If you could afford it......

We have just come back from visiting our daughter in new York and we went across on the Queen Mary 2 because I couldn't face the hanging about at immigration with my dodgy knee. We had the most wonderful time on the ship and would do it again like a shot. If I had lots of money, I would make a habit of doing this and go and visit our daughter more often as it is such a lovely way of getting there. I would also give a lot of money to some of our small local charities as they do such a great job.

Lovely, Phoebes. DD1 went to New York for her honeymoon and they went out on the QM2. They were spoilt rotten.

I would buy a small single storey house in either France or Spain...Oh and a camper van to travel around Europe and Scandinavia!

I love living near the sea, so make my flat a little bigger? OK re-roof and put in dormer windows, so the bedrooms don't have sloped ceilings.

I would just like to have enough money to be able to pay off the mortgages for our DS and DDs. They are all such hard workers and really struggle sometimes to make the money stretch each month. Knowing they were mortgage free would make me happier than any material things I could go out and buy.

You know I said I'd have a new roof - just in case. Could I have the money now please!!

A home for me and OH. Possibly in Nerja. Never been but lived in Spain and speak Spanish. Plus one for son. We had a detached house in the UK and one on the Costa Blanca but lost them both in the recession. Would love to leave son money.

Shoes? Not for me as fancy shoes hurt my wide feet. Like handbags but have enough. I think holidays in the warm. I no longer have to worry about the bills as we have enough to cover them, no longer having house maintenance. Like eating out so could go Michelin. I have flown a small plane. So has son. Could be very tempted.

Same as Ness; I sometimes do the lottery and spend all day dreaming of paying off my childrens mortgages [which includes buying a bigger house for my son who lives in a tiny house that they're bursting out of]. However, for me I'd buy a cottage in Cornwall, although would try to buy one that was a semi so that a young, local family could live in the other one, as I worry about holiday homes preventing local people from buying properties.

A house that doesn't leak! This one without leaks would be fine. And a garden big enough to keep beehives - woodland and bee-friendly wildflowers would be lovely. I'd have to move for that though.

Catterygirl, it's not fancy shoes I like, it's comfy ones! I don't mean Cosyfeet slippers, I mean good makes like Ecco, Piccolino, Josef Seibel etc. I can't bear high heels either, or any shoes that pinch my chunky feet. I have just bought some new sandals by Think! (silly name) which look quite dressy but have Velcro fastenings everywhere, so they're really comfy. Not cheap, but they were in a sale ....

A cleaner, followed by house for my son, give the gc some money and first class travel for us on the plane to SE Asia My OH had an accident in Laos a few years back and needed an operation on his knee. When we came home he was upgraded by the insurance people but I wasn't. Also have some more dental implants done. Also give my friend £4000 to build house so I would need a lot of money. Nice dreaming

Books are top of my list and if money was plentiful I'd stretch to a big enough house to have a proper den/study/personal library. We would also love enough land and the finances to have some sort of an animal sanctuary. Oh well, nice to have dreams.

I quite like doing my own shopping, cleaning, ironing and gardening, so wouldn't want anyone to do that for me. And In the main I have a happy contented life.
I think I might like a few more cruises each year but mostly I would spend my money on my DCs and DGDs A large house near us for DS and family and enough money so he could work at what he loves. Similarly for DD

A small house near our DD in England and another near our DS in Spain so we can visit more easily. A holiday home for all of us on the Roussillon coast near Collioures.
We have a library full of books (c3000) in our house here. I very rarely go in there and read on my Kindle nearly all the time. I also worry about how to get rid of them if we need to downsize. ?

I would like to spend money on our beautiful 400 year old farmhouse which I've lived in for 36 years. We've done a lot to it over the years but now it needs some major work doing- I'd love a conservatory too and perhaps a pool complex. I'd have it all decorated by real professionals, not just me and DH! Then the bed linen fairy would come every day & change the sheets. Whilst the work was being done, we'd take a world cruise in the Captain's Suite....

A beautiful sea view, a chauffeur when needed, clean bed linen every day changed by the bed linen fairy, private medical care, but above all mortgage free homes for our family. In fact reverse the order. .

I came into a little money 2 years ago and right away I knew what I wanted to do do with it. I took my 3 Dgc to Disneyworld in Florida. I blew the lot, but I've given them and dh some great memories.
