll be going back to Kintyre to say hello next April.
Maw, I love that photo of Hattie.
CharleyG, I noticed your slip up with Hattie`s name, but didn`t mention it in case you had insider information about Hattie`s "proper" name!
Galen, shame about the pork. Mine usually crackles, but it gets taken off and thrown away, as we don`t like crackling.
