If you could afford it......

A home for me and OH. Possibly in Nerja. Never been but lived in Spain and speak Spanish. Plus one for son. We had a detached house in the UK and one on the Costa Blanca but lost them both in the recession. Would love to leave son money.

Shoes? Not for me as fancy shoes hurt my wide feet. Like handbags but have enough. I think holidays in the warm. I no longer have to worry about the bills as we have enough to cover them, no longer having house maintenance. Like eating out so could go Michelin. I have flown a small plane. So has son. Could be very tempted.

You know I said I'd have a new roof - just in case. Could I have the money now please!!

I would just like to have enough money to be able to pay off the mortgages for our DS and DDs. They are all such hard workers and really struggle sometimes to make the money stretch each month. Knowing they were mortgage free would make me happier than any material things I could go out and buy.

Sorting out my children's house ownership definitely, re-carpeting the house yes.
I love living near the sea, so make my flat a little bigger? OK re-roof and put in dormer windows, so the bedrooms don't have sloped ceilings.

I would buy a small single storey house in either France or Spain...Oh and a camper van to travel around Europe and Scandinavia!

Lovely, Phoebes. DD1 went to New York for her honeymoon and they went out on the QM2. They were spoilt rotten.

We have just come back from visiting our daughter in new York and we went across on the Queen Mary 2 because I couldn't face the hanging about at immigration with my dodgy knee. We had the most wonderful time on the ship and would do it again like a shot. If I had lots of money, I would make a habit of doing this and go and visit our daughter more often as it is such a lovely way of getting there. I would also give a lot of money to some of our small local charities as they do such a great job.

I would have a cleaner, gardener and a chauffeur. I would have the house decorated, not by me. I would probably have a cook and housekeeper to buy all the necessities. I would lie back and read, read and read. More bookshelves required so a handyman. I would like to buy the sun if possible to shine on me lying in my beautifully tended garden. Not a possibility but a pleasant thought.

A villa on every inhabited Greek Island .(227 in total)
Each with a well stocked bar and library. Heaven!

If money was no object, we would get a contractor in to rebuild our bathroom, including the indoor and outdoor drains. And I dream of a gardener as I enjoy housework but loathe gardening.

I'm with the book people - you can never have enough books, can you?

A flat in Rome and one in Vienna to pop down to, whenever we wanted AND one in Marseille - A country house in Spain with a sanctuary for Iberian wild cats in conjunction with a Spanish university's veterinary students.

A vintage Rolls Royce with red Rs - from before Royce died and the logo went into mourning for DH and a Morgan for me.

Support for girls' schools and training colleges in India and Africa and scholarships for their brothers as well.

I was going to say have the downstairs of our house remodelled, move the kitchen, put in patio doors and have a nice dining/seating area so we can look out onto the garden, but after reading other posts I've changed my mind, I want a house by the sea!!

A house by the sea. Ideally in Cape Town but since I wouldn't like to be away from my kids and grandkids it would have to be in Scotland. Although I guess if money were wishes I could have a beautiful holiday home by the sea in Cape Town as well as one here!

Same here Monica. Books. But most of all I would spend it on my son with pleasure. I'd love to buy him a house.

Mines is probably the place I was thinking about. Don't think I've been to Nerja then and shall not be going now. Will never fly again.

Diddy we think the same way. After having dozens of holidays in Cornwall I've always dreamed of a house with sea views near Tintagel, so I could see the fabulous sunsets every day. I would live there half the year and have all the family visiting it whenever they wanted. Four or five bedrooms would do. I don't want to be greedy!

Travelling more than I do these days, and I do a lot. Most important, a house in Cornwall, I wouldnt want any more!

Seems there are a lot of Nerja fans on here. Who'd have thought!! Yes the Balcon de Europa is breaktaking. Frigiliana (small village in the hills above Nerja is even more stunning. I've been all over Spain and speak a small amount so we always try to go to more 'local' places. Cup of coffee in Frigiliana was 40 cents for example!

I would retire! I'm self-employed and will probably have to work until I drop, but I'd love to have the freedom and financial means not to have to work. So many things to do and explore.....!

clothes and shoes, especially if they are in a sale love a bargain.would be nice to get one thing that is expensive.

So many good ideas, but without a doubt I would have underwear, especially bras, and shoes hand made to fit properly.

I would love to pay off the grandkids uni debts and give them a decent deposit for a home to buy rather than rent then donate the rest to the political party which strives the most for fundamental change to our society of poverty homelessness and greed.

Same as m0nica - I'd love to have a slightly larger house with one room dedicated to my obsession - books, books, books. A reclining chair for me to sit back and read.
I'd also have a slightly bigger garden with a wide path down the centre (York paving?) and herbaceous borders on each side. A summer house at the end with trellis and climbing roses, honeysuckle etc. Paradise.

I'd buy a cottage in North Wales, with a large garden for chickens, some geese and a huge plot to grow my own veg. I'd then buy books, then more books, then add an extension on the cottage for a library, where I'd have a huge comfy chair to curl in with a book! I'd also have a butler to serve me coffee and quavers crisps whenever I wanted them. I'd have to have someone in to do the ironing (a job I loathe)... I might even invite the Welsh Blokey (my DH) to join me
