What have you done today?

Yesterday I blanched and froze another lot of beans. Peeled, stewed and froze some apples and plums. Then helped DH dismantle an old fruit cage. Today it's laundry. Net the ponds before the leaves fall and make a courgettes cake for DD. Also try to finish last sock I am knitting for DH . Sun has just come out so it looks like it will be a nice day.

Did some laundry this morning, then went off for a fishing day at a lake near Matlock. Very unproductive, but always a delightful place to be. Now flaked out in a chair, scruffy and exhausted. Next? A glass of red!

Herded some sheep out of the garden and fixed the fence where they were getting in by making it higher with some cut branches.

Cleared a drain with an 'industrial' plunger, jet wash, soda crystals and hot water. It's now raining stair rods so I'm glad I did that.

Got mucky doing the above.

Had a nap.

And some other things.

Took car to garage to get its service and MOT rushing back in time for a physio appointment which turned out not to exist.
Then into town with DH to meet fellow In Bloomer to measure up to make some more flower tubs.
Back home to snatch sandwiches and head off to stately pile for volunteering duty.
Home in time to pick car up.

How did we all have time to work?

ps it was very nice and all the better for not having to make it from scratch. I did manage to do some salad with it (with some home-grown tomatoes) and now we have the pud to look forward to (with home-grown raspberries).

Yes, it was getting very hard on the feet by that time!!

Picked more tomatoes and courgettes. Drowning in them.
Sorted dates for a September Spanish road trip.
Collected laundry from line and distributed
Made bed
..... cooking supper

Drs first thing, shopping, washing, sorting out things at home, worn out! now having a restorative and the oven is beeping

Today husband decided he was going to fix the leak from the waste pipe in the upstairs bathroom which has resulted in damaged ceiling in the kitchen below.
He seems to have done it PG (why not get a plumber in?) and I've just finished clearing up the mess from water, plasterboard, mouse nests, dust etc. (Why not get a plasterer?)

Up very early to prepare for a specially-called meeting with a society whose committee I am on. A notoriously difficult ordinary member is raising Cain over a very trivial matter. Got a train to the meeting location. Got my daily walk in walking between station and meeting venue. To my relief the meeting went off a lot better than expected.

Got the train home and DH met me at the station and took me to Prezzo for lunch so I could wind down. Since getting home I have done some gardening and will do more later, very soothing, and am now contributing to Gransnet, with a Gransnet meet-up in Swindon to look forward to tomorrow. I can now think about things other than that wretched meeting.

Went for a walk with DH this morning, quick lunch then a walk with DD and DGD, I've had my exercise for today. Salad for dinner

We all spent a lot ?

Spent most of today running around for/with an elderly relative. Now enjoying a sneaky glass of wine.?

Did my weekly volunteering for Age Concern at the lunch club. Old people can eat for Britain! On the other hand it's very sad to see some of them deteriorate almost before your eyes. Then got my day's exercise with a 7 mile walk before a trip to Sainsbury's to stoke up on the 25% off wine offer!

DD1, hubby and our 4DGC flew off on hols early doors. So house suddenly very quiet. Met up with an old friend for a walk/ talk-lovely. Then round to DD's to feed rabbits-all OK.
We were just go out for a stroll when DD facetimed us. Told us all about journey etc and showed us round villa-gorgeous. She said they all hesitated to FT us as we usually go with them but couldn't this year as DH has had health problems. We're delighted for them? Lol

Must have been a Norfolk bugger Newquay used as a term of endearment as in "Yew silly ole bugger"

Yesterday we took friends for a chug down the river in our little boat. It was an impulse decision and I was ashamed how grubby and spider ridden she'd become in quite a short time. So today we've spent three hours cleaning her. Now spotless. Must now think of someone to take out before the spiders swim back to the boat.

Once again, with great pleasure, had DGC this morning from about 11am. Their dear Mum, our elder DD, suggested I take them to see Indestructibles 3. Sadly it isn't on in our local -flea pit-cinema so had to drive a few miles down busy M6 instead. Anyway it all went well and I managed to stay awake too. On the way home I got caught out by a necessary lane change and said "oh bugger" much to DGS's delight! Have already fessed up to DD who said "naughty step for you then"?

We've towed the caravan to a site near Oakham for the Rutland Bird Fair. A lot of walking planned for tomorrow!

Had a lazy day today. DGC, boy 9 and girl 7, stayed home with Mum and Dad so suddenly at a loose end. Helped DH trim neighbour's hedge which is leaning over our new hedge-with authority, of course! Did very little gardening myself. Eldest DGD arrived at lunchtime. Her younger sister is nervously awaiting A level results tomorrow-gulp! Caught up with my sister and DH's sister. Went to visit elderly neighbour. Talks non stop, just sit and listen. . . . DH now watching noisy film while I GN. Am enjoying book on my Kindle-Handmaid's Tale-well, don't know if enjoy is the right word.

Got the computer working again; hurrah! Phoned AOL who said the classic 'have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again'? Which I actually hadn't as last time I turned the router off NOTHING worked for a week, so I'd just turned the computer itself off [didn't want to lose catchup tv on top of everything else]. Of course; it worked!! Also arranged for someone to re roof my shed; it would probably be cheaper to have a new shed but my ex attached the shed to everything else. Means I will have to get rid of the honeysuckle, which is sad as I usually have birds nesting in it, but even they avoided it this year. I can't believe I won't have to be constantly sweeping up honeysuckle leaves [it's an evergreen one and sheds leaves constantly]. I'm quite excited about this along with using my new hosepipe.

Just back from an evening walk. Absolutely glorious. Walked along the river watching the cormorants having an evening fishing. They fly in from the sea every evening to roost and some some stop off for a supper. Swans and ducks pottering gently about.
We could see the fish eddies, there seems masses at the moment.

Went to Jane Austen house museum with friends, then to her brothers house after lunch, tea and cake, then home. Much more there than I expected, beautiful gardens in both and lovely weather
