Good idea to get yourself checked our Ruby. How painful that must be. Just what you didn't need right now.
I think all hospitals must use the same supplier for their waiting room seats as I often notice that horrible shaking, often transmitted from someone further along the row. Hope you are home by now having been checked over, and that your planned admission is still on. X

Sorry to hear that Ruby, hope it doesn't affect your admission on Tuesday.

Currently sat in A & E, after falling while having a bath a few days ago. My ribs around my side are purple and very sore so came to get checked over but, as it's Friday/Saturday it's busy. Plus the woman next to me keeps laughing and shaking the seats!

If I'm not called soon then I'm going home, I'm getting very tired and I need to sleep. They won't do anything anyway for a cracked rib.

I'm going to wrap myself in cotton wool! Xxx

Ruby hope you are feeling a bit brighter today. Sore backs are a buggeration aren't they? Anyone lucky enough not to have back problems can't imagine the pain and discomfort they cause. Hope Maggie has improved too x

Bad day today. Maggie still not well, friend came over to see what we should do with her but she rallied a little so left taking her to the vets today. She said to phone her tomorrow if I need her. I'd be lost without the support of friends, all of you on here, my friends. Thank you. Back really sore, in a lot of pain today.

I'll ring Motobility tomorrow and see what they say over the car. I do wish that I had someone here to share things with and, at times like this, hand it over to someone else. I've ran things for 16 years now as a single mum/person but I'm a bit worn out, need someone to care and share responsibility. I've had to be responsible since I was about 11/12 years old. I want a chest to lay my head on, but not like the ex husband, he had a chest, obviously, but he had no backbone to take charge and I still had to be the responsible one. I'm probably just tired as Maggie had me up in the night. X

Yes I agree with Pittcity about sending your car back and using taxis until you feel much stronger to make a decision. Mobility cars are great but if there not used on a regular basis then it could be looked at as a waste of your money.

Why not give car back and use money you would have spent for taxis? You can then make up mind about new car when you're back to health.

Hi, we're having an early night tonight, on our way to bed now. Maggie's been poorly today, not been drinking for last couple of days properly so I've had to syringe water down her as she's been shaking. She's ate her tea and has just had a drink herself so it seems like she's feeling better now. I've had her at the side of me all day.

Considering maybe giving car back to motobility and getting one of my own, smaller one which would go through the gates to be off the road, plus I don't use it a great deal really so it's a lot of money to pay for occasional useage. What do others think? It's going to be off the road for three months anyway, that's nearly a grand paying out for nothing.

Hopefully we can get out tomorrow on Mark "The Beast" mobility scooter! Get some fresh air and stop us going cabin crazy! I hope it's nice where you all are and you have a great Sunday. Love and hugs from me and Maggie Xxx?‍???<Mark!

I used to play against myself at scrabble I.e. play two hands. That doesn't take much energy! Maybe u could just turn a blind eye about the bits the cleaners forget? I've got very good at this! And my son post op has been topping up his limited menu with breakfast bars as he can't stand long enough to cook. Hang on in there we r all thinking of u.

That's honest of you ann. I too am really fussy about the ceramic bit but don't bother about the heated outer casing. I'm not sure it actually gets dirty. I must look some time.

ruby'thanks for your long post. You already seem to have some ideas of what to do. The chalk painted bedside cabinet will look good. I've done some too. What colour will you paint it? The veg cooking sounds wholesome and nutritious. Is there something new you would like to experiment with recipe-wise? Makes a change from daytime telly. Jigsaws should keep you busy too. Do you have a puzzle book? As someone said, can you sit outside for a while with the paper or a book? It's sunny here, not sure about your area. Just keep coming on here, if only to read and pick up our messages, Sending you lots of love meanwhile x

ruby oh not another postponement Thinking positive here - it must mean that, although you're 'urgent', the hospital must think that you're in good enough nick to hang on a bit longer!

Your eBay search - try looking for wooden mouldings, that may track down what you're looking for. If not, it should keep you amused with what it suggests!

Oh Ruby, I have just read your post and I am afraid you have a real slut for an Aunt.
I have 2 slow cookers and while I am very particular about the inner part which the food is in contact with, I am very slovenly about the metal outer. Both are a disgrace ?

Not another postponement! It's really not good enough. If it happens again, I would let them know, in no uncertain tetms, that should it happen again you will write to the Daily Mail!,

At least the weather has turned warmer again, I hope you can enjoy sitting out a bit, pretend you are on holiday somewhere exotic but with benefits of home comforts. Maggie must be very glad to have you around. I admire your stoicism and patience. Where would you like to go?

Meanwhile try searching for decorative wooden mouldings for your cupboard!

My ED's boyfriend at the time came into my bedroom and jumped onto my bed, banging the drawers at the side of my bed and a buzzing noise started up! Red faces all round! Lol.

Hia everyone, it's little ol' me! Still intact, well, of sorts. I should be in intensive care right now but here I am, burning the night oil watching Flog It and drinking hot chocolate! Totally rocking it! Lol.

Yes, as my Aunt Ann has said very kindly, I am to go in on the 27th to be sliced and diced on the 28th. I have been down about it today as the co-ordinator said yesterday that it was urgent, so not very great to hear. It's made me sit still today, in my blanket, cuddling Maggie, watching tele and feeling quite sad. Apart from Patrick on The Life of the Hospital Bed, who said he had had a quadruple bi-pass, he said it was the best thing he had ever had done, so he cheered me up a lot. Thanks Patrick.

So, if anyone has any ideas of things I can do but low energy, low impact, low risk, for me to be doing for the next couple of weeks, I would really appreciate it. I have jigsaws I will do and I have a couple of little games but, apart from tele, what else can I do?

Can I just have a grumble? The cleaners are still being a pain. I'm onto the third lot now and they are still leaving things, just because I have not pointed out to clean them. I mean, if I was washing up, then I would clean out the little slow cooker metal bit, but no, she just put the clean inside back into the overspilled, burnt on metal heating bit. Thanks for that, so I have just cleaned it as I wanted to do some vegetables and stock in it tomorrow for some nutrients. Food has been hard to get down so if I throw some together in the morning, then I will eat some later, makes life easier. Stupid woman. Next time they get a list, in minute detail of things I want doing! It's too expensive for me to do the job after they have gone. And they are supposed to be here to help me out because of my health at the moment, it's not a luxury. Gripe over, thank you. X

I do have a bedside cabinet to chalk paint. It is newish, but I don't use it now I have moved rooms as it is the wrong colour now for my new room, so the paint has to come out and source new handles and decorative wooden swirly bits to add on (no idea what they are called and ebay doesn't understand me neither?). So I do have that to do when I feel up to it. I need to do it because I keep my diary in it so have not kept up to date with that recently and it would be good to look back on when I am fully better.

Anyway, Anita is on here, so going to go and see what she is talking about (in her lovely Scottish twang). Take care all of you, keep chatting, it is keeping me going, even if I don't manage to post I still come on to read posts, thank you so much. Lots of love Xxx

Oh no! You started this thread on 24th April ann, when Ruby was first admitted to hospital. So that'll be a wait of over 2 months. For an acute case requiring emergency intervention. This has got beyond appalling now.

I know it sounds an awful long time but the hospital have to get all their ducks in a row before they can proceed. It takes a large team of experts and the aftercare has to be in place, need to know that a bed will be available in the appropriate unit.

This is a shocking wait.

She has been phoned by some coordinator asking her to go to be admitted on the 27th for surgery on the 28th. This is supposedly an extra operating day for the surgeon who normally only operates on Thursday. It will be many weeks since she was first admitted as an emergency.
Is the NHS working well?
