I have just spoken to Rubylady she had an appointment at the MRI today and was admitted to the Acute heart ward for tests. She is on a drip and is to have an MRI scan and an angiogram.
She sounds in good spirits, it is a nice ward and patients ok.
She asks "for grapes please"
Her son has been quite shocked by the seriousness of her condition and has come home to look after the dog and the other pets.

On Monday ann posted that ruby hadn't heard anything so it's possible her surgery won't happen today. Hopefully ruby will let us know when she's back in hospital. She must be thoroughly fed up by now.

annsixty Thu 08-Jun-17 09:42:13

Sorry all, it isn't happening today.

Luckygirl Thu 08-Jun-17 09:33:00

Thinking of you today ruby. flowers

Ruby, today's the day, hurray. By now let's hope you are all prepped and ready. We are all with you cheering you onwards and upwards, and at least you won't have to endure all the good/bad news re the elections today. But then you might want to know smile. Love and hugs go with you, and see you soon here on GN.

I've just been catching up with this thread, Ruby, and can't believe how long you've been waiting. Seriously hope the op goes ahead this Thursday. I'm so glad you've been able to escape for a little while to enjoy some home comforts (albeit untidy ones wink).
In the meantime:

Q. What sport do you play with a wombat?
A. Wom

Q. What do you call a cow with no legs?
A. Ground beef

Q. Why can't you hear a pterodactyl going to the loo?
A. Because it has a silent P.

I went to the zoo the other and it was empty except for one dog. It was a Shih Tzu.

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:43:18

Hope you're OK and managing at home ruby - at least you may get a better night's sleep, it's always so noisy in hospital!
and I won't mention those mattresses with just a sheet over them!

Oops, I just did hmm

cornergran Mon 05-Jun-17 23:09:00

Thank you ann. Thinking about you ruby. Hope you are getting restful nights at home. Chin up. flowers.

Bellanonna Mon 05-Jun-17 16:01:04

Thank you ann. I can't believe Ruby hasn't heard yet. I thought her admission was to go ahead with her surgery, but perhaps it was for tests which then resulted in her not being ready for it. I know it was tedious for her in there but surely they could have set a date for the designated surgeon to operate, even if it meant coming home briefly. I do hope she hears very soon. Ruby if you are reading this, keep up the good spirits, the wonderful humour, and here's sincerely hoping you get that date quickly.

I had a long chat with Ruby yesterday, up to then she still hadn't had any notification as to when she will be going back in to hospital.
She is as cheerful as ever but how she really feels is probably another matter. She is too far away for me to visit when she is at home.
I just hope it is soon over for her and she can concentrate on getting well again.

Oh, sugar!

Katek Thu 01-Jun-17 23:22:25

Where did my italics go?

Katek Thu 01-Jun-17 23:21:26

Oh......^demerara^! It must be late, I had to think about that. D'oh!

Swanny Thu 01-Jun-17 22:52:13

ruby I do hope you're managing to get some sunshine and some sleep - doctor Swanny's medicinal cure-all grin

You've been through so much in the last few weeks, never mind what led you to hospital in the first place! Your stamina is amazing and I am rooting for you every step of the way (((hugs)))

I know you like jokes and jokes about white sugar are rare. Jokes about brown sugar ... Demerara.

grin

Elrel Thu 01-Jun-17 21:37:33

Wishing you well, Ruby, and hoping I can manage a joke. I'm not good at remembering them!

I gave my friend a present, it was an elephant.
He'll keep it in his room.
He said 'Thanks!'
I said 'Don't mention it!'

Boom boom!

Morgana Thu 01-Jun-17 18:21:11

I hear that quite a few ops are being postponed but at least you do have another date. Try to enjoy your time in your own home and just think how many more hugs we can all be sending you in the meantime!

Jalima1108 Thu 01-Jun-17 18:14:28

ruby we could all join Bellanonna in Swanage even if only virtually, I do fancy a skip along the sands and a dip in the sea (well, a sit in a deckchair and an icecream anyway).

Jalima1108 Thu 01-Jun-17 18:08:25

I should have said 'along with some of my own' as some quite important data was missing - probably when I swapped lives with the other patient for a few years.

Jalima1108 Thu 01-Jun-17 18:07:11

They should be computerised but it doesn't seem to work as DH found out when one hospital had no idea about the scan done at another hospital.

It also depends on who is inputting data on to the computer as I had some of another patient's medical history entered on to my records (along with my own).

Willow500 Thu 01-Jun-17 17:56:24

Ah Ruby I've not been on here for a couple of days and was thinking about you today wondering how your op had gone and now find out it didn't - unbelievable after all this time that they put it off. At least you're home which is always a relief and quite understandable everything looks a bit strange after being away for so long. Enjoy the time with your brood and try not to worry about going back in - easier said than done I know. Just concentrate on how much better you'll feel when it's finally all over flowers

Cherrytree59 Thu 01-Jun-17 17:24:16

Poor Rubysad
A long time waiting but hopfully will be more than worth it.
If you can get some fresh air and some vitamin D from the sunshine it may lift your spirits.
Sending hugs
Xxx

Galen Thu 01-Jun-17 17:11:46

The idea was that they would be. It's called joined up thinking.
Are you telling me it isn't working??
Actually I think soop's op was pre computer age!⚒

annsixty Thu 01-Jun-17 16:13:09

Exactly the same thing happens between our local hospital and specialist units .
Appointments have been cancelled sometimes because the relevant information is not available.
