Hang the washing out

I put the washing out whenever possible. I love the smell specially when I iron it. I also have a line across where the boiler is when the weather is bad. Tumble dryer for emergencies or a quick fluff up for towels

I hang out laundry all year round. Look at weather forecast, then choose best drying day. Have several washing lines on patio, so can create an outdoor Chinese laundry effect!

Absolutely not! I get a huge kick when I see my washing flapping away in a good drying breeze. Mind you there's a reverse bashing when I'm ogling the goggle and haven't noticed the rain starting. Ugh! I'm much too mean to use the tumbler.

l also hang washing out at night, l have a balcony. l have hay fever so at night the count is low. no space for a tumble dryer anyway, l have an airing cupboard that had a tank, its got rails & even a little radiator in there

I put the washing out when it isn't raining or too cold. My fingers go white if they get cold, and I lose feeling.
So the answer is yes, in summer, and no, in winter...

I hate putting washing out on the rotary, most times it either isn't dry when I bring it in or it rains, even though I do check the weather forecast first.

We have a utility cupboard where the boiler and hot water tank are and it's always warm in there. I have an airer in there and 80% of the time that is where I dry my laundry.

I do start the towels off in the tumble dryer as I find they get fluffier, but that's the only time I use it!

We have a washer/dryers and DH and myself each do our own washing. He uses fabric softener and tumble dries everything as he says they feel to rough and hard when line dried. I do not use fabric softener as I find the smells too strong and by preference would line dry everything. We don't have central heating so when the weather is too cold or wet I hang most of my clothes on an airer and put it in front of the gas fire in the living room. At his insistence towels are tumble dried but sheets go out on the line.

Where I live in London there is a covenant that prevents us from hanging washing in our gardens. Occasionally I cheat a little and lay towels on chairs outside. Nearly everything is dried on an old fashioned clothes rack at ceiling height which is winched up and down on pulleys. I do have a washer/dryer but very rarely use the dryer.

I always put the washing out on the line if it's a nice day. I have 2 big lines on a retractable reel so they just wind up when not in use. I have a tumble dryer which is useful in Winter, or for just finishing off things off the line if they are not completely dry. I am always mindful of the electricity bill and think it's a waste of money to use the dryer in Summer.

I live in an apartment so I dry my clothes on a clothes horse or airer for those who don't know what that is. I have an airing cupboard, we manage ok. We do have shared garden with a rotary line behind the garages but I don't use it
I do miss my garden I could hang my washing out nothing like drying your washing outside.

I always hang the washing outside if I possibly can. I love the clean, sweet smell when it is brought indoors. The previous owner of our house left a very good tumble dryer. I gave it to DD. She works so can wash only at weekends. The tumble dryer is a God send to her in the winter. We manage very well without

Drying outdoors means hopefully the powerful rays of sun get to clothes to provide extra level of cleanliness. I take back in before fully dry then finish with iron and indoors airer or maybe onto a radiator or hot press in winter.

Recently moved to a flat which, although it has a large communal garden, the "rules" say "no washing lines". Goodness knows why, there's plenty of room for all 6 flats to have a rotary line. I miss drying things outside.☹️

Put mine out every chance I get. I love the feel of it and the small of it when it's dried in the garden. Everyone along our road hangs washing out, most have a line which some leave out and some take in. Ours is on a rotary so I can hang it standing on the patio when the grass is wet.

I too like to dry my washing outdoors on a rotary dryer, but if I don't have room, I festoon nearby bushes including a lavender bush which gives my underwear a nice fragrance?

I've never used a tumble dryer - have no space for one. I do prefer washing to be dried outside on the line, but sometimes, mobility is a bit of a problem. Mostly it gets dried indoors on an airer in the kitchen.

Not seeing washing out hadn't occurred to me but now you mention it I don't see much washing out although we are surrounded by student houses albeit with long gardens and some have clothes posts so they could hang it out. I and my neighbours on either side always hang out washing although I never hang it out on Sundays. I don't have a tumble dryer but on damp or wet days it soon dries on the rack in the bathroom. I have some plastic loops from Lakeland that hook over the washing line and take a coat hanger, great for shirts and jumpers. On windy days I don't usually need to iron

I hate hanging the washing out but do so on my twirly, weather permitting. If it looks even remotely like it will rain (and it's chucking it down at the moment) it either goes on a couple of clothes horses in the 'laundry room' or I postpone wash day until things improve.
What I loathe is when you peg out the last item and it starts to rain - it really annoys me - I haven't much patience these days - I do hope my neighbour's little boy can't hear me swearing under my breath when this happens.

I hang my washing out when the weather is good enough, then finish off in the tumble drier to soften towels and take the creases out of jersey fabrics.
But my husband absolutely loves the tumble drier and has toasted many an item to a crisp in there.

I LOVE hanging my washing out on my rotary line, I do as often as I can during the Summer, unfortunately where we live this cant be done during the winter months, guess who longs for the spring, during the long winter months? Excuse me I must take the washing in!

All my washing goes on the line, Summer and Winter. Love the clean fresh air smell and it's free, what's not to love!

I have a cover for my rotary line I like to fold it up and cover it up - naked whirligig washing lines offend my delicate sensibilities. (The covers are about £4 in B & Q).
