I too hate "amazing"-but actually it's more the frequency with which it is used.
Radio 2 presenters appear to not have any other adjective to describe anything good which actually may not be that amazing!

I hate 'panties' too - I imagine it being said with a salacious dribbly grin like Benny Hill or a sex-starved teenager.
A phrase I dislike is 'quarter of a century' - it's nowhere near as long as 100 years so why not just say '25 years' - it smacks of trying to make it seem grander than it really is.

I read a death notice the other day and it said that the person had 'transitioned'!

'Y'know' about 3 times in every sentence someone speaks. Unfortunately DH has got into the habit of this. It is driving me mad. Any ideas about how I can tactfully ask him to stop?

My mum would never allow us to say that. We had to say "fibber" - it doesn't have half the impact.

I dislike people being described as 'liars', particularly when the phrase is 'you liar'. Awful.
