Tch ... definitely woken up grumpy today:
Catching up on Gn after a l9ng day out yesterday and irritated by some posts I don't agree with to the point I have had to have a 'word' with myself ...
Annoyed that Theresa Mays' bl***y dress is still in the news ...
Fed up that it is apparent that some people cannot tolerate simply joy in others without having to have a snipe ...
Cross that some news on BBC news is not news, but just advertising other programmes ...
Cheesed off because my coffee cup is empty nd the kitchen seems a long way away...
Sad eh?
Usually cheerful, but definitely wrong-side-of bed syndrome today. Hope for DH''s sake that it wears off soon grin grin grin
Anything already got your goat today?

I am grumpy because I upgraded iPad and since then I have to log into gransnet Amazon everything each time even though I tick the stay logged in box. Really fed up. Also Dgc have been saying and dgc1 was given Alexa for a Christmas present. Why does an11 year old need an Alexa thingummy to turn off lights fgs. Furthermore the other child was given a new mattress. As a present.
For Christmas.
And yes I have a torn rotator cuff but was told that everyone over 60 is likely to have a torn rotator cuff and I had a steroid injection . It lasts a couple of years and I think they are willing to give further injections. And my knees hurt. And my toes. And my hips. I'm having a real moanfest today. I shall go and sew and feel better.

It is official Gnetters - all your grumpiness has cheered me up immensely! And, to be honest, made me count my blessings in many places too! But I think this thread could run and run ... I am pretty sure my grumpometer will be zinging again quite soon ...just a question of scale. grin

I am feeling grumpy today, after DH always sees the negative in everything, why is he always right and we others are always wrong? it really gets my goat

Tessa101 Sun 30-Jul-17 12:28:55

This thread made me giggle.

What a nightmare you are having, Jaycee5; you should be able to look forward to a decent day without all this aggravation. This person sounds deranged - nobody normal wants to upset others like this. Keep that chin up, and why not see your councillor face to face at the surgery? Having worked for local government it always seemed to be the personal approach that worked well - you could leave her with a hard copy of your complaints too - and keep going back. Would another neighbour go with you? Escalating this to your local MP is also a useful one - they are there to look after our interests and are paid to do so.

Just as an afterthought missdeke, flies get me almost to screaming pitch, and I have resorted to the old fashioned fly papers. I hate sprays as they contain all sorts of horrors (anything with an 'X' on the tin is a no no in this house) and having smashed a nice item trying to swat one I went to a local shops that sells fly papers that are covered with a fruit based glue. When they have trapped one or two little buzzers I get rid of them and hang a fresh one - I can well remember the horrible sight of fly papers when I was a child, with more fly than paper - Uggh! One suspended in the dining room seems to clear the whole house - worth a try, and about as 'green' as you can get. Good luck.

HootyMcOwlface Sun 30-Jul-17 11:57:02

Oh dear Jaycee5 how awful for you all. I can feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about that awful neighbour you have to suffer. I hope your email does the trick - someone needs a kick in the gonads - perhaps your neighbour?! flowers

Only thing making me grumpy at the moment is a pesky fly, it's been in my kitchen for over a week. I've tried leaving the windows and door open but it refuses to leave I've tried to bash it with a newspaper but miss every time. I even went and bought some fly spray, I followed the instructions, how long to spray for the size of room, how long to leave door shut etc etc, but the little b****r is still there to greet me every morning with a buzz. angry

Fed up with BT's on-off wi-fi service. Also dislike patronizing news broadcasts so turn to other ones for the "truth". Euro news is good. I am divorced .. couldn't live with a selfish man, life has been much better.

I feel grumpy because DH asked DD to organise a holiday abroad for all ten of our family. She has worked so hard, making phonecalls, trawling through the internet and has found a holiday that suits all our requirements. Last night he came home and started saying he didn't like the hotel. It's the one we went to last year and everyone loved it. He is just throwing a spanner into the works for no reason, so grrrrr.........

Jaycee5 Sun 30-Jul-17 10:40:02

I'm grumpy today but going into detail would mean boring everyone with my nightmare neighbour again. We understood that the Council was taking steps to move her but I had a call from a community police officer yesterday who is trying to help who said that the Council are not doing anything. I was awake until 4.30 with the stress and then she woke us all (there are 4 other tenants in the building including me) at 6 this morning with her door slamming which has been going on ever since. She does it because she knows if annoys us. My 81 year old neighbour downstairs with serious heart trouble is now having to sleep in the afternoon when it the only time she is likely to be quiet.
I have sent a two page email to the Council insisting that they let us know what they are doing and asking why we should not instruct a solicitor to force the Council to protect our right to quiet enjoyment of our flats and against a continuing nuisance. I am now fretting because they will probably ring on Monday and I have to be both effective for the other tenants and not angry as normal emotions are not allowed in phone calls nowadays. She does have problems but it is mostly that she likes drama. The police told me that she was evicted from her previous flat for anti social behaviour - so they moved her into a retirement block with people who are all unwell (she is 30 going on 12).
I am going to have to go to the doctor this week to see if I can get some anti anxiety medication (which I haven't needed for about 7 years).
Anyway, ignore me. I'm going to go and send an email to my Councillor and try not to make that too ranty. I'm not sure how much help they can be but she is quite tough.

ladyGracie I don't know about you but when I say painful, I really mean excruciating! I had an ultrasound to confirm diagnosis.

