Nice news at this current troubled time. Hope the Queen is on GN now. She certainly qualifies as a Gran. Soop's kitchen your Majesty?

I am indifferent to the news really. The Queen had four children. It's not as though they'll ever see their newborns as 'another mouth to feed', is it?

I feel a little bit uncomfortable about a huge monarchy. The Queen has done a grand job but modern royalty is becoming more and more like 'celebrity' and as for Kate being poorly, we have to remember she has an army of servants to see to her every need, plus doctors on hand, cooks, nannies for the children and chauffeurs to take her places. She may feel sick but getting over it it is all she has to worry about. I wish her well.

Meanwhile, Harry is having trysts with his film star in exclusive locations, the elders are enjoying time in their secluded castles, shooting a few stags, and William can have as much time off as he needs to be with his family. Who knows what they are up to right now? Pimms on the lawn, courtesy of servants? Is Beatrice basking in the sun on a friend's private island somewhere?

The privilege rankles a bit. I have often said there will always be a sector of society that is obscenely wealthy and there isn't much we can do about it, but I am beginning to find the monarchy a bit of an anachronism. I do feel it should be whittled down and I do feel they should have to do more for their privileges.

I am not quite sure how we bring that about. It'll never happen I suppose. I cannot say that Mr and Mrs Wales producing lots of children fills me with delight. They are producing the rich, island-basking teenagers of the future.

No different from the Beckhams really.

It was just a joke!!!! - honest folks. smile

I had 3 too so maybe I am one!

I was just surprised she had embarked on another, given her appalling pregnancies. Maybe she will put on a couple of pounds after this pregnancy just to make us normal mortals feels a bit better!

Moocow Mon 04-Sept-17 14:01:06

Had same sickness with mine so know how dibilitating it can be. Not the time to be out in public!

nanaK54 Mon 04-Sept-17 13:40:47

Well I am delighted for them smile as I would be for any couple looking forward to the birth of a new baby

FarNorth Mon 04-Sept-17 13:40:13

"fill the news with it", exactly. Are we so easily distracted?

Anniebach Mon 04-Sept-17 13:35:10

Merlotgran, he did work forty hours a month as a helicopter pilot when he became the daddy

Anniebach Mon 04-Sept-17 13:32:40

Nothing wrong with him having six children, we don't have to house them for life comparing an MP with a Windsor is rather silly . Unless one of his six marries one of Williams three or more.

NanaandGrampy Mon 04-Sept-17 13:29:13

Brood mare?? Really?? Or a young , happily married woman who wants ( and can afford) another child?.

Congratulations from me , and you can fill the news with it ( better than imminent nuclear war, Donald Trump or Brexit,
!!!)

ninathenana Mon 04-Sept-17 13:29:12

I don't the 3 is a largish family. The brood mare quip is a bit mean.
I admire her for going through another pregnancy. D had the same problems and was hospitalized twice with 1st and three times with 2nd.

merlotgran Mon 04-Sept-17 13:28:13

I had three children in five years (11 months between the first two) and suffered terrible morning sickness with all three so I'm not 'coming down on them' but it's pretty obvious that William is not yer actual workaholic.

Light hearted comments about Royal events (apart from really sad ones) are to be expected.

I hope Kate recovers soon.

gillybob Mon 04-Sept-17 13:23:27

How on earth will pW take a year off from doing nothing?

I don't think I could stand another years worth of royal baby crap.

Tegan2 Mon 04-Sept-17 13:22:33

Nothing to do with him being a Tory [other than his voting habits]. But I seem to recall being castigated for criticising him for having so many children [live and let live and all that] and yet people are coming down on William and Kate for having a large'ish family.

Anniebach Mon 04-Sept-17 13:15:59

Thank you Cherry.

What in earth has Rees-Mogg to do with this? Did he take a year off on full pay? Do we pay for his family to be housed?

Tory bashing again , sad

kittylester Mon 04-Sept-17 13:14:25

Another brood mare here! 6 pregnancies, 5 babies.

Very brave of her since she gets so ill! I'm chuffed for them too.

merlotgran Mon 04-Sept-17 13:13:17

We're not paying for Jamie's as well are we?? shock shock

Christinefrance Mon 04-Sept-17 13:10:55

I'm pleased for them but understand Kate is again suffering with the sickness problem. Brave of her to do it again I think.

CherryHatrick Mon 04-Sept-17 13:09:14

Jacob Rees-Mogg

Anniebach Mon 04-Sept-17 13:05:14

Who is JRM?

MawBroon Mon 04-Sept-17 12:58:54

luckygirl I have three daughters, the older two were 6 and 4 when I had DD3 and I had lost a child before I had the girls, so 4 babies) No way did I consider myself a brood mare!!
Kate is one of three herself, so why shouldn't she have another baby?
What about Jamie Oliver -5 isn't it?

Luckygirl Mon 04-Sept-17 12:49:36

She's like a brood mare!! grin I am quite surprised really, as she has fulfilled the "heir and a spare" and she has grim pregnancies poor woman.

Tegan2 Mon 04-Sept-17 12:46:02

Well; people seem happy enough for JRM to have umpteen children and, to the best of my knowledge William doesn't go out of his way to take away benefits for the poorer members of society so I wish him well. In fact, am quite chuffed with the news.

Anniebach Mon 04-Sept-17 12:42:22

Definitely not merlotgran ? Unlike other fathers he wants to spend time with his children . He should try living on paternity pay

merlotgran Mon 04-Sept-17 12:37:50

I must admit as soon as I read the news I thought of the recent 'full Royal duties' announcement.

Maybe not.

hmm

glammanana Mon 04-Sept-17 12:35:42
