I never know if I should carry on with the original thread or start an update so slapped wrist if I am wrong smile

had a dreadful night last night with the teeth( Gums), and stayed in bed till midday today The tablets have made me a bit icky too.

BUT ( and this has a disgusting warning on it so if you are of a squeamish disposition don't read anymore).

went for my bath this evening, now that the face is not as swollen as previously I was able to lift back my top lip a bit on the side.Huge abcess. I could see a tiny hole in it so I washed my hands, got a clean tissue, took a deep breath and PRESSED..Oh Boy I thought I would pass out it hurt so much, but out came a load of blood and puss. Had salt water rinses, and it is so much less painful now thanks goodness. I may just go out tomorrow , lol.

Salt water mouthwashes are a good thing, keep it up!

oooo poor you - better out than in though eh!

That sounds very painful but you probably did the right thing and now it will slowly improve..

It sounds absolutely awful. What does your dentist say?

Hopehope Fri 31-Mar-17 23:45:57

Goldengirl my Dentist is not there as his Father is critically ill. I did see another dentist though who gave me metronidazole. I have an appointment with mine anyway on April 20th so will see how it goes.

I could almost feel the relief as you described how you dealt with the abcess. Keep up with the salty rinses. Well done.

Poor you, sounded really painful. I expect your dentist would have done the same. Metronidazole can make you feel very 'icky' but it does the job. I hope you feel better soon.

OhMyGoodness OUCH! All the best for quick improvement, hopehope!

Your description reminded me of some eyelid styes I had in my O-level year (stress, I reckon). I'll leave out the gruesome details except to say my eye was closed shut by the swellings and I had to wear an eye patch to school!
Interestingly, at my annual eye check recently, the optician asked if I'd had any styes. I haven't had any since that year (1972) but apparently there are still visible scars inside my eyelids!!!!!!

What a relief that must have been! An abscess that got out of control put me in hospital for a week so I feel your pain!

janeainsworth Sat 01-Apr-17 19:31:30

I didn't see your other thread HH but now that the abscess is draining you should be ok.
Keep up with the hot salt water mouthwashes, so that the infection continues to drain. You should find your facial swelling goes down now.
I hope you're feeling much better soon flowers

Yes keep going with the salt water rinses. Perhaps a probiotic drink to help settle your tum? Hope you are feeling better xx
