Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, 'Nabucco,' (excellent choice MissDeke!) - sung by the Black Mountain Chorus of Wales
'The Bedstead Men' - Flanders and Swann
Derek Guyler and his Washboard - any tune
It feels like cutting dear old friends to have to leave so many off! I too have always wondered how the 'Desert Island Discs' guests manage it.
Re. funeral music, I sometimes seriously consider having 'The Great Escape' theme at mine. Also that marvelous number from 'The King and I' about asking for one more day (can't remember the name of it to save my life; it ends with the line 'Is a puzzlement') as well as the 'Coronation Street' tune! Perhaps 'Sheep May Safely Graze' would be more appropriate as I do love my lamb chops. ;)
There's one from the late 60's, or more likely early 70's, which I have always adored but suddenly (rather frighteningly) can't really remember anything about. Would be on the list if I weren't so sodding thick! Something about being happy ... but then it's from a time when lots of songs were about happiness, so that don't really narrow it down much do it? Perhaps it will come back.
