Aside from the virtual cake obviously... grin

It would be really helpful for us to know what you like about Gransnet, and what draws you to the site? Is it the general chatter and social aspect, the advice, the competitions, the word games, the articles, the webchats. If you were to pick your top three (or if you can't think of three then just one will do!) reasons for logging on, or what keeps you coming back, what would they be?

I'll tell you why I am on gransnet Lara, I can spend a happy hour saying daft things off the cuff to likeminded people who, on another serious thread, will also contribute thought provoking intelligent and compassionate opinions on everyday life that affects us all. There is so much pleasure to be gained so easily with others at the same stage of life and overall it is a great place to speak out or just listen, laugh and cry, be honest and be naughty, whatever you feel like being when and where you chose.

Best Welsh Rarebit I ever had was at Rhug Farm Shop cafe. No idea how they got it like that (mustard or beer maybe?) utterly I could have eaten it all over again. Recipe please Anniebach !

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 19:44:47

Not me Penstemmon
That should be the final summing up of all that has gone before and the final post on the matter)
(apart from mine agreeing with you, of course!)

Darnsarf Tue 01-Aug-17 19:15:38

Best post so far Penstemmon!

Opinions can be based on proven factual information.
Opinions can be based on limited experience /knowledge.
One experience does not endorse a general 'fact'. e.g. I crossed the road against the traffic lights and lived therefore it is safe to cross roads against traffic lights.

Belief (faith) is not based on fact..the clue is in the word faith!

We can have different opinions and all be really nice individuals!
We can agree to differ on our opinions or debate the opinions. We never need to be unkind to people whose opinions we disagree with UNLESS they create a serious threat of physical and emotional harm

Who has a different opinion? wink

Darnsarf Tue 01-Aug-17 19:01:40

But that's your opinion! grin

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:44:42

Also Darnsarf;

* A fact is verifiable.
* Unlike an opinion, a belief is a conviction based on cultural or personal faith, morality, or values.
*Another kind of assertion that has no place in serious argumentation is prejudice, a half-baked opinion based on insufficient or unexamined evidence.

Darnsarf Tue 01-Aug-17 18:36:46

Maybe Norah's opinion was based on experience.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:34:19

Snap!

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 18:33:56

Shall we play as swapping quotations Darnsarf.

An opinion is a judgment based on facts, an honest attempt to draw a reasonable conclusion from factual evidence.
