Scotland and Community

The village ( Scotland ) where I live has a strong community.

I think that emphasis during the Beechgrove Garden says more about the programme's editorial direction than just Scotland. I bet there are all sorts of communities all over the UK.

jane yes I take your point, but presumably the director has an eye to the ratings and thinks community content has an attraction for Beechgroce viewers

community spirit alive and thriving in my part of Scotland and in the area my daughter lives 40 miles north west of me .Community Garden projects ,Parks funded BY the community for the kids ,fundraising for for families who have suffered loss.lots of party events and loads of people who keep an eye on my girl and her family as she is chronically ill...I appreciate them all and all their efforts for her and her children

whitewave is it possible that Beechgrove Gardens prog is more likely to be viewed by the type of person who values 'community' stuff? As well as that, all those programmes about communities coming together to do up people's houses and gardens in other parts of the UK would seem to indicate that this sort of thing is a viewings catcher!

I would imagine that these community type projects ( like the Special School gardening activities on Beechgrove today) are fairly common in all parts of the UK. In fact am sure Alan Titchmarsh ( or somebody) has had a programme featuring them, as I have seen it somewhere.
