Featured at Glastonbury! Was that the best time of your life?

It certainly was one of my best times.
Graduated from St A, got married, moved to London, started an interesting well-paid job!

The arrival of my children and a few happy years as SAHM surpassed it but it's still a fond memory!

I was sixteen and still at school. While on a beach holiday with parents and siblings they went to the shop for an ice-cream whilst I waited on the beach. (Not cool to be seen with parents) Then this gorgeous, tanned, dark haired man came out of the surf with his surfboard, he was about 20yrs old
. He sat next to me on the seat and we chatted for a few minutes, he then lent over and gave me a lovely kiss. Wow. I have never forgotten it. Very romantic. Memories. Lots of fun, cheesecloth tops, beads, long hair on girls and boys, just wonderful carefree days. Peace Man!!

Best year ever? YES. 19 years old. Living in basement flat in central London. Wonderful summer. Bells round my neck, bare feet and Afro hair. Amazing music. Sunshine. Scott Walker live at Top of the Pops studios. Met Jimmy Hendrix. All night parties. Tequila Sunrise. Feather boa, mini skirts and Carnaby Street. Many, many happy memories. My DDs love me telling the stories. Those were the days my friend. ?

Got married aged 17........huge traffic jam outside church meant that bridal car could not get out so hopped on a bus in full wedding dress and veil and went off to reception.........

Worked in London, went to Paris.....music festivals, parties, long white boots .....a happy time when anything seemed possible.

I was 20 and in love with my then husband. I was slim, fit, pretty and I loved my life. I may have been a bit naughty but it was fun! That was nearly 50 years ago and the whole world has changed; I'm about to marry for the second time and have never been happier ?

I was 32 in the July and happily pregnant with my S who was born in Feb 1970. My D was 4 in July. We had been in our house a year and made lots of new friends with children of the same age. We had been married 11 years and were very happy as it seems were many of us. Would I go back?
In a heartbeat.

I was 14 and can't remember much about it, except that I was a convent school run by some very strict nuns. I have probably blocked it all out.grin

I was 15 and don't remember anything special happening to me!

I'm horrified to think that it's 48 years ago shock

Aged 20, I had a reasonably good job which allowed me to enjoy the music, fashions, hair styles and social life. We had lots more freedom than previous generations.

And, I met dh in December that year. A good year all round.

Nandalot, we were in the same area back then, I was in Heywood, but before that, Bamford.

Aged 23, got married in March and honeymooned in Ibiza. Shortly after, we moved into our brand new house - had very little furniture but we had been given an old television with doors on which we watched the moon landing. Started my dream job in September.1969 was a very good year for us.

Passed my nursing finals had a baby girl. I was offered a Sister's post but couldn't accept as it was full time and I had my daughter to look after. I was upset, really wanted that silver buckle ! !

Well I met DH so I suppose that was good hmm It was a good time all round really, I had a job in design which meant I could wear what I liked, the music scene was great and I seemed to spend most of my free time at the theatre, (all stopped when I met DH!)

Aged 26, married for 6 years, had been teaching for five years and watched the moon landing with my class of 42 seven year olds. Moved house in June and changed schools in September, then in October found I was pregnant with first child after three years of trying. New house needed lots of work and we would have only one income, new Headteacher wasn't too pleased either.

I was 15 and spent two weeks of the summer of '69 with the boyfriend I was besotted with before he left to go back home to Leeds. It was that year that I finally started to go out with the boy in my class who I'd been chasing since I was 13. On the rebound from bf no 1 I only went out with him to keep my friend company. 46 years later we're still together. I love that song - it reminds me so much of the times we roadied for my youngest son's band when he was only 15 and too young to drive (or actually to be in the clubs and pubs they played in!). Happy days.

I was 20 and living in south Devon. I loved it, worked in a large office during the week and had a great social life at the weekend. Lots of fun with small boats, jeeps and country walks. Lots of parties with possibly lots of cider. Lots of neighbour fished, so we always had great fresh fish. Happy days though the marriage didn't last.

Like quite a lot of others on here had just had my first baby. He was very colicky and I remember walking him in his prism around the cobbled streets of Rochdale in the warm, summer evenings. He would fall asleep and we would return to our 13th floor flat. He would stay asleep in the lift, but the minute we opened the flat door he would start screaming!

Cherrytree59 Sat 24-Jun-17 19:04:47

I was 10. My baby sister 2

When i was 15 i went to see the rolling stones in concert. They had just had their first hit 'come on'. I was there to see the everly brothers who were top of the bill. As we waited outside the theatre we were chatted up by a couple of scruffs, gave them the cold shoulder. We got inside sat down the first act were the scruffs aka the rolling stones. To think i might have been the first mrs jagger!!

travelsafar Sat 24-Jun-17 18:44:53

I remember going to watch The Rolling Stones concert in Hyde Park and the fact that the escalator at the railway station didnt work and we had to climb up those stairs unaided, wouldnt be able to do that now!!!!. It was a fantastic day and the most memorable part was when they released thousands of white butterflies to remember Brian Jones who had died.

silverlining48 Sat 24-Jun-17 18:19:36

Husband and i newly married were on holiday on the isle of wight and came back on the ferry at the same time as the crowds who had seen bob Dylan. A great atmosphere. Not sure we even realised it had been going on.
