How many times can a 4 year old say "Nanna" in five minutes?

I'm with Alima, my two grandsons( 3yrs & 15months) are in Australia, we met up with my son & family recently in Thailand (not such a long flight) Every morning in the hotel restaurant for breakfast the oldest (3yrs) would see us as he entered and run to wards us shouting Grandpaaa! This memory & the havoc they reeked at breakfast ?will have to last for 18months/ 2years before we see them again. In the meantime we keep in contact with FaceTime. We have just enjoyed a peanut butter sandwich & fruit with them. Very messy but wonderful.

To me Granny is the best name I’ve ever had. I just love that wee voice saying Granny. Best experience of my life.

Savour all the Nans..Nanna's and Grandma's as long as you can! My Grandson is 10 and still runs to me for hugs ... my granddaughter is 5 and she doesn't so much love a cuddle...just so different kids.She was helping me to tidy her bedroom after school the other day and she said Friday was gonna be 'mufti' day and she was wearing her Spider Man costume... but said the mask was unstitched.I asked her where mummy kept her sewing things ... she looked sideways at me !!! So I re-phrased it and ask her where the needles and cottons were kept...this time she turned full on to me and says " Nanny!! Mummy's not a Granny". Mmmmm ... my daughter was never one of the domestic sorts. But did we laugh when I told her the tale!

My just 15 year old DGS still gives me a hug and says 'love you Nan'.
We are away on holiday at the moment and Dd3 sent me a "messagesaying that every time the doorbell sounds or the dogs bark DGS ( 20 months) runs to the door shouting "Nana Nana" Can't wait for him to be right when we get back.

We are all so lucky! It has been the very best time of my life being a Grandma.

I help out at my grandsons toddler group and it is the joy of my life when he shouts ''mamar" from the other side of the hall with his little boy voice. He's not two yet and is adorable.

I love it when my youngest granddaughter, two next month, kisses the phone when we are on Facetime and says Nanny, nanny. We don't live close to them and I
love to see her smiling face when she sees me on the screen.

My 5yo gd manages to slip 'grandma ' into every sentence. Never realised how much until neighbour said she knew when she was here cos all she could hear in garden was 'grandma can you/will you .... ' !

Yesterday three year old grandson put his arms round me and gave me a big cuddle and kiss followed by 'Granny would you like to play trains with me'. Which I obviously did!

How many of us with dgc living the other side of the world would love the chance to hear the 'nan' word other than by courtesy of the internet.
Our little ones are not little ones for long so make the most of it before they fly our nests.

'Grandad' is the most popular word to yell in our house from all 7 of the GC. He is the fount of all knowledge; with whacky ideas.........Then it's 'Grandma' for food, wiping bums, drinks, putting on shoes........I'm sure you can get the picture

It was the day my 9 year old Grandson shouted "are you listening Grandmama" I realised it was all going over my head and I had stoped listening to......... granma granma we all Curled up laughing . one of many beautiful memories I have with my now teen age grand children.

.....but it's the best name I have ever been called !

My little grandson has only just began to talk. I cannot think of a nicer sound when he says nana. It sends tingle up and down my spine.

With one of our DGD's it was always "Excuse me" even if she wasn't interrupting anyone.

I have 5 yr old twin grandchildren and whenever they are with me it's 'granny.......' granny....... granny....... but they are moving to New Zealand soon and I am soooooooo going to miss 'granny......'!

Nothing better than my DGS calling Nanny come & play please? My DGD sings Nan Nan Nan Nan. Love them both sooo much!

I tell my wee one (who's been here all week poorly too) I'm changing my name from 'grandma '!!
I wouldn't change her for all the tea in China either, despite a challenging week!

Miss those young days. My gd is now nearly 17 when I remind her of things she said when she was little she says 'so embarrising'.

It's music to my ears, though it's 'Nanna' every five seconds.
The other day, DGD gave me one of her melting big-blue-eyes looks and said "You are the bestest Nanna in the world!"
What could I do but reach out for a hug, at which point she said "Gerrof me, I too hot!"

So resonate with all these comments. My little darling GS can only string three or four words together so far but will often just say "Nanna" and then I wait for some pearl of wisdom to drop from his lips and he just says "Nanna" again - it's all in the intonation isn't it! I guess they learn early on that this gets our attention as (so far) I always reply, "Yes Jack?" and I count my blessings every time that I am here to receive his attention and affection.

Our DGS is 5 and a bit now. For years he has managed to fit a "Nana" in to every sentence and he does chat a lot! Love listening to him, because he has spent a lot of time with us he often prattles on sounding like a little old man. Another sound I want to bottle is him hurtling down the garden or anywhere else shouting " Grandaaad" at the top of his voice. We are so lucky.
