Argy-Bargy Cafe - enter at your peril ?

I'd never dare enter some of the safe havens on GN ??

But does anyone remember Pete's Cafe (?? or something like that??) where those of a more robust nature met to exchange witticisms and the like?

There's no tea and cakes, but a good selection of alcohol ?? and pork scratchings etc.. Dress code is flexible, but no twin sets and pearls (or anything else that can be clutched to bosoms). Cross dressers etc. welcome (providing they stick to the no twin-set rule even if no bosons to clutch to)

I'll try to drop in tonight to see if there are any customers.

All suggestions as to Cafe Rules are welcome. I'd start by suggesting no talk about cats or knitting ?

I don't think they'd need invitations, Jane! They'll march straight in when they're bored and looking for a bit of argy bargy! grin

Jane10 Sun 18-Jun-17 11:55:18

Erm excuse me but this thread doesn't live up to its name. There has been absolutely no argy or bargy. Should we issue invitations to Grans of that tendency do you think? wink

grin POGS.

Bit of a thick head today, don't know what's caused it. Even me ferret seems drowsy.
2 pints of Bishops Finger ale should straighten me eyes out.

I went AWOL last night to a BBQ so I have called in for a hair of the dog and will sit quietly in the corner with my Bicardi & Coke with 4 ice and will try a Gramps Grunge to get me kick started.

Phoenix

Washing lines can bring about some odd occurrences actually.

Apparently the Air Socks at East Mids Airport are old and tatty and a few of the regular pilots suggested they ask me for my knickers as a substitute as they have noted they are the right size. I understand a Boeing 737 from Malaga had a near miss once and almost landed in my garden. confused.

Cheeky beggers but if anybody lands at East Mids Airport on runway 2 look out for them, apparently you can't miss them from even 2.000 miles up.

It's a hot day so I suspect a few may call in for a Lemon Barley or two today. Cheers if I'm asleep you lovely people.

Oh my aching head! Back to bed for a little snooze or will I have a hair of the ferrett dog? I need to prepare myself for what today will bring.
Alima I will bring the ferret later-if I can find it. confused

Alima Sun 18-Jun-17 07:04:16

....and the only sound coming from the Argy Barry Cafe was that of snoring. Going to be some bad heads around today methinks. Scrumpy can be lethal stuff.

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-17 22:40:19

?

Chewbacca Sat 17-Jun-17 22:36:26

No problem Marydoll , at least I know where me ferret is.

Plenty of scrumpy left Katek, come and sit down and say hello to me ferret. It's up Marydoll's at the minute but I'm sure she won't mind you getting down and avin a look.

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-17 22:31:46

I CAN'T WAIT I mean, that is so kind of you to think of me in my hour of need, Çhewy

Katek Sat 17-Jun-17 22:31:33

Any of those 5ltr containers of scrumpy behind the bar? You know the ones in the detergent containers? Think they leave some detergent in to get a good head on it

Chewbacca Sat 17-Jun-17 22:31:24

I'm papering walls in the loo,
And quite frankly I haven't a clue.
For the pattern's all wrong,
Or the paper's too long,
And I'm stuck to the toilet with glue.

Chewbacca Sat 17-Jun-17 22:27:26

Ooo eck Marydoll you are in a pickle, right enough. The balloon inflaters will be along in a bit, they might have something up their sleeve to help you out. grin

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-17 22:23:41

Galen, smile

Jane10 Sat 17-Jun-17 22:22:49

Drafted??

Jane10 Sat 17-Jun-17 22:22:07

Och- drafted keyboard I corrected it to Virgins but it keeps adding tow to it!

Jane10 Sat 17-Jun-17 22:20:35

Yup. Showtime-
Four and twenty Virginstow came down from Inverness,
And when the ball was over there were four and twenty less.

Now over to annsixty to carry on. Its her kind of song!

Galen Sat 17-Jun-17 22:17:53

Ps
I want to enjoy both!

Galen Sat 17-Jun-17 22:17:24

Is that the one that starts
Four and twenty virgins
Came down from Inverness?

Then there's the engineers hymn and the engineers song
Stood on the bridge at midnight
And ' hold him down you Zulu warrior'

You can tell I had a misspent youth in the uni bar with the other medics and engineers

Pease don't tag all SKs with the same brush!

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-17 22:17:20

Remember Chewy I wasn't wearing trousers? I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Anya Sat 17-Jun-17 22:15:15

shock

Chewbacca Sat 17-Jun-17 22:15:00

He's really friendly Marydoll, loves a nice trouser legs to run up, he does. You might want to leave your trousers in the garden when you get home though. His scent gets a bit "strong" when it gets warm and it's a bugger to wash out. I've been wearing mine for a couple of weeks now and I hardly notice the aroma now. and I always get a seat to myself in the snug.

Ana Sat 17-Jun-17 22:06:24

grin

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-17 22:03:44

I am not one to complain, I really don't mind the ferret. It was an experience I will never forget?Thank you, Chewy

Ana Sat 17-Jun-17 22:03:06

Jane10, I'm sure everyone would be thrilled to hear your rendition of whatsit (although there's only room for one in the Ladies and calling it that is stretching it a bit...)

Chewbacca Sat 17-Jun-17 22:02:08

Good stuff that damson gin, innit? grin . My old man liked a drop of my damson gin but it interfered with his pace maker, so he stopped. sad
Get up on that stage orange crate Jane, we'd love to hear The Ball of Kirriemuir sung proper.
