Queen Camilla

Prince Charles is campaigning for Camilla to be Queen Camilla when he becomes King. I would not like her to be Queen. I think they both behaved appallingly in carrying on their affair when they were both married to someone else. They had no concern for the hurt, upset and heartbreak they caused Diana and Andrew PB. They just thought it was perfectly OK to act as they did. It's 80 years since Edward abdicated to marry a divorced woman, and Margaret was not able to marry Peter Townsend, even though she was unlikely to ascend the throne. So what rules have changed? He has what he wanted and married her, but making her Queen is condoning their adultery.
But I think I'm in the minority in my view.

Who knows how any of us would react/behave when we found out that the many we married was in love with someone else and we weere just being used as a baby machine.

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 11:27:26

She is the PofW,Nige doesn't use the title, it is a title which comes with marriage to the Prince of Wales and not bestowed as a gift . Just as a second wife of Joe Blogs is Mrs Joe Blogs

Excuse typos!

The monarch is only head of the church because Henry VIII wanted to get his leg over with Anne Boleyn and we all know what happened then. Lots of adultery going on there. Of course Camilla will be Wueen uts a title that goes with the role of wife of King. All outmoded and anocronistic. Let's hope it's the last gasp of the monarchy.

Conspiracy theories too

As Ian Hislop once said, 'Anyone would think Prince Philip shot her with a blunderbuss!' grin

Lincsblue Fri 24-Feb-17 11:25:27

Why didn't Charles marry her when he first knew her and neither of them were married?

Lupatria Fri 24-Feb-17 11:15:32

i'm sorry but i don't think camilla should be queen. she's not the princess of wales as that wasn't deemed "the right thing" and i don't think she should be queen either.

MawBroon Fri 24-Feb-17 11:14:14

I do not think Charles should be our king let alone his partner in crime be our queen.
He committed adultery which is bad enough for we (sic) (=us?) commoners to be the victims of
Adultery is not as far as I know a crime hmm

How were we or indeed you a "victim", Sarahhellenwh confused ?

This thread is going from silly to sillier.
Conspiracy theories too shock

merlotgran Fri 24-Feb-17 11:05:53

Hasnat Kahn had a lucky escape.

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 11:03:12

But she adored Hewitt, she loved him , she said so , not what a wife in love with her husband would have felt surely

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 11:01:16

Yorkshiregal, if your husband died and a woman who was rather involved with him said publicly she didn't like the place where his ashes had been scattered you would think her a victim?

sarahellenwhitney Fri 24-Feb-17 10:59:42

The day of Charles coronation I feel will be a spectacle never before witnessed in the history of our country. No doubt there will be the likes of the anti giving us that which we observed in the recent presidential election.

Yorkshiregel Fri 24-Feb-17 10:55:31

Craftycat the cuff-link episode was disgraceful, I agree. Did Charles just want a brood mare and not a wife? Why not let the poor girl alone, she was happy working at the nursery. Why put her through all that misery? No wife would stand for that. I am not surprised she spilled the beans, why should she cover up for him?

To excuse Charles by saying all Royalty members do/did this is not right. They should not all be tarred by the same brush and besides it isn't true. Look at Edward for example, or William, they are great husbands.

Camilla is a social climber imo and she wanted to be Queen of the Hill. Unfortunately she has made so many enemies The Firm will have a hard time if they want her to be called Queen.

Diana had a lot of support from the country. She did a lot of good work, which Harry is carrying on, and if you ask me she started seeing Hewitt to get her own back. Fancy seeing someone else while your young, beautiful wife was at home pregnant with your child. Fancy slipping away while on Honeymoon to see your bit on the side! The man is a disgrace.

sarahellenwhitney Fri 24-Feb-17 10:44:50

Taffy 1234 then surely the husband of a queen should be king.? But this is not the middle ages when a king married whom he fancied and made the unfortunate victim his queen.Woe betide those who objected. Orf with their heads was the order of the day and lucky you if spared but your remaining days were normally spent in the tower.

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 10:44:19

Queen of England ?

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 10:43:03

Sarah, she said she loved the country, she said she had always enjoyed Balmoral having holidayed there from childhood.

who saw those cuff links apart from Diana? Who moaned her husband read books when on honeymoon ?

When this poor woman died she was not speaking to her mother, brother, sister, ex inlaws, friends , she even sacked the wife of her rock because the woman wanted to spend a bit more time with her own children, they were all cruel to this innocent ?

trisher Fri 24-Feb-17 10:42:25

Charles, Diana and Camilla were all manipulated by the late sainted Queen Mum,who was also responsible for the continued exile of the Duke of Windsor. Personally I couldn't care less what Camilla is called but I do think the machinations and manipulations within this family are fascinating. They've been at it for years and the public continue to think of them as somehow special and above all recrimination. It's a brilliant piece of PR

Yorkshiregel Fri 24-Feb-17 10:37:48

Mrs Mopp I agree with every word.

She behaved appallingly, pretending to be concerned for Diana and listening to all her worries about Charles and all the time it was Camilla that was the other woman. Both to blame, the warning bells rang for me when he said 'Whatever love means' when him and Diana got engaged.

I am not convinced that Diana died in an 'accident' either. Too convenient all round imo.

She should NEVER be Queen of England. Dishonest as they come. They can dress her up as much as they like but she will never out-shine Diana.

I am a Royalist and I would support William and Kate if they wanted to by-pass Charles but it will never happen, because he is the rightful heir to the throne according to our constitution and unless he dies before the Queen he will become our King.

sarahellenwhitney Fri 24-Feb-17 10:33:06

anniebach may we all take it that you were Princess Diana's
confidante?

sarahellenwhitney Fri 24-Feb-17 10:29:49

mrsmopp. I do not think Charles should be our king let alone his partner in crime be our queen.
He committed adultery which is bad enough for we commoners to be the victims of but as the heir to the throne he should have set an example not put his lust before duty.
If he could not set an example to us all then he and his mistress, which I will always view Camilla as, should step back and William be our king together with Catherine as his queen.

merlotgran Fri 24-Feb-17 10:20:29

I don't know what prompted this thread. Has their been a recent public campaign by Charles that I've missed? It's already well known that he wants Camilla to be Queen.

Nothing new.

I think he'll be a very good King and given his advancing years he'll be able to pass a lot on to William which will be a Good Thing as William doesn't have much to do at the moment.

Anyway, the Queen could live for a few more years yet.

Anniebach Fri 24-Feb-17 10:13:54

Diana was desperate to be PoW, she said she loved balmoral , loved the country , little fibber

nannypiano Fri 24-Feb-17 10:13:33

People have very short memories I think .... It was all a very messy business as I recall. Diana had no chance of a happy marriage with Camilla in the back ground and I for one cannot forgive Charles for his extra marital affair. Prince Phillip was not king just because he was married to the queen and rightfully so. Camilla will always be there for Charles I'm sure, but called queen in my opinion would be very wrong and unacceptable.

KatyK Fri 24-Feb-17 10:12:54

I think it all worked out rather nicely for Charles and Camilla.

Taffy1234 Fri 24-Feb-17 10:05:50

I don't think anyone has a choice, constitutionally the wife of a king is a queen. No one can do anything about this.
