I don't think you can blame the Daily Mail. Charles started his campaign many years ago. It's nothing new.
Someone needs to go back to Junior School himself.
Prince Charles is campaigning for Camilla to be Queen Camilla when he becomes King. I would not like her to be Queen. I think they both behaved appallingly in carrying on their affair when they were both married to someone else. They had no concern for the hurt, upset and heartbreak they caused Diana and Andrew PB. They just thought it was perfectly OK to act as they did. It's 80 years since Edward abdicated to marry a divorced woman, and Margaret was not able to marry Peter Townsend, even though she was unlikely to ascend the throne. So what rules have changed? He has what he wanted and married her, but making her Queen is condoning their adultery.
But I think I'm in the minority in my view.

I'm with Mrs Mopp, what has happened to the old values. I agree that she should never be queen, and I would like the throne to go directly to William when the Queen leaves us for a more peaceful world.
I would rather have no Royal family at all than them as monarchs.
I am a bit puzzled to hear that Charles is campaigning - where? and to whom? Or is this the Daily Mail again?
Secondly, when he married Camilla the constitutional experts were saying that the wife of the King is the Queen - end of. What has changed?
And Anne was having an affair with her now husband when married to number one
Why should a monarch appeal to the young , the young are not interested in the windsors and a king who had been divorced wouldn't bother the young,
As for William an Harry doing so much work, no, they make sure they make camera appearances , Charles does a lot more but age doesn't sell newspapers.
Harry is too like his mother, a manipulator and a look at me person.
Camilla behaves in public as the Windsor women are expected to behave
I don't agree that Charles doesn't appeal to the young; to the contrary he is very actively involved in a quiet non showy way with wonderful groups like the Princes Trust, and his concern for the environment and things such as GM crops and sustainable agriculture should interest or at least concern everyone, irrespective of their age. I do realise however, that there are a lot of Diana fans, people who see the whole ghastly situation in black and white, and see Charles as the baddy and the sainted Diana as the Queen of Hearts (yuk). To these people, Charles will never be acceptable, which is regrettable. I do find it odd though that many of those who consider Charles unsuitable for the crown, sometimes suggest that Anne would be better.....most odd as she too is divorced, and re-married with a living ex-husband?
If Charles didn't care about the environment or politics I'd be quite upset. But he does care about a sustainable future, for everyone.
I think the monarchy needs to get up to date. Unfortunately Charles is a product of his upbringing and will do nothing to appeal to the young. One only has to look at the work the Princes do to see how popular they are. I fear for the monarchy if Charles takes over.
I think Charles takes his role very seriously and will be an excellent King. Agree he shpuld have married Camilla in the first place as the were clearly in love before either married but he was sent into the navy out of harms qay as she wasnt deemed suitable and when he came back she was married to P-B.
I think since their marriage she has behaved with dignity and has been supportive and Charles is clearly much happier. I didnt have much time for Diana who was very manipulative . The princes seem to accept her too so why shouldnt we? However I seem to remember Charles saying at the time of his marriage to Camilla that she would not be crowned queen so he shouldnt change his mind now.
What is so offensive about Charles having concerns about the environment? Or being interested in the politics that affect the everyday lives of the population? Would you prefer a pompous King who stood waving on balconies? Ridiculous in this day and age. If we took the correlation between marriage vows and vows to country, then what about doctors who take the hippocratic oath or soldiers who promise to serve Queen and country, should they be dismissed or distrusted or struck off because they have the misfortune to make an unhappy marriage?
Charles has no right to have views on the environment newnanny?
Why do you think William would make a better king than Charles, newnanny?
It is difficult to have respect for that pair after their poor behaviour. If they can't stick to marriage vows then why should they be trusted to stick to vows to their country? Charles finds it very hard not be be offensive by meddling in politics and environmental issues. I wish the crown would bypass Charles and go to William.
Very well summed up, GillT. There are some very vitriolic comments on this thread, by people firing from the hip who haven't bothered to consider all the facts before hitting the keyboard. It's very 'off with their heads' from the anti-monarchists, without a sensible solution between them.
The 'Royal Family' as a concept was an invention of Queen Victoria. Prior to this, the fornication and philandering went on without any consideration for the thoughts of the public. They are an anachronism, but I do not wish to see them abolished, and certainly do not wish Prince Charles to die before his mother, as some do on here, what a nasty thing to say
Quite like her actually, though Diana was lovely she was much to young for Prince Charles. I don't see what the fuss is lots of people divorce and remarry etc. We are living in 21st century the royal family have changed anyway.
Gracious, some very strong opinions on here! I think that the entire Charles/Camilla/Diana episode was a tragedy that need not have happened. It is obvious that Charles and Camilla were together before he married Diana. he was manipulated into a royal marriage by the blessed Queen Mother and the dreadful stepmother of Diana, both were Edwardian in their outlook and evidently saw no problem with a wife for heirs and a mistress for pleasure, different times, different attitudes. Diana was happy to take the job I think, and I do get disturbed by the sainthood around her, the public outpourings when she died was unbelievable, However, back to the OP; yes, Camilla is consort, and has handled the public life and often nasty treatment, with decorum and dignity. Those who prattle on about morals and example are a bit behind the times, nobody, even the future King, should be forced to stay in an unhappy arranged marriage just to fulfil the public's idea of a fairytale wedding and life. he is as entitled as the rest of us to admit his mistake and move on. the fact that his sons are both happy to be with Camilla in public is good enough for me. Princess Margaret chose her royal life and privileges over the possible marriage to Captain Townsend, and we all know how that ended. If you have no divorce in your family, you are fortunate, if you have, then try to be a bit understanding.
Don't hold back whatever you do Radicalnan
The 'Defender of the Faith' couldn't be faithful..........its like a Monty Python sketch..big ears, mutant kids, what do we need them for? Andrews girls are gruesome. Harry is, well who knows who Harry is, on the payroll that's who he is, and bringing home that daft American bint, goodness me all the choice he must have had and he picks her.
We don't need them, the tourists will come to see the palaces.
When Queenie dies, get rid of them all. Beatrice, Eugenie and Mehgen can go straight to Madam Taussauds now, bloody freaks.
I wasn't that keen on Diana (you may have surmised that I am not a monarchist) but at least she looked the part.
Yes but only after she had been hurt. This is only my opinion, no one knows what really went on.
Diana wasn't too fussy when it came to flings either!!
What baffles me is Charles is wished dead yet Nigella Lawson is adored by many, that she had an affair whilst her husband was dying and then married the man shortly after her husbands death was accepted
I think Charles is the best trained-for-the-job King we are ever likely to have. It's a shame he's had to live on the sidelines for so long but the Queen is a hard act to follow!
Personally I would prefer not to have Queen Camilla but am not that fussed.
As to whether we should have a monarchy or not - would you rather have a Donald at the top?
Let those of us without sin etc. However I do feel anyone in public office has a responsibility to act in a moral and ethical way. How many MPs or others paid from the public purse think they are above such considerations.
I would have thought the Diana effect had lessened by now but seems it's still alive and kicking.
Up the Revolution!!
Who knows how any of us would behave if we found we were married to a manipulator
