Come on, you lot, are you all still comatose after reaching 1,000 posts last night?

That bar won't re-stock itself you know, and I'm too busy buffing my nails...wink

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 08-Sept-17 14:21:34

Prosecco o'clock already? Apparently there's a way to get round that Marydoll - use a straw grin

Marydoll Fri 08-Sept-17 13:09:08

I think the jam doughnuts may be the cause grin
As I'm going to get myself in the mood for my Italian holiday tomorrow, I may have a little Prosecco as a taster. Who care's if it rots your teeth? I will worry about that later.

Good news indeed, how generous, I know my bar bill ran into four figures.Must cut down a little or will go bankrupt.
I will sit here by the bar for an hour, in case friends drop in,
A large cognac please and an espresso on the side, with a jam donut. Why won't my bum fit on this barstool?

Marydoll Thu 07-Sept-17 23:57:11

I actually can't remember. I think the wake was awesome, but I seem to be suffering from some form of amnesia. I'm sure the Admiral spiked my drink.

Chewy may remember, as she was very found of Guinevere and has generously offered to settle all outstanding accounts. She is such a good egg grin £££££££££

What did we do with Gaston in the end? Is he still in the cellar next to the sack of salted peanuts?

Marydoll Thu 07-Sept-17 23:38:36

It is a worry when founder member go AWOL. Perhaps they are just worn out by the shenanigans and in a retreat somewhere in the Himalayas. Now there is an idea.hmm
An alter ego Argy Bargy Cafe, where all the stressed grans can go for support.
I think we need time to mourn the "passing" of Gerard, the ferret. Unlike some GNs, he didn't leave any indication of his funeral wishes.

When will Ana and Anya be back from their buying spree in Calais? They only went over there for a few cases a week ago and haven't been seen since, should we be worried? You know what French men are like ( just adding to the stereotyping going on?) and they are such innocent little souls.

Marydoll Wed 06-Sept-17 22:46:17

I prefer when it is in a Mars Bar Cake. Yum, yum.

Chewbacca Wed 06-Sept-17 22:43:35

A thread on "stereotyping" would indeed be contentious Marydoll , especially if you start it on the News & Politics forum! noticed you didn't object to the Mars Bars though! grin

Marydoll Wed 06-Sept-17 22:23:34

I beg to differ, Chewy! I was so busy " entertaining" I didn't stop to consume anything. For the record, I HATE Irn Bru !!!!
I am going to start a contentious GN thread on stereotyping. SO THERE.

Chewbacca Wed 06-Sept-17 22:11:06

How very dare you Marydoll ! You know very well that you ran up a bar bill of £139.17 on the night that you were "entertaining" the navy! And you've been eating endless packets of pork scratchings, deep fried Mars Bars and cans of Irn Bru for months now because you're "energy levels need supplementing". probably wouldn't if you were so busy entertaining

Marydoll Wed 06-Sept-17 22:05:49

I was wondering, as I need all my dosh for my forthcoming holiday, could I do a few shifts for free to cover my bill? I definitely haven't spent £329.78
I think someone has been buying drinks in my name. I wonder who it could be?? Chewy????

lemongrove Wed 06-Sept-17 18:22:42

I thought we could keep our bar tabs going until Christmas?
I was sadly misinformed by somebody.
Well, much as I would like to cough up what I owe, I find myself in a little cash flow situation just at the moment, but am expecting a postal order any day now.?

Chewbacca Wed 06-Sept-17 12:55:53

But that's not fair Liaise ! The bar bills debt should be paid according to those who have drunk the most and, as Marydoll and Lemon have drunk like fishes, and I've been stone cold sober grieving for my Gideon , I'm not happy to pay their booze bills. Well have to split this bill more fairly I'm afraid! My contribution is .07p. Here's 10p, keep the change! Marydoll owes £329.78 shock

Liaise Wed 06-Sept-17 12:42:34

Ladies I have just worked out the bar bills for last week and it makes shocking reading. If you want to pay yours you will have to graft a bit more. Need I say more. Too much arguing over the talent I'm afraid although some of them do look rather tasty. Anyway backs to the wall and best foot forward (if you've got one). I'll have a large Pinot while you are busy.

lemongrove Wed 06-Sept-17 07:53:07

Sounds good to me! ??

Menopaws Wed 06-Sept-17 07:49:05

Ferret burgers are nice with a large coffee and a huge baileys

lemongrove Wed 06-Sept-17 07:42:43

Up early this morning, have just been to wave off a ship or two in the harbour, and hug a few sea dogs goodbye, sniff.sad
Now, what can I have from the bar, cafe followed by some breakfast, ???? partings are such sweet sorrow, but do give me an appetite!

Chewbacca Tue 05-Sept-17 23:08:59

Ah! You have a fair point lemon. Tis true that my seaman was a skinny little beggar and he had similar coloured whiskers, but I don't recall him scratching my face in the morning when he was searching for his nuts. But then again.......

lemongrove Tue 05-Sept-17 23:05:32

Is that the ferret or your sea captain Chewbacca they did resemble each other quite a lot.

Chewbacca Tue 05-Sept-17 23:03:41

Did I hear the dulcet tones of my little Geronimo's name being spoken? Oh how I miss his skinny little body creeping into cracks. And his sharp little talons scouring the side of my face in the mornings whilst begging for his nuts. Happy memories! Sigh.

lemongrove Tue 05-Sept-17 23:00:05

Did you have to remind us? sob, sob, miss that little guy so much.?
Now, a large vodka and slimline please, and hold the ice.?

Marydoll Tue 05-Sept-17 22:21:19

I wouldn't know about body odour, * Meno*, I' m very particular about washing my hairs. I hope you aren't implying I have ferrititis.? Perhaps it is because I am a ginger, it reminds you of our dear, departed Gaston?

Menopaws Tue 05-Sept-17 22:15:27

Ferretitis is a nasty condition indeed, makes you run around chasing your tail and giving off an offensive odour....Marydoll?

Marydoll Tue 05-Sept-17 22:12:25

I would have liked to taste your dish Lemon , but I already have a hairy chest, upper lip, chin, etc.etc.. I just don't want to tempt fate.
