My daughter is in surgery. I am so upset I can hardly think straight. She came off her bike and has abdominal injuries. I should be at the hospital. I should be there for my grandchildren. I should be preparing to look after her while she recuperates. I want to give her a hug. But she is 12000 miles away and I am not well.
I want to book a flight and take a chance on my health but it's 34 hours of travelling and I know I shouldn't and my other children say it would be crazy.
I know that many Gransnetters have children and grandchildren living too far to reach. How do you cope when this kind of thing happens? I feel torn into shreds.
