Happy Birthday lovely.

I kept the last brthday card my dad sent me, almost a year before he died..........I knew I could not have him forever, it is on my dresser everyday.

I did have a beautiful card my mother had sent lost when we were caught in sevre flooding, wish I had it now.

Happy Birthday to you mags1234!!! I'm so glad to hear that there's other folks out there feel the same as I do!!! I'm 68 this year and still miss my parents, especially at birthday, Christmas, mothers and fathers days etc!! I too have a lovely husband and family, but inside on these special occasions I'm still a little girl and want my Mum and Dad!!! I just go and speak to there photograph as if they were there in the room, that helps a bit!

I know what you mean.
My parents ALWAYS came to see me on my birthday, unless I was out of the country. They always seemed happy to see me on my birthday, no sad news or worries on that day. They both been gone of years now but I still miss them and especially on my birthday.I even feel guilty now for the times I was out of the country celebrating without them, which wasn't many.......
Missing them is the price we pay for loving them and for them loving us too.

I agree as I get older I miss my parents more and although I have my own children and gc I miss celebrating it with my parents I'm 60 in a few weeks and think how wonderful it must be to get to that age and still have your parents with you as a few of my friends have

Happy birthday Mags1234, i hope you have a lovely day. I think i get sad and miss my parents at any significant occasions, especially my dad as i was only 24 when he died and it makes me sad to think of all the things he has missed, like my wedding day and my lovely nephew. I'm sure it's natural to feel this way, enjoy today with your lovely family. ?

Many happy returns mags. Your parents will have celebrated your birthdays since the time you were born and you probably remember all those happy birthdays and parties from your childhood and feel nostalgia for them. You say you have a lovely family now and I'm sure they will make today special for you. You can still think of your parents, as I often do, but just fleetingly, imagining my mother giving birth to me on a cold, autumnal wartime night. Enjoy today and many more to come.
