Names never to return?

We have a Topsy and a Lolie in my choir and a Binky in my WI. Presume they all have a real name they either don't like or are nicknames.
Whatever has happened to nicknames? Seldom hear them these days.

Senga is a name that was used here in S.W Scotland i knew quite a few.My auntie was Agnes and called her DD Senga as it is Agnes backwards. Not sure it will make a comeback

We know two young sisters called Tabitha and Mabel, Also a baby girl called Ada.

Dorcas is also a Biblical name and means gazelle. The Aramaic version of her name is Tabitha – also an unusual name these days. When I was at school, more years ago than I care to count, we had a Dorcas collection in December. We were all expected (and most of us did) to make at least one garment – sewn or knitted – that would fit us. We also knitted squares that were then sewn into blankets and had a collection of second-hand clothes. These were all passed on to charities, such as Save the Children, in memory of the Biblical Dorcas who made clothes for the poor of Joppa.

My father was Cornelius. Never met another with this name.

I worked with a Dorcas and she was younger than me.

Names of my/our generations, post WW2 baby boomers tend to be going right out of fashion at present. I think they may come back.
My daughters name is now fairly rare in Britain, but has several variants. But in the late Victorian/Edwardian era it was really in vogue.
There is probably now a particular turn around time on "old" names being recyled. (For anyone who "Can BA"to look them up.)

There was a character in Larkrise to Candleford called Dorcas morethan and Chewbacca. It's amazing how much more I liked the name as the series went on

I've been wracking my brains to try to remember the name of a lady I used to work with Morethan and you've just reminded me! Dorcas! I thought it was a lovely name, really unusual. So unusual that I forgot it!

I had a grandmother named Dorcas. Needless to say the name hasn't been passed down to any of the family. I've enjoyed the chat in this thread too.

We used to have a very old family member ( very old, in the 1960's) so born in the 1880's) called Verley.Have just remembered that, and have never heard of anyone else being called it, does this name ring a bell for anyone?She was a very sweet and very deaf old lady, am wondering now if it was a family name / surname.

My grandmother was called Wilhelmina but was known as Menie,pronounced Meanie.Our roots are in the Outer Hebrides and the name was spelt Williamina by previous generations.Iam waiting for it to come back into fashion as I think it is quite pretty.

We have twin babies here on the island named "Sid and Elsie".

I think Megan is a lovely name.

My mothers name was Megan and she hated it. As an adult she told everyone her name was Ann. Now Megan is very popular. My grandmother's name was Gertrude Annie Florence Maude. Florence seems to be popular now. Although she was known as either Flo, or Florry. I had an aunt who was Gertrude too. I know of two little boys called Hudson and Hendrix and a little girl called Willow.

My parents had an old family friend called Honour.
There were several of those in DH's family, various spellings, but it seemed to drop out of favour about three generations ago. On one census it was spelt 'Ona', presumably just as the census clerk heard it.

My mother was Edna Violet. (born 1918). I remember her saying that her brother had wanted her to be called Rosie Violet. She didn't like either of her names so perhaps she would have been better off with Rosie.

My paternal grandfather was Albert, my dad Alfred. I have nephews now called Alfie & Bertie (aged 23 & 17)
