Found out something new about yourself?

I already know that about myself, pre retirement. I'm planning on being more of the same when I get to around 100 the government lets me retire!

I have discovered that I am quite lazy and a champion procrastinator.
Should be cleaning bedroom as we speak! Oh well, always tomorrow!

I've discovered I like working so am continuing to do so 3 days a week.
I am loving having 4 days off too. Well not quite off at the moment withDGS 3 days /week for the summer.

However, I think know what I mean. I could be Jalima1108, in addition choose a nom de plume like J.A.Lima and also call myself Me Myself I (apologies to Joan Armatrading).

Going back to the OP, the passion I've discovered since retiring is having time to contemplate or potter or chat to neighbours or jump on a bus and go wherever it goes or watch daytime tv (when it's raining!) or browse in Harrods or spend all day on GN or ... anything that doesn't have to be done like cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping

Having multiple usernames sounds like having an argument in an empty room

If you have three personas on GN you could have fun agreeing with yourself, or even argue with yourself and call yourself names.?

I have discovered that I am a very good procrastinator.

I have discovered a love of cycling and ride as much as possible.

And I have astonished myself by finding out that I actually like growing things. I've never had so much going on in my garden (not necessarily successfully, but definitely enthusiastically)

I think you are very likeable Kitty and understanding particularly when last year I very rudely made negative comments about the village you lived in. You cut me a bit of slack as I didn't really know the area at all.

The thing I have learned about myself is that I am a much more patient grandmother than I was as a mother.

I discovered that I'm good at various crafts. I've always been able to knit, sew and crotchet but now I make cards, gifts , Christmas decks , all sorts.

And I've discovered after many years of an often 4 hr daily commute that I have time for so many far more interesting things than work :-)

It's always worth checking the Book Club recommendations btw, I've found some really terrific books thanks to suggestions from Grans.

Elegran - thanks for sparing Jane10's blushes by revealing her nom de plume. Department stores are a dying breed I believe. I hope the "goings on" are as funny as "Are You Being Served?"!!!

I have never dipped into the "Book club" topic on GN so I must see what they recommend. A friend told me the other day he reads only factual books because life is short and he has so much to learn.

All that remains is for that other bashful Gransnetter Illtellhim to reveal her/his alter egos! Come on, Illtellhim - Anya and Morgana are dying to know your other names on Gransnet.

I'm more curious about why you feel the need to have 3 different personae. I find that having just one of my own is more than enough to be going on with.

Good on you Jane and anybody else who has discovered a hidden talent since retiring.All that I have discovered is an innate lazyness, however I am very much enjoying it! ?

I have discovered a 'talent' for diy and am working my way through my house from top to bottom. So far so good. Upstairs duly completed. Every now and again my mojo gogos and my beautiful state of retirement allows me to pander to that by going fallow. However I was in the shed checking on paint and brushes this week so..... watch this space! Great sense of satisfaction.......

Oh Elegran! I don't mean to go on about my books/writing etc its just that that's what I actually do. Its my life. Mostly I watch TV though!
Elegran came to both my book launches and I hardly had to bribe her at all! You're all invited to the next launch but I'll have to write the book first so there might be a bit of a wait.
I've got another story in the People's Friend next month if anyone's desperate but no launch for that.
