Sparkly, who wants to live in a city where a Welshman can be shot with a longbow in the cathedral close on a Sunday and it's sooo flat . Talking of laws , it is against the law to call a Welshman - English

Our Welsh holidays have had decidedly more rain than we are used to, it has to be said, but that's what keeps it all so green.Like The Emerald Isle.

I think the Scottish midges only strike in August and September, but just to be on the safe side, we have only ever gone in May or June, and have always had reasonable weather it's the UK ( for now!) after all, so no hot sun beating down day after day, but pleasant weather and midge free everywhere.

Of course, can't expect everyone to like the same things. But I don't think I would click a link marked Wales if I didn't ' want reminding of it' !!

I don't want reminding of Wales as I spent 20 miserable years there. Having at last escaped I send pity to everyone living in exile, which includes Welsh people of course.

loopylou, the beacons change colour , well depends on weather I think the most beautiful sight I have seen was travelling by bus from Merthyr to Brecon on a summer evening, we got almost to Storey Arms and from the road right up the mountains every inch was lilac, the driver who had done this run for years stopped the bus , lilac road, grass , rocks, . Second most beautiful was when having a picnic in January in Freshwater East beach, lighting storm over the sea close to shore, incredible sight. Bring your camera

Love the name and thought I would say hello as I'm from Wales but have lived in England for over 30 years now. Go back 2 or 3 times a year to visit friends and I miss it more now than I used to. I'm getting nostalgic in my old age.

Anniebach I agree, things might not improve in poorer areas of Wales, it will take a while.

Nature is covering the industrialisation scars, the tips, the colliery sites but its not so easy for the economy to change.

I am glad to live in Wales too....beautiful, she is...

I totally agree about the Brecon canal Anniebach my DD's just bought a house in Brecon with a view of Pen y Fan (so envious....) and we're off there this week to carry on sorting out the garden.
Wonderful part of the country!
