Argy-Bargy Cafe - enter at your peril ?

I'd never dare enter some of the safe havens on GN ??

But does anyone remember Pete's Cafe (?? or something like that??) where those of a more robust nature met to exchange witticisms and the like?

There's no tea and cakes, but a good selection of alcohol ?? and pork scratchings etc.. Dress code is flexible, but no twin sets and pearls (or anything else that can be clutched to bosoms). Cross dressers etc. welcome (providing they stick to the no twin-set rule even if no bosons to clutch to)

I'll try to drop in tonight to see if there are any customers.

All suggestions as to Cafe Rules are welcome. I'd start by suggesting no talk about cats or knitting ?

If the Argy still isn't ready for the "do" does anyone know Randy Andy? We could have it at the "palace" I hear.

grin that was a good 'un Menopaws!

Marydoll Mon 10-Jul-17 22:28:34

?

Menopaws Mon 10-Jul-17 22:27:37

No he gave up looking that's why he deserted me (sorry couldn't resist!)

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 22:20:04

To be fair Ana, anyone looking for my blancmanges would be better looking in my pockets first. Unless I'm horizontal and then they'll be somewhere round my back. blush

Marydoll Mon 10-Jul-17 22:20:02

Yes! Germoline!!! I have never been able to look at a tube of Germoline since. In fact, at this moment I am having some very distressing flashbacks.??

Ana Mon 10-Jul-17 22:19:03

I think if it hasn't got a gusset the one year rule doesn't apply...

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 22:17:44

Hang on Annsixty , are you saying that you've been wearing the same Spirelli corset since 1950 and you haven't washed it yet? Urgh! Underwear should be washed at least once a year, you know although Marydoll doesn't bother that often.

Ana Mon 10-Jul-17 22:17:36

They were probably so far down he'd lost the will to live by then Chewbacca! grin

Ana Mon 10-Jul-17 22:16:15

Yes, my granny had one of those corsets but much more pointy than the one in the photo! And the pink was nothing like those bloomers - think germoline...

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 22:15:08

Really Menopaws ? Your sailor friend seemed to be "man of the world" and very experienced rapacious . Did he eventually find your blancmanges? And, more to the point, was he pleased with them when he found them?

annsixty Mon 10-Jul-17 22:13:47

Mine is very similar to that.
It was made by Spirella in the late 50's. I really must get round to washing it.?
Have I mentioned that I am rather fond of smoked salmon. Or should I expect meat pies and fish paste. I don't want you to run out of beer money.

My farmer friend was pretty traumatised by my pink blamanges, they were not where he thought they should be

Marydoll Mon 10-Jul-17 22:06:13

No, they were reinforced by giant whalebone and had suspenders hanging down. The top half had a conical bra. as far as I can remember. The thing is,I used to close my eyes when measuring, as I was an innocent and had never seen anything like it before. My face was the colour of the corsets.blush As a result, they never really fitted. Anyway, it won't matter, we are all friends. We can offer counselling for those who have been traumitised by the pink blamanges.

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 22:00:43

Oops Jane10, I didn't think you'd miss them off your washing line. Sorry about that. S'pose you'll be wanting this back too then.

Jane10 Mon 10-Jul-17 21:55:44

How dare you use one of my early modelling photos. I'll get my agent on to you!

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 21:53:54

Will they be like this Marydoll ?

Marydoll Mon 10-Jul-17 21:50:12

Sorry I'm late again Laidees. My excuse this time is that I was at the seaside with DGD all day. I know I always have an excuse. This time it is genuine wink. The good news is that when I was 16, my Saturday job was in the underwear dept of the the local Co-Op dept store. I am an expert in measuring elderly laidees for salmon pink corsets.I am very discrete and only I will know the measure measurements. I think we should all show solidarity by wearing them. With this aim in mind, I have managed to source a variety of foundation garments in the local downmarket second hand shops.

Excellent chewy thanks! Anything else we need to do? There's plenty of nibbles but what about food to soak up the gin although if your cake is big enough that might be sufficient

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 21:11:29

OK roses, first, I'll catch the cat........

rosesarered Mon 10-Jul-17 21:10:30

X posts Chewy....... yes! Go for it.....yum yum

rosesarered Mon 10-Jul-17 21:09:26

In that case Ann should we make two cakes, each with forty candles on?wink
Actually I saw a very tasteful cake the other day which you may like, all in a pretty pink colour ( to match your corsets) a gigantic arse bottom, we could get loads of candles on that! Lots of slices out of it too.????????

Chewbacca Mon 10-Jul-17 21:05:07

Ahem, I'm not one to boast much but I'm rather well known around these parts for my Cats Bum Cake. I could rustle that up for Annsixty's bash if you like? I've got all the ingredients, including next door's cat. Might have to give the mixing bowl a bit of a wipe; Geronimo likes to curl up in it with his latest catch rats or mice. Shall I crack on with it?

annsixty Mon 10-Jul-17 20:43:48

I don't think it would mature in the time left, nothing for it but to pay out real cash.
I thought we might have trouble with the cake, no-one has a tin large enough so I will settle for the shapes of the number 40 as that is the age I am going to admit to from now on!!
I think I will get away with it.

Menopaws Mon 10-Jul-17 20:43:18

Chewy are you bringing Gerardo to the party.? Could you give him a quick spray of Ferret No.5 please as it's a special night, thanks
