The Devon beach I spent so much time at when a child. Just as it was then. The sandwiches, the lilo and always sunny or so it seemed.

Firstly, where ever my son is to check up on him, then off to Majorca.

Amalfi or Capri. My idea of heaven.

Montmelard in Burgundy. I have spent so many happy birthdays there.

grannypiper,yes there are some good beaches on the west coast but over the last few years I have discovered the east coast and definitely prefer the east for my long walks with the dog.I love looking out at the sea and walking along sandy beaches,recently,Carnoustie and Coldingham Bay amongst others,we are fortunate to have such lovely coastlines in both East and West of our beautiful country.A change is as good as a rest they say so I would definitely want to return and live in the East ??

scooter We have the best beaches here on the west coast, i always find it strange being on the east coast and looking out to sea and all there is to see is water no great islands and the North sea is the Arctic ocean under a different name.Although i do love kinshoddie beach

I live on the west coast of Scotland in a town,I would want to return to Scotland but on the East coast and 100% it would be by the sea,I so envy people who can choose to walk by the sea on a daily basis.As for time travel,back to my teens and rewrite my route in life.

I have asked that my ashes should be scattered at sea so that I can drift to all the places that I have dreamt of visiting.

If it were allowed I would do all the traveling I have not been able to do in my life. This would have to include Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, India, most of Europe, Iceland, Greenland, USA, South America, Africa ..... well pretty much an eternity of travel!! That would also include all the parts of the UK that I have not seen and some that I have!

Then I would start on the time travel!

So many wonderful memories of family holidays at Freshwater Bay. I'm sure that, at some point in the 16 years of holidays, it must have rained sometimes, but all I can remember are endless days of sunshine at Freshwater; Colwell Bay and Hanover Point. Magic!

It all depends on where exactly you live,I used to live in Devon, ( North) very wet, and in Cornwall ( South East) dry !

Where did you live on the Island Merlotgran? I started out in Sandown and then we moved to Freshwater. Still go back for school reunions and some ozone

Another comment on Cornwall. It is beautiful and I love it. We were destined for a camping site in St Austell and to break our journey we stayed a couple of nights in Devon. We got chatting to a couple who formerly lived in Cornwall but told us it's so wet there they moved to Devon.

I had a dream not so long ago that I lived one
that had a big high ceiling and tall windows with long white curtains billowing in the breeze.

Quite a hard one. Surrey is my county it's where I was born and I'm fond of it. I'm not quite in at the moment but it's only a few yards up the road, on the edge but not quite at the heart of it. I love a lot of the counties surrounding it as well, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and further on a special mention for Dorset and the west generally I love all those places However, pure heaven on earth for me will always be Italy because it's beautiful, scenery, history, language, culture,food and of course the people, chaotic perhaps but never boring!

I've always had a sneaky liking for LA. It's truly stunning, not too hot, and very, very big. I don't think I'd ever be bored.

However I also adore Brighton. I love its edginess.

I'd also toy with the idea of a big Scottish city, like Glasgow. I haven't been for years. I fancy an apartment with high ceilings and a view. I find Scots friendly too.

Another place I like is Swansea. It's a bit of a curate's egg though-the shops aren't great but it's a cheapish place to live and the views are to die for. And it's the Welsh Jazz Capital!
On the other hand, I could just return to the Valleys and have done with it! Views to die for, cheap housing and reasonably accessible.

My son was stationed in Cornwall for a couple of years and people used to envy him that fact until he told them how much it used to rain! I love Ireland, but it helps if you have webbed feet there too!

I am in S.W Scotland and can honestly say the weather is much better here than Oxfordshire where i lived for 2 decades.If i come back can i have 6 months in Scotland and the other 6 months of the year on Menorca please

The West coast of the country is always wet, so it does depend on where you are, but from Cornwall up through Wales, Lancashire and up to Scotland, it's always going to be wetter than the centre or the East.
British weather is unpredictable though ( that's why we love it!) and you can get soaked anywhere.

What a shame. We had nothing but lovely weather on our two summer visits to Cornwall.

Yes, paddyann I have to agree about your experience with Cornwall. It's a long journey to get there for us and though it's beautiful it rained hard for 12 out of the 14 days we were there several years ago now. It was August, too, so we were looking forward to some sunshine
