This one is a favourite of mine;

There was a young lady called Maud,
Who thought babies all came from God.
'Twas not the Almighty
Who lifted her nightie,
'Twas Roger the lodger, the sod.

I'd like to hear your favourite, or how you'd complete.....

" There was a young man from Nantucket "

Or

" There was a young fellow called Hunt"

Ohs fav , he had the kids horrified and giggling

There was an old lady from France
She went to an American dance
She played the piano
And ate a Banana
and music came out of her Pants

There was a young man from Nantucket
Kept three mastiff dogs in a bucket.
The neighbours heard growling,
And send them off howling,
And as for the bucket? Nan took it.

There was a young fellow called Hunt
Whose speech was decidedly blunt,
But when his grandmother
Eloped with his lover
He couldn't say more than a grunt.

Strange way to pronounce Maud, but whatever...grin

The favourite of my children when they were young:

There was a young manor Darjeeling
Who boarded a bus down at Ealing
It said on the door
Please don't spit on the floor
So he stood up and spat on the ceiling.

Man of, daft kindle!

A Spike Milligan classic, if I'm not mistaken, hildajenni!

As was;

There was a young fellow named Wyatt,
Whose voice was exceedingly quiet.
And then one day
It faded away
...............

Here is one of mine.

An Aussie named Kenny McGrew
Took a shot at a big kangaroo.
The roo shouted ouch,
You've punctured me pouch
And now the wind's blowing right through.

There is a young fellow called Hunt
Who doctors and nurses confront
They tell him he's wrong
So he doesn't stay long
And leaves by the back not the front.

There was an old woman named May
Who called an election one day
She thought it was right
Cos the media was tight
In her pocket so reported her way.

Jeremy Corbyn surely will be
A great PM and you'll see
If you give him a chance
You'll see at a glance
That the great NHS will stay free

There was a young man from Nantucket
Who fed all his hens from a bucket
When one of them died
He cheerfully cried
'Does anyone know how to pluck it?'

On gransnet we chat about books,
And pass on ideas from good cooks,
Can we each be a poet?
I'm not and I know it,
So I'll hide now from virtual black looks!

One of our favourites too, hildajenniJ!

Totally-non-PC alert for another favourite - be warned!!!

A poofter who lived in Khartoum
Took a lesbian up to his room.
They lay on the bed
Until somebody said
"Who does what, and with what, and to whom?"

One of mine---

An earnest young grower from Leek
Grew a spot like a plum on his cheek.
Said he " If I feed it
And tend it and weed it,
D'ya think I can pick it next week?".
