Clothes that suddenly suit me

Roses.arered it is not clothes that don't fit that get put to hang up but ones that I just didn't feel right in or maybe were for a special event and I often find another way to wear them or suddenly find it is something different to wear. Sometimes it is that bargain that you could not refuse. I bought a fine knit bat wing type cardigan greatly reduced in M &S. Had it a few months then wore it out one evening and everyone admired it so that was reassuring.

There are a few things that got to tight and yes they went to the nearly new sale for charity.

If buying new stuff, I usually try to make sure it will go with something I already have.

Went a bit wrong on one occasion when I was looking at something and was convinced I had something in a compatible colour.

Well, I did but was the lining of a jacket

I sometimes find surprise clothes. I tend to buy one or two things in the end of summer sales and pack them away for next year. I usually forget all about them so it comes as a great surprise when I find them again. Sometimes it's more of an "Oh my God what was I thinking?" sort of surprise, but you can't win them all

Don't cripple yourself wearing uncomfortable shoes- Wooden shoe stretchers work a treat you can get them with plastic bits that you put in the stretcher to simulate a corn or bunion so they stretch at that point. Buy on eBay.

I don't have any clothes like that ( unsure whether to be worried or smug)
Certainly no new but unworn shoes either.
I don't keep clothes which won't fit me now, hoping to fit into them at a later date,
That always seems like an excercise in hope winning out over experience!

I don't think I'd even be able to get tight shoes on if I wore a pair of thick socks!

You can buy spray to stretch leather shoes, don't think it would work on man-made materials though.

This is good news to me. I bought an expensive jacket, wore it once and just didn't like it. I tried to sell it on ebay but nobody bid for it. After reading this post I'll hang it on the box room wardrobe and maybe in two years time I might find it and wear it.

If you need to stretch shoes?sandals try wearing round the house/garden with a pair of thick socks for a bit- usually works, particularly if you are barefoot or in tights when you usually wear them.

Phoenix I think I remember having a spray to ease tight shoes or just wear them around the house a bit or sit with them on.

Yes maybe the clothes being a bit out of our comfort zone is the answer.

I have found 1/2 dozen sundresses in a suitcase from a couple of years ago I had completly forgotten about them being there,I must have been on waccy baccy when I bought them as I would never dream of wearing such gourdy colours now,so off to the charity shop with them.
Also have about 10 pairs of strappy sandals which are far too flat half of them still tagged must have been impulse buys I think as I cant remember buying most of them.

Oh yes and also when I do give things to charity that I think I will never wear again something comes up and I think THAT would have been perfect if only I hadn't got rid of it

I'm the same with shoes. I tried a pair on last week (ballet pump types). They were very comfortable. I took the one I had tried on to the counter. The assistant got me a fresh pair in a box, same size obviously. They are really tight. I can only assume that the one I tried on had been stretched by people trying it on. Annoying.

I've got 2 blouses and a Tshirt that I wore loads last year and I'm trying to decided whether to Oxfam them or not. Weird isn't it?

I think sometimes we buy things that are a bit out of our comfort zone and it takes a while to acclimatise. I find that especially if I go shopping with DD3 who always wants me to be braver than I am.

I have a cupboard full of shoes bought on a whim, the trouble is I used to buy them in several colours to wear with all outfits but have not really worn them. The last time I checked I had twenty pairs unworn

It has happened to me too - a sort of serendipity. Alas the opposite can also be the case, that top I thought so "me" last year is a disaster this, so was it always so unflattering? Probably

Yes, I have recently re-discovered clothes which had been consigned ,mostly unworn to the loft. It's a lovely feeling isn't it!

I'm afraid I have the opposite problem, especially with shoes.

Try them on in the shop, they feel fine but when I wear them "properly" discover they hurt like hell!
