Just had a phone call claiming to be from BT saying they were going to disconnect my broadband because I had unauthorised activity on my computer. I handed the phone to DH and he barked " desk sergeant Blah, blah police station, name of company and state your business " cheeky b****r replied " scam fraud company " and put the phone down knowing that we are powerless to trace them.

These sort of calls do get annoying, and I think it's so worrying for anyone who may be old and confused or have learning difficulties or autism.
I had a call on Friday last, purporting to be from the tax office saying I had paid too much tax and a refund was due to me ( Asian accent...name of Tony! haha. I said,"I expect you will need my bank details then to repay me" and he said eagerly "Yes! And you will have your money in three working days" ( yeah, right!) rather, no money in my account at all in three working minutes, I thought.I told him to get lost and put the phone down.

I've been phoned several times in the last 2-3 weeks by people with Indian accents all telling me they are ringing from BT internet - once at 8 o'clock in the morning angry The first time I said "I don't have BT internet" only to be told BT is the parent of all internet providers - "Ma'am don't you know that ma'am?"

Another time I was on my way through the door but stopped to answer the phone. He started his patter and I told him I didn't have time for this as I was going out. He had the nerve to ask "Where are you going?" He got an earful shouted down the phone grin

I had the same call this week harri, I let her ramble on about how my computer wasn't downloading anything because someone was trying to hack it, then I told her I didn't have a computer.
It was a bit of a novelty for me as I never answer random calls grin