Made me very grumpy after spending A HUGE AMOUNT on a new bed which I thought might help only to discover mattress is too hard and shoulder(s) can't sink into it.
Grrrrrrr for Grumpy!

Good luck with your X-ray. I really really hope it isn't the same thing.

Kim19 Sun 30-Jul-17 10:24:25

Ditto to Teddy123. Radicalnan you certainly caused me to smile this morning. Keep it up, please. And to Imperfect123 I can only say - just think: your day can only get better! I just love the wry wit that manifests itself h ere. Lovely......

LadyGracie Sun 30-Jul-17 10:16:39

Teddy123 and harrigran I've got a painful shoulder as well. I had xrays on Friday. I always seem to be grumpy! Except when I see DGD smile

W11girl Sun 30-Jul-17 10:14:39

Lucky me...I'm never grumpy! I think spending a lot of time listening to music, as I do, and singing in the charity shop where I work (I can't help it!), making the customers laugh, doesn't give me time to be grumpy. I had an elderly gentleman in yesterday looking for "easy listening" music, he wasn't sure about some of the CD's I suggested, so I had to sing most of the songs from them to give him an idea of what was on the CD's. The customers gathered round and some joined in...He was so happy and bought six (they're 3 for a £1) instead of the three he originally came in for. Such Joy.

sluttygran Sun 30-Jul-17 10:11:45

So sorry to hear that you are all feeling grumpy! May I join you?
I looked after DGD age three yesterday, and we had a lovely time baking, making dolls clothes, playdoh, and all sorts of other things dear to a toddler's heart. Much later than agreed, DD swans in after a nice relaxing day out, and says "Oh God - I don't know how you can live in this constant mess!"
She totally ignored the fact that my home had been pristine when she had dropped off DGD.
I must admit that my 'grumpometer ' went right off the scale, but I gritted my teeth and said nothing as DD is heavily pregnant and suffers with OCD.
I prefer to spend my time with little one doing fun things, the tidying up can wait. In fact I was so knackered that's it's waited until this morning, and now the sight of all the chaos has given me another grumpy attack. sad

Alima Sun 30-Jul-17 10:00:28

Oh dear, maybe I shouldn't post on this thread! Me, I am fine, had the best sleep in years. Woke at 10 to seven, last time I slept that long was in DD1's house in Nuneaton in the early noughties. We have a very lazy day ahead, easy lunch planned, the sun is shining and so far every bit of equipment turned on has worked. The cats were happy with their breakfast, one of them will not shut up if she doesn't like what's on offer, is there a cat silencing device available which causes no harm to said cat? Even planning to start the packing for a few days away soon. Seemed the ideal time to book, DH's lung condition is stable, his THR is wonderful and even the labyrinthitis is easing. Do hope your days get better, I am going to relish this time until something leaps up to bite me on the bum and change everything.

Teddy123 Sun 30-Jul-17 09:54:14

radicalnan perhaps you were but you've made me laugh this morning
?

harrigran oooo I've got shoulder problem too diagnosed as needing rotator cuff repair. It's so painful doing most everyday stuff ..... Makes me grumpy too

maryhoffman37 Sun 30-Jul-17 09:50:29

I am more sad than grumpy, having discovered in a journal yesterday that a dear friend had died two months ago. There was no-one to tell me as her son, her only child, had tragically predeceased her three months before. It has just made everything seem rather grey and hopeless this weekend but it will pass. And then I'll go back to being annoyed by little things.

barbaralynne Sun 30-Jul-17 09:49:22

I ought to say to explain my real reason for grumpiness is that this week my oncologist told me that he wanted me to continue with the tablets for another 7yrs not another 2 as I had originally been told............ Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrgh.

barbaralynne Sun 30-Jul-17 09:47:10

Please can I join this group of grumpy women because I am very definitely one! I have been on medication for cancer for 3yrs and it puts me into permanent menopause - so really grumpy. Insomnia and repeated hot flushes. Last night near neighbours had a noisy party that didn't finally quieten down until after 4.00am. When I see them my grumpiness is definitely going to need to be expressed or I will explode!

radicalnan Sun 30-Jul-17 09:42:14

I was born a grumpy old woman and have almost perfected my technique.

Greyduster Sun 30-Jul-17 09:34:23

Take it easy, Harri. Hope it will ease soon.

Sheilasue Sun 30-Jul-17 09:32:37

I get those days to, it's age.....

harrigran Sun 30-Jul-17 09:20:07

I am pretty grumpy at present, painful shoulder means I have to ask for help with reaching for things and even dressing on some days.

Chewbacca Sun 30-Jul-17 09:13:25

I've been having dreadful problems with my Internet provider for weeks and weeks and it's driven me to realms of frustration and grumpiness I didn't know existed. Connection just drops or disappears altogether for hours, and sometimes days, at a time. And it's been going on for WEEKS! But then.... it lulls me into a false sense of security by "working" for extended periods of maybe 2 or 3 days and my optimism rises that, finally, we're sorted and everything is back up and running. And then it vanishes for another day. I've given up even calling their "customer services", but I appreciate the opportunity to vent here, thank you. stomps off, eyeing the hub accusingly
